We were told in Santa Barbara store that we could keep the truck longer than 8am on Saturday (we picked up 8am on Wednesday) and that we would just have to pay the extra $40. We received a call at 8:15 Saturday morning asking why we hadn't returned the truck to this particular location as there was another customer waiting. We were told in SB that we could pick the location to return the truck to - so misinformation and cross-ups happened, but it all worked out in the end.FRANK R.

We showed up for our original reservation to an empty gas tank because gas was siphoned overnight. There was a cigarette butt and ashes on the floor board of cab. We couldn't switch to another 26 footer because the gas had been siphoned from that one too. We then tried to switch to a 20 footer, but when pulling truck forward to pick up supplies/utility dolly, the truck had issues shifting in and out of park. With our morning lost, we were unable to move as planned. We were able to reserve a smaller truck next day, but no longer had adequate manpower to help move. This location NEEDS better security measures on sight. Also, need adequate resources (extra gas caps/fuel funnels) to get fuel in trucks when this happens. Especially, since this is common place, at this location. I remember when trucks had to be fuel when returned, and each vehicle inspected by a staff member before customer could be cleared. Why have these policies changed? Why not invest in lockable gas caps? Why should the customer have to worry about getting gas instead of meeting their objective upon arrival? Moving is stressful enoughâ€¦ your customers shouldn't have to experience these types of stressors too. Because of this most recent U-haul experience, buying/moving into our new house was more stressful than it should have been. We're extremely disappointed.DANIEL F.

First off when I made the reservation they called me back and told me that the van that I reserved was not going to be available at the time that I needed it. And at the next available time would be way late in the evening and I already hired people to help me load and unload so that cost me. Secondly when I did get there to pick up the van the girl behind the desk was so snide and just no customer service at all she made me feel like I was putting her or making her go out of her way poor customer service. And thirdly when I spoke to the person on the phone at the time of making the reservation I told him I wanted to pay cash upon returning the vehicle when we returned the vehicle the same girl and another girl that was working there told me I couldn't pay cash because their cash drawers were locked at 6:30 so even worse customer service. So at this point I don't think I would refer you I think you need to make sure that whoever is making the reservation gets together with the people at the office and let them know what has been said and what has been told overall it could have been an easy thing they could have told me that the van was not going to be returned the day that I made the reservations The office should have called the main office and told them hey we told this customer she can pay cash upon returning the vehicle and none of that happened.!!!!!LAURA O.
Your employee told us it would be no problem to keep the truck as long as we needed it considering my family had just become homeless and then you reported the uhaul stolen and my wife and I got arrested driving it and now are facing felonies. I just spent $3000 with your company and I will never again rent a uhaul or anyone I know rent one.ROBERT O.

The gas was below empty. Wasn't sure we would make it to gas station. I put 40 dollars in. I explained this when I return the truck but I was charged for gas, plus a gas fee plus the mileage was lower then expected. I was charged full price for the estimated mileage not the actual mileage. I was told by the manager of the location that she would adjust the price is for me but that was four days ago she hasn't returned my call and nothings been credited back I've always been happy with U-Haul up until this time and due to this experience I probably will never use U-Haul againCLYDE H.

Horrible customer service at drop off time. I was told to return by 7pm, I arrived at 6:45pm. I was told their system/computers were shut down and I had to complete the return myself on the website. The dashboard with the option â€œreturn my truckâ€ as shown on the pamphlet was not available and I asked for assistance in person. I was told no and that I could return the next day since they were closing in 5 minutes. They shut the lights while I was still inside and was told they were now closed.AMANDA C.
I was cery disapointed that although I had a reservation for 5pm the equipment was not available, the previous renter had not returned. At 6:48pm we were called to say that it was about to arrive, I asked the nice lady if there could be a discount and she informed me that I would get the 'reservation guarantee'. The equipment arrived around 7:30 when we paid I asked about the discount and the nice lady called her manager who said it was not valid vecause I eventually got the equipment. I don't understand how the equipment could be rented twice in one day, the extra day the previous renter paid as a late fee and my rental. This was quite in onvenient for us as we had to travel a further diastance (1 1/2) hours to get to this location as the equipment wasn't available any closer. Very disapointed in the managers call. None if the employees thought it was correct. This is the cirst time I've had an issue with Uhaul like this. So sad.Maxine D.

I reserved a 26 foot over a week in advance at a location 20 miles away. The reservation was canceled the day before our move because Uhaul said they tried several times to contact me for confirmation. When I said nobody ever contacted me they said all the calls went to a busy signal. That's BS. So I reserved a 20 foot at a location 50 miles away. I was then called to say I would not be able to have that at the reserved time and the only available option was a 15 foot. We had to make two trips instead of one. So a 40 mile round trip in a 26 foot ended up being 140 miles in a 15 foot. And to add insult to injury, the total cost was $185 more because of those extra miles. Absolutely ridiculous. Why offer online reservations if you will not honor them? Or at least compensate for the price. And when you call to make a reservation it takes over an hour to get through. I will never use Uhaul again. I will never recommend them. I will tell everyone I know not to use Uhaul. I am so disappointed and disgusted with the service I received.CAITLYN C.

My door did not close all the way I kept slamming it and it wouldn't close it was still cracked when I was driving the passenger rubber rubber seal keeps falling off my sister scraped her back getting in-and-out of the u-haul because the rubber seal kept falling off you guys should not rent this equipment if it's not safe and and the inside of the cabin smelled like gas! I called by 1 800 number to u-haul after I turned it in to make a complaint and they told me it was a 45 minute wait if I wanted to have a virtual call back they called me back and then it ring set if I was available then put me on ahold again for 50 minutes I hanged up I would like some kind of reimbursement of my money because this was not a good experience my phone number is 2 0 9 5 0 0 87 0 6ANGEL R.

The staff was friendly, the location is easily accessible, and the rental truck was clean. However, the tire pressure monitoring system warning light was on alerting to only 12 psi in LR tire. Upon notifying staff they dismissed it as either because of a spare tire that was installed (on RR) or a faulty sensor. I measured the pressure at home at it was in fact only 12 psi, after 30 minutes of highway driving. (I then added air w/my compressor.) No doubt the issue will be corrected, but the tort liability after being notified of a problem but dismissing it is not something that U-Haul wants to risk. Other than this matter, everything was excellent and I would recommend this facility.DAVID A.

The staff was friendly and professional. The process to pick up can be improved and preprocess before check in and it can be by passing taking the DMV license on the spot. It took a bit working on the cell phone and website. The process to pick up should be streamline and ready to pick up the keys. The process to pick up should have the truck ready to drive off instead the customer needed to look for it in the parking lot. The process to return the truck was smooth except I did not know where to park in the return line. (no signage). I suggest that a customer pickup and drop off from a local location will be greatly improved. The location and faculty should clean and organized so that it is easily for a customer to walkin to check out.HENRY K.

poor accounting of the mileage on the truck, I was charged for mileage I did not drive. Experiencing the poor behavior of these employees on pass rentals at this location, I'm sure it was miss mismanage on their part. I drove 12 miles and I was charged 42 miles. I will never rent from this location or U-haul ever aging. It's u-haul responsibility not the customer to make sure the mileage is correct not the customer. I'm wondering if this a pattern of this fraudulent behavior at this location?. Also the truck had a warning light check tire pressure flashing.MICHAEL W.

Not a review of this location, but Uhaul's service. We selected 24/7 pickup and had a checkin near closing time for our original location. We arrived an hour late, after the location closed and the reservation was canceled with no notification. At no point was I informed the reservation would be canceled for a late-show, because this is not the case with rental car services. Likewise, I selected 24/7 pickup, but apparently this requires the location to basically put the keys out, defeating the purpose of the late pickup. I had to drive 2 hours out of my way for a truck and burn another tank of gas. Overall, I will do everything in my power to avoid using a Uhaul again until communication is improved prior to pickup. Extremely poor customer service and very rude. Ive never had an issue renting from uhaul until I moved here. The girl was on her phone the entire time and didn't explain any type of details unless until it came time to triple charge me. The next day my coworker went in to rent a trailer and he messaged me saying he over heard a guy return trailer late and his card declined, they offered my name to him. When the vehicle was inspected and the online review completed, part of the vehicle was in the shade and therefore unable to be truly confirmed and "OK". Most of the pictures were disputed, there was mud on the cab of the truck and upon opening the back door an oily substance of some kind was left on the floor that could have ultimately caused a slip fall or ruined the items being moved.
