It was inconvenient, as my pick up was scheduled for a location just south of 235 in Des Moines, which was close to where we were packing. I learned about the change the day before. Because of the location of our hotel, I ended up having to drive half an hour to pick up the truck. I had a good experience with you except for that.

Duane AEmployee at the 1204 SE 16th CT Ankeny IA 50021 location on Sunday April 20th did not know how to check out a Car trailer AT4986Y to us. It took him an hour, WITH OUR help to figure out how to tell your system the the Make and Model of the towed vehicle vs the vehicle that would be towing the trailer. I felt like we were more knowledgeable in entering information into your system than your own employee. I suggest that there should be better training on how to use the system and better communication training. Also drop off to Blair NE at the Armor Storage on 150 S. 1st was unmanned and no employee was at the location for the drop off during your office hours of 9 to 5. When I called the number an employee told me that there is not a person to manage that location on a regular basis and I would guess that is losing U-Haul business if you don't have a person at the location.

GENE SDo not use this facility. My family and I are moving. The Uhaul in our current town asked us to bring a trailer along with the truck we rented for $50 off. We confirmed we had the Uhaul truck and trailer until the following Wednesday. We have a signed document saying it was due back Wednesday. On Tuesday, Ariana at the South Ankeny Uhaul location began calling my husband and I both. She claimed at different points that she was the owner. She called me saying that the Uhaul was due back at 8:30 AM Tuesday. She was upset and began telling me that she has someone there today who wants it. I told her that we had it until the following day and she continued to lament to me, someone two states away. Now, she has called my husband numerous times and just threatened to call the police if we do not return it today. Unreal. Multimodal harassment! The Uhaul customer service people were appalled at the texts that Ariana sent to my husband. I wish I could attach the screenshots here. This particular employee is unhinged and unethical. I can say that the customer service at Uhaul corporate has been very helpful throughout this ordeal. This situation is unbelievably unprofessional. Moving is tough enough on its own. Do yourself a favor and avoid this Uhaul location like the plague.

He encountered terrible slowness with the scheduling and billing system however - and ended up needing to call "traffic" to have an in-town reservation corrected and changed to a one-way rental. The process took much longer than it should have, but this is no reflection on Samuel and his efforts.

MICHAEL SWhen you pay for your unit and you move out they don't prorate your cost for the month. They just take your money, then the money for the rest of the month is gone. The unit can be rented again which means they make double the money for that unit. I will never use uhaul again for my storage needs

Prices kept going up, changed out door before we got there, even though we were supposed to meet up first, nobody on site as they took out office, hard to get through to anyone, online was not user friendly and I could never get logged in, so many rules, most the time-parking lot was being ‘repaired’ in multiple locations so u couldn’t get to your unit, costs weren’t worth all the inconveniences. Would NOT recommend uhaul owned unit!

Chrisstine COriginally started with 6310 Douglas location setup online was easy...then things went downhill fast. Received a voicemail to call them and was told they won't have a truck. Then during the call somehow that changed to oh we will have a truck but only an hour later. Got to location and the truck wasn't available, they worked to find us one at ankeny location. Got to ankeny and ran into some issues they worked to resolve. Went to take rental truck was dirty and only 1/8 of a tank of gas. We learned down the road ac did not work, already down on time and no other truck available had to run with it. Overall I hope they improve greatly before I need to rent again.

CHARLES DWhen looking for a storage unit I did not desire to go with U-Haul because of the bad experiences with renting trucks. Such as signing contracts at one facility and having to travel across town to fetch the truck. I started with Cube Smart because of the prices. Shortly after being at this location U-Haul purchased this location. The longer I stayed the MORE I REALIZED I am glad I stayed. U-Haul made many improvements that Cube Smart over looked while building at this site. 1- adding and improving security 2- improved water drainage from roof to run under concrete to make safer traveling, either walking/driving. 3- Cude Smart was in such a hiring to build they did not take in consideration for water drainage. Many outdoor units would flood. U-Haul came in fixed this. Thank you. 4- U-Haul improved 24 hour access to each storage unit. THANK YOU U-HAUL

DON J | Overall ExperienceI was supposed to have my trailer for another day. It was a 2 day rental when I booked it online, and when I talked to a representative. You can imagine my surprise when I received a phone call from the employee asking where the trailer was, while I was in the process of traveling to my unloading destination. Wasn’t much help in trying to fix my issue but didn’t charge me a late fee so that’s a plus (never should have been late in the first place, still trying to figure out where the switch up came from), since they apparently had someone booked to be leaving with it next morning. Just know when you book a trailer to be picked up and dropped off at the same place, they might call you and make you pick it up much further away.
Olivia PPower was out—not their fault but the equipment I reserved was not available and the truck ran poorly but worked well enough to get the job done.

Ralph AFirst, they identify the vans by total length. Not by box length. So a 15 footer only has a 10 foot box. Second, the prices for their insurance online is different than in store. It's nearly twice as much in store and they won't give you the price quoted online. Third, you have to estimate how many miles you will be driving the rental and pay for it in advance. If you drive less then anticipated, you don't get refunded the difference. So estimate short. Fourth, the people working are friendly enough and the vehicle I rented was in great shape. I wouldn't have hesitated driving it anywhere.

Then I moved out 13 days early because it was the only time I had help and a trailer,before I left out of state for a month. I was also not prorated the difference back to me. Any place I have ever rented always prorated me back the difference and I wasn't under any contact.

Jerry DNobody ever answered the phone in Ankeny. 800 telephone number was horrible. Nobody could find my unit and confirm it was canceled, after I spoke to someone telling me it was canceled. Even the lady at the storage unit told me it was cancelled, she lied, you charged me again on my credit card. So I would never recommend this place to anyone!

UHaul had to place drains in front of downhill west facing units as they would direct water in after rain storms. When they constructed the drainage system it left a thick layer of concrete dust all over my belongings. At least the rectified the problem.

Went to that location and neither of the workers knew how to complete the storage rental. The manager walked them through it via phone. I go back to the storage and my passcode is inactive. I called the store and the managers cell phone that was on her business card, I got no answer. Customer service did answer and told me there was nothing they could do, they also couldn't get a hold of anyone and the location was closed till the next day. Was told to contact them tomorrow. My belongings were still in the truck so I also couldn't return the truck till the next evening. The manager redid my storage via phone but refused to compensate me for the extra mileage and gas from having to drive the truck back to west Des Moines to store it overnight and back to Ankeny the next day to empty it. I went to get the map of the storage and there was still no record of me having a unit paid for or reserved. The employee called the manager again and had her walk him through it and I was finally able to empty and return the truck but I still don't know if my pass code is active, the drive thru door was open when I arrived.

Much easier for auto pay. Trying to reach Nikki Newton is quite a challenge. Using her # leads to holds and forwards and disconnects without ever reaching her. And if she sends an email, why do I have to be on a special list for her to get my reply? Totally not customer oriented!

Workers park their personal vehicles in the building so you have to track that person down or try to figure something else out. I left half way thru the month due to moving so U-Haul gets to keep what was left of my rent paid. I find that ridiculous.

Unfortunately when we took our boat to store, the garage door opening wasn't wide enough -- go figure! Why would you have a 10x25 foot unit with a smaller door? We should have measured when we first checked out the space. The good news was that even though Uhaul didn't honor the discounted rate, the first month was free, so fortunately we were not out anything, other than a last minute scramble to find a new storage unit. Staff was helpful and did what they could to process our move out timely.

It was very disappointing when we came to do all the paperwork for our check in date that the price we had reserved under Cube Smart wasn't going to be honored. Now it's too late to find another space that will meet our needs, so we will end up paying significantly more than we planned to spend. It would have been rated higher if the price we reserved under would have been honored. Hopefully all will go smoothly during our rental period. The team who checked us in were not able to do anything about the price difference.
