I never had an issue with U-haul before and this time it was just disappointing, The truck that I initially rented was leaking due to heavy rain on my moving day, ceiling was leaking and I could not load any of my stuff, when I called customer service, the first person I spoke to wasn't very professional nor friendly. I explained about the situation and she said she is going to a road side assistance, which doesn't make any sense, ceiling of the truck was leaking and if the road side assistance come to my place, what would they do? Then she said I need to drop off the current truck and pick up another truck them I will need to pay both of trucks, which also doesn't make sense. Them later, she gave me a big sigh over the phone and being sarcastic, ok ok that's U-haul fault, and we will send another truck to your place, to be able to send you another truck, we need to transfer your call to another department. My phone call was transferred without any arrangements and I had to explain 2 more times to get another truck. You should check the conversation through the phone because your call has recorded and see how she speaks to a customer. Very disappointed. 3rd person at scheduling department was pleasant to deal with, she found a resolution, and got me an emergency swap, however, the 1st service represent promised to send me a new truck to my place, I had to drop off and pick up another truck myself. I had to fill up both trucks which I spent extra money and wasted much more time which resulted in me pay extra to movers. And no follow up has been provided to me. I don't know if someone will check this survey and provide me a certain compensation, in case I don't get any contact, I will reach out to head office or customer service to file a complaint about this experience and spending extra money. I am not sure if I would use U-haul again in the future.

I had to drive 35 mins in the opposite direction to pick up my truck because the day before my move you changed my truck order. Then you failed to give me the credit I was promised for your error. Will not recommend to anybody ever. Don't even get me started on the condition of the truck. Clean yes, running properly hell no. If there were stars to give out id give Zero

This location has no way to complete reservation pick up . There is no computer on sight. So do all your work on line before coming. The service was thorough. The padlock on my truck was not usable.

People were pleasant, but not helpful. The vehicle should’ve been clean on the outside or at best the snow should have been removed from the truck in order for me to do a circle check for damages and I was told to remove the snow off large cube truck myself

My pick up time was 12 noon on Friday February 2025, it was very hard to get to the equipment because of the snow and I had to clean the equipment my self, the gas tank was half full, I return the equipment on the same day February 14, 2025 at 18:30, after filling up gas above the half tank ( so I put a bit more gas than it was), total driven KM was 77KM, ( I have pictures when I picked up the equipment and when I returned) yesterday on February 18, 2025 I got a phone call from u-haul in Brampton from number 9057906916 asking me if I still have the equipment or I returned it on Friday or Saturday, I said I returned it on Friday same day, Yesterday night I was shocked to get the receipt from U-haul charging me for 5 days rental plus 6 litter of gas with the total of $225.53, I have been renting from U-haul for many years and its the first time this happen.

They were closed at 5, and supposed to be open until 7. As a result I had to try my vehicle return on the app which operates terribly. It would not accept my photos despite them being exactly like the examples and as instructed on the video. So it took me 45 mins to return the vehicle and a phone call to your call centre to complete it. FIX YOUR APP

Tank 1/4 full, store location not open at pick up time, check engine light on and owner thought all of this was my fault. Highly unlikely to use U-Haul again, strongly regret using in the first place, almost jeopardized our house closing day. Awful experience, customer service

We paid for 12 blankets which were not in the truck. We only realized this once we got home. It was very difficult to contact the location via phone. We later learned that their store phone was broken. The lady at the store was friendly and helpful.

We reserved a truck and when we went to pick it up the back door was open and would not close! It was pouring rain and I was soaked and the agent didn’t come out to look but instead had me drive the truck to the front of her store for her to look and not get wet and then told me to put it back when she had finished looking! I was then told to make the call to have it serviced and waited three hours before I could pick up the truck! This seriously delayed my move and is not acceptable! I was charged the full rate too

dropped off one way truck. just hand in keys, store was open, did not offer to inspect truck and settle bill. they tried to process on my credit card next day and this locked my card for suspicious use. Had to straighten out with bank. then got threating email from U-Haul for bill not paid. Very unhappy with this experience

The truck we were given had a Uhaul combination lock on the door at the back. We did not discover the lock until we arrived at the moving location approx. 17 k away. We tried to call the attendant and only after approx 10 calls did he pick up the phone. He did not know the combination and called someone at Uhaul that could not help. We drove the truck back to the Uhaul location. He had other trucks on the lot but said they are not available because we were dropping the truck at another location. It was sheer luck that we tried a combination that worked and we were able to use the truck. We wasted an hour and a half. He said he would credit me one way for the drive back to the Uhaul location. I said he should credit two ways but he did not understand and I didn’t want to waste any more time arguing about a 17k charge. Not to mention the time wasted. If we did not have the luck to find the combination for the lock my only option for that day would have been to rent a truck that I would have to return to that location. We were travelling from Stouffville to Prince Edward County. Not impressed.

Reserved online 3 weeks prior for self pick up. Arrived at location and had to wait 1.5 hours for the store to open. Owner could only say “oh.” His wife later said her husband forgot to put the key the lock box. Truck had less than a quarter tank of gas which pushed me even later resulting in losing our moving slot at the condo and having to store things in temp storage till later that day. 30 mins of the phone with uhaul all they could do was send me a further 25 mins out of the way to pick up at another location that’s open.

The trailer I rented (the biggest one available) didn’t d nit come with a jack to lift it on and off my truck. I have a drop hitch ball but I still had to blow out my back to get it on. Never renting from U-Haul ever again. Not sure if it just this location but that’s horrible practice.

Agent was very helpful hooking up the trailer which was too heavy for me to lift. I appreciated that. In addition I was a little late returning the rental but was not charged any extra fees. 😊

Parking spots for trailers can be difficult to access when returning the equipment. Perhaps designate spots with better access for trailers backing in would help expedite the return and reduce the change for damage to U-Haul equipment and personal towing vehicles.

My pick up time was 15:30 on March 06, & I had to wait in my car for 55 minutes because my rental van was not there, I missed my appointment and throw off my schedule for the next day because I couldn’t load the van on the pick up date, I was very disappointed

This is our third interaction with this location. The trucks are usually relatively clean, but there is always some clean garbage lying around in the cargo box, eg: plastic bags, plastic bottles, etc. Your apps have something to be desired. Downloaded to my phone, but was not able to sign in or create a new account no matter how I tried. The equipment rental link would not recognize my location although my locator was active on both my phone and browser. Both the estimated receipts and the transaction receipts would also be far clearer if they spoke the country's language. ie: km are km. We are not in the US. I need not know what is charged for the mile, and when estimating distance, I should not have to do conversions for another country! As well, when attempting to get rates, the results are inconsistent.

The owner of the store, I believe his name is Michael, called me crazy and was screaming at me over the phone while I was trying to explain to him how I was charged by U-Haul with my bank account while he also took $100 cash from me. I do not appreciate that one bit. The lady I think her name is Wendy is very nice

I reserved 2 dollys and a 15 ft. Truck at the newmarket location. The day before pickup I was emailed that it was now at stoufville and there was only 1 dolly available. Also I declined the $48. Extra safe drive insurance but was charged for it anyway. I will be asking for a refund. had to take an uber to get there.

This is the first uhaul location I have been to that I had to hook up my own trailer which I would have had no problem with if there wasn't a 2 foot tall frozen snow bank in front of it, I had to chip the snowbank back before I could even get to the trailer

-Truck service light was on but attendant said it was fine. -Truck was unstable and unsafe to drive. -Truck had over 200K km's with an Anerican licence plate -Dolly ordered had been stolen and no longer available. -furniture dolly ordered was not available and appliance dolly given instead. -Customer service was poor. Attendant arrived late to work and did not want to be helpful as he was rushing to open the store late. We were an inconvenience to him. We wasted 30 min. working through various issues before we could even get on the road and we had a right timeline.

Engine oil light was on - should check and add oil before signing out the truck. The vehicle was very clean and the brakes were good. The truck was very noisy starting in first gear and quieted down when it got going to 50 kms an hour but would repeat being noisy when I slowed down or stopped.

We didn’t select the additional damage coverage on the site yet it was still added to our invoice. They gave us the truck with no gas which made it difficult to have to measure out our trip to ensure we brought it back at the same level. Having to go from the truck pick directly to the gas station wasn’t convenient since we were on a tight timeline for our move.

Start with a full tank of gas. Our truck was only 3/4 full. Send receipt of usage promptly. ie. immediately after truck is returned.

The truck was full of dirt and twigs, it was not clean as advertised. The 10 moving blankets were dirty from previous use. I took 5 of them to cover up the dirt so furniture could be moved. I was so discussed and the Chinese lady was not even interested to see the dirt for herself. I WANT MY MONEY REFUNDED ASAP PLEASE.

The truck had definite mechanical issues. I was only going a short distance so I put up with it. Had I been going across country I would have returned it and went elsewhere. When I returned I told them about the problem. The individual told me it had just been serviced , but would report it and have it looked at.

I did feel that I completed all documentation online along with giving copies of my drivers license. When I went to the location to pick up the truck I was again asked for all of the information I had provided online as well as my drivers licence. Then a phone call was made to someone to verify everything.? I had been given confirmation of my order by email……. All of the additional questions at pickup shouldn’t be happening if the online process is complete

I would tell you this was my first time engaging with a "mobile pick up and drop off" technology and I have to say you guys did an AMAZING job! I have rented a number of moving trucks and cars and all have been at the classic "rental desk" which takes far too long for filling them out and signing all the forms. Well done on the mobile pick up and drop off. One suggestion would be that when I booked the vehicle online there was the option after registering the rental to wait and "check in later" or check in then....i was not clear on all that this entailed and was glad I checked in early as it then went through all the collection of drivers license info and personal info which saved some time the morning of the rental. It was interesting to see you wanted the same thing again on rental day to ensure it was the same person renting....a little overlap but I understand why you asked for it. Overall great rental experience!
