The truck I was given would only start if you jiggled the key and wheel. This sometimes was instant but frequently took longer than a minute. It was incredibly stressful not knowing if/when the truck was going to start. Add to that the fact that the lock on the back would barely close and the passenger door was very damaged. The employee knew all of this because he pointed it out to us. In fact, he could not get the truck to start himself and told me to try it (which I did and was successful but later attempts took a long time). I have had good experiences at this location and others but this was my worst U-Haul experience yet. I rated Below Average instead of Poor because this U-Haul location has previously been helpful and great.

They had one person checking people in and then that same person had to take you outside and get your vehicle or trailer for you. I was the 4th person in line and it took nearly 40 minutes for me to get my trailer. That is the whole time from the time I got in line until the trailer was finally hooked up to my car.

This experience was not good and it would take longer to explain that would be worth it. I showed up early and they made leave and come back, I came back and they didn’t have my truck so gave me something which used more gas than I would have, I waited in line like 40 min both times, the General manager was rude and snapping. The whole experience was very poor.

I made a reservation a week in advance for a truck and a tow dolly. I entered the make, model, and year of my vehicle that I needed to tow. When I arrived, they didn't have any tow dollies available that would work for my car, claiming that it was too low and would damage my vehicle. It took almost an hour for them to decide that it wouldn't work. Then another forty five minutes was spent searching for an alternative location -- I was sent, with my full moving truck and car, to a location on the other side of town with no refund or reparations made for wasting ultimately 3 hours of my time on a reservation that should have been taken care of before I arrived. There was little to no apology for the inconvenience.

Furniture pads that I requested were not put in trailer. I didn’t discover that until I was already at my destination in another state. When I was returning trailer, I entered store. One employee was assisting another customer. The store manager was also at the counter where another customer line could form, but he was not assisting anyone. I stood there for a few minutes. Before he acknowledged me, I watched him pop a handful of peanuts into his mouth and continue to work on labeling keys. Finally, without looking at me, he said he couldn’t help me yet because his mouth was full of peanuts. I continued to wait while observing him put another handful of peanuts in his mouth and continue labeling keys. At some point, another employee came into the store and asked if he could help me, and he proceeded to assist me in turning in my trailer. Location could use some improvement in their customer service skills and their attention to detail.

The staff there was so unprofessional they acted like they were doing you a favor by taking the tow dolly off of the U-Haul truck. It took a while to be even acknowledged by the staff even though you are standing right in front of them. I would never recommend this U-Haul location.

5/14/19 - Got a trailer hitch installed. Extremely pleased with the install, but spent over 20 minutes on the phone trying to find out if the car was ready. Even after getting assistance from the call center, never could get a response on if the install was completed. I ended up having to just go to the store. 5/15/19 - Picked up trailer - Wait was as expected. 5/17/19 - Returned trailer - I had to wait 30 minutes to get assistance to simply drop off the trailer.

Change the oil on the trucks. I wondered if the truck was going to make it back. Also, hire more people. I waited 15-20 minutes just to return a truck. This is unacceptable in a big city.

This was the worst U-Haul experience I’ve ever had. Because of this experience I will never use a U-Haul again and I will tell everyone I know to go to Penske or budget. Anything besides U-Haul. The Elysian field location where we rented the 26 foot box truck is owned and operated by some of the rudest people on the planet. Immediately following pick up I ended up turning up the street beside the U-Haul location to turn around safely, because turning out on Nolensville pike was dangerous and uncomfortable for somebody that is not used to driving a 26 foot truck. Following turning on Elysian Drive I was going to turn around in the cul-de-sac at the end of the street. I turned up in the driveway and the trailer hitch drug down into the asphalt. You can see on this driveway and the street where this has been done close to 100 times. I have pictures to prove this. I couldn’t go forward or backwards so I called U-Haul roadside service. Thinking in my mind that I would be helped because I got the insurance. After calling U-Haul roadside service they told me that I was on my own that the insurance did not cover that. And then I called the U-Haul location where I rented the truck, they as well told me that I was on my own even though they were less than a half a mile from where I was. My friend and I stood in the hot sun for two hours trying to figure out what to do. Finally paying for a tow truck out of my own pocket. $180 later we got on the road. Neighbors at the end of the street said this happens all the time, they were mad and they even called the U-Haul location. After returning the truck back in I spoke with the owner/manager of this location and told him “when someone rents a box truck this big for future reference you should put a sign in to inform people not to turn up that street and try and turn around in that driveway”. He told me that U-Haul corporate would not allow him to do that. And then I told him that it’s very simple to just tell somebody when they pick up the truck not to do that. I hope that someone from U-Haul corporate will take note and do something about this for future customers. Thank you for reading this far. Also I hope someone calls me about this issue. Austin

I called on the phone first. I needed some information on availability and pricing. The person I talked to, was very rude. All that they wanted was my credit card number. I decided to go in person to the closest store. They were so kind and considerate. They had me in and out of there in no time. When I came back with the trailer. A nice gentleman, was right out and disconnected the trailer. We went inside, he printed me a receipt, and everything was done under ten minutes. To me, they were Quality personal. It was a pleasure for me.

Poor management!! I scheduled to pick up my U-Box but when my local movers came in they were told that the U-BOX was not ready and the store staff said he could not move the U-Box out of storage.

This store has terrible management!! I scheduled to pick up my U-Box but when my local movers came in they were told that the U-Box had not been moved out of their storage and it was not going to be ready any time that day. I went to the store, called the store manager but he didn't answer my call. Called upper manager and finally got my U-Box unloaded from their storage after waiting 1-2 hours. I found that there were two big holes on the U-Box punctured by the fork lifter.. Fortunately there was only minor damage of my furniture insode. Worst point is they didn't update the status of my Ubox and I was charged additional fees for renting Ubox for another month one and half months after I unpack the U-Box and move all my furniture into my new home. Ridiculous! I called Uhaul and finally got the overcharge back.

I rented trucks twice over the course of the weekend. While the staff was friendly and knowledgeable, I had originally set for an online pickup, but it wasn't working on my first truck. For the second truck pickup, their systems were completely down. I understand this is not an issue with the location itself, but still something I felt needed to be addressed.

I had to google the closest drop off location to me. When I got there, I saw some combination lock boxes on the side of the building. I thought these were drop off boxes. However, the only empty box was defective, and wouldn't lock. It was 2:00 am, so I left the truck there and planned to come back later to return the key... since my return time wasn't until 7:00 pm I called the drop off location at about 9 am, and told them I couldn't get the lock box to work, so I didn't leave the key. The attendant informed me that the drop box was in the front of the building, and I needed to return the key immediately, because they had someone else who wanted to rent the truck. I was 60 miles away from their location, so I informed him that I would put the key in the drop box before 7 pm. His response was, "but we close at 5 pm." I repeated that I rented the truck for 24 hours, and that I would put the key in the drop box before 7 pm. The attendant I spoke to on the phone was quite rude, and I feel that he was out of line asking me to come back and bring the key before my 24 hours was up. However, when I returned the key at 3 pm, the attendant (a different one) was very friendly and quite appreciative that I brought the key back early.

Very rude owner. Had to sit there and listen to him tell some woman off on his personal phone. Also had to return the equipment to the same location, likely for reservation reasons but that was annoying because I had to drive 40 miles back to it. Arrived five minutes late while the owner stared through the glass at us and wouldn't acknowledge us. He could have at least said something along the lines of I apologize but you are late. I think I would have even taken that over just staring at us and not acknowledging us.

Always great helpfull and friendly staff at this store. david is excellent. Remembers me and greets me by name each time. Always get good equipment here. Only thing that has been an issue is time to complete check out. At least 2 out of 3 times that i have gone to check out the computer doesnt take the information and saves it and we have to re start all the information again. At least 2 times it happens. These is a problem that occur s. With different employees. Not just one person. It took like 10-15 mins to complete the check More than it should have. I have rented at other locations BUT didnt seem to happen there if i remember correctly. Other wise. Everything was wonderfull!! Great store. Ramdy Blevins

I actually waited upon arrival, in line for over 10 to 15 minutes, even with a reservation. However, once another employee arrived behind the counter, the process was expedited and I was.back out, with help getting the rented item into my vehicle. The gentleman who helped when he came was professional, efficient and very helpful. The folks at this location are friendly, helpful and really know what they are doing. I told them what I had to move and they recommended the exact size truck. No having to cram stuff in nor wasted space. A perfect fit. Well done.

This was the location the previous branch sent me to because their parking lot was full. No one contacted this branch to inform them of me coming over. When I dropped the trailer off they had me wait inside for figure everything out where I was then told I was fined $81 for parking the trailer in the wrong location. This was in the middle of my work day and I needed to leave but they told me to wait in line. While on the phone with customer service the manager on site takes the contract I signed and shoves it in my hands knocking out all of the papers I had. He made the service at McDonald's feel like 5 stars. Total jackass. I know the phone calls are recorded so you can listen to it then. And the cameras also recorded the incident. All this took 30 minutes for the fella on the phone to figure out I was being fined for being late, which is fair, not for parking in the wrong place. WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST SAY THAT TO BEGIN WITH INSTEAD OF WAISTING MY GOD DAMN TIME AND ASSAULTING ME IN THE PROCESS????? I will forever be talking shit about uhaul. I'm buying a trailer so me and my friends don't ever have to deal with your worthless staff. Whatever, Johnny Walker

I was a little disappointed to be charged 5 miles over when I was doing UHaul a favor by taking a larger truck over to Nashville from Maryville, TN and brought the truck back with over a 1/2 tank in gas. Should have only been 3/8.

I was helped by Trey and Mitch. They both went above and beyond what I expected. I drove down from Michigan to pick up some furniture and couldn't find the part I needed so I was stranded in Tennessee longer than expected. Trey called around until the part was found and after it was installed incorrectly at another location Trey took the time to reinstall it properly and even gave me tips on how to drive with a trailer on my car. Mitch filled out my reservation information and was very patient and kind with me. I made it back to Michigan safely. Thank you to the staff at the Elysian Field store!

The customer service at this location was top notch. I’ve used U-haul many times in the past. The staff here really cared. They were warm and friendly. This is the first time I’ve received such service from any U-Haul employee from my past experiences. Everyone in that location was kind, respectful and decent. Reserved online and used phone app to expedite rental. Went through process and when I went in to get keys had to wait in line for 45 minutes. They were rude and after helping 2 other customers even while knowing all I needed was to pick up key they finally handed me keys in line and walked away. No reason to use expedited process if store doesn’t know how to handle.

Everything was good until we loaded the truck and was ready to tow our goods, but the truck got stuck on the mud. The answering service for Uhaul was exceptional and apologetic even though this incident was covered by Uhaul. As a result we had to pay a tow truck 150.00 to get us out of the mud. But my issue comes in when I called the Elysian Fields store back (where we rented the truck from) to see of the store would assist us. I spoke to Trey. He was extremely rude and nasty about the truck being stuck in the mud. I was already upset and frustrated and he had no empathy whatsoever. This was my first and last time ever using that location.

This location is grossly understaffed for the weekends. I, and several other people, lost valuable daylight due to waiting an excessive amount of time to check out. The two gentlemen working were doing their best to accommodate everyone, but we’re obviously overwhelmed.

The two guys working today (2/24) were incredible given the circumstances. We ended up having to wait an hour because of the terrible internet and a poor integration of a new procedure. Help these guys serve people better by setting them up better.

Negative: 1.) Van had display on dashboard that oil change was required. Was concerning to us. 2.) A puddle of cleaner was in the rear cargo area and required that we had had to mop it out. Positive: 1.) staff was friendly and was very thorough in helping us.
