Although I had to go out of my way to Winters instead of Fairfield, I was able to find the location alright. The representative at the Winters Self Storage was friendly and helpful. I was able to purchase some mattress protectors and a padlock/key that was available on site. The representative took the time to explain the initial charges for the U-Haul rental truck and even drove the truck outside of the gated area for me.

Came here to get a U-Haul and compared to the previous one we got there was not much mention of anything. The lady basically handed us the keys and gave us a different location to drop off which I thought she was just mentioning the one I chose to go to when I clicked it online. Though she did give us extra miles, it was more of a hassle. It was a changed location and it wasn’t even the one that was closest to my apartment. Not only that but the place was closed when she had told us it was open until 5pm that day and we got there at 3pm. Therefore we had to call customer support and they helped us. I wish it was the original place we have chosen or she could have looked up where we were going to double check. The other U-Haul place came out and told us to take photos of the truck before and were super kind, but it could have been since they just opened. Also, she mentioned that Monday was a holiday, and said that we would have to call around first to make sure they are opened on Monday’s if we were to drop it off Monday but why doesn’t the U-Haul app tell them if they are opened or not. Why do I have to go around calling and seeing if their open. Wouldn’t they just give you another extra day? That is more of a concern for U-Haul and how they run their business.

Samuel YI drove to 4 locations to get my guaranteed rental. From concord ca to san Rafael, then to two locations in woodland then finally to winters. 138 miles to get a truck then 50 more home to start my move. Totally unacceptable. Next time please honor original pickup location or at least the next one I am sent to.

Returning the truck was easy and took only a few minutes. Over all good experience and made it one less thing to worry about for our move..

Lee WAll the paperwork and information from the website was different when we got to the office. The office was very helpful in correcting the issues, but it took some time. Also, both the pick up and drop off locations were not what I had requested, which meant driving half an hour out of my way in both directions.

Renee RWe had requested pick up in the town we were moving from (Woodland CA which has 3locations). The pick up location was moved to a town 15 miles away which cost us time and money. We called U Haul for help to try to change location they weren't helpful at all.
Nancy MMy reservation was made for a location much closer to where I live. I had to take a cab to this location and am not happy about the extra expense.
Lance TUhaul should warn people before cancelling their reservation. I had no idea my reservation would be forfeited if I was late. It made an already stressful situation (moving) even more stressful and I had to go an hour out of my way to get another truck. It was a horrible experience and I would caution people against using uhaul in the future.

MATTHEW SWhen we left the gas gauge was right at the edge of the full line and we called that full just as the owner did. When we returned it at that exact same spot she made a huge deal that it was not fill and she asked us to go putore gas in to make it full or we would be charged extra. This was very petty and unnecessary. We went and put $4 more I'm gas to pass the full line.
Michelle MWhen I got there I was told that I might get charged an extra fee because I was not on their schedule. I pumped extra gas and all blankets were folded and no damage on truck. When I asked why I was going to be charged if truck was returned on time, with extra gas, and under the mileage that I was told I could drive. When I asked how much I was going to be charged due to I don't know what, the staff couldn't tell me the amount. Staff member went out to inspect the truck and check her computer and of all the sudden she told me that there was no charge. Even though I was happy that no extra fees were to be paid I just didn't like the fact that according to this location I was not on their schedule to return the truck, that they couldn't tell me why I had to pay more fees and the amount.

John MI am grateful for the front desk helper. She was friendly and knid. I am grateful for the U-Haul insurance she sugested. Overall, I would come back again just because the people. One thing about the location is the need for a overnight drop for the large trucks.

Patricia LThe return went relatively easy. He was able to help me out with the return of the wrong dolly. He told me to complete this review in the hope that the next person would have a better experience. I didn't realize that I would have to pay extra for the mileage that went over ($9). He told me that the first place should have told me about the mileage and that I should have looked at it, not just looked at the gas gage. I returned it with less gas and he told me that it was $30 plus $4 a gallon if he had to fill it. So I took it back out and put gas in it. He also told me to sweep out the back or I would have to pay for cleaning. Wish I would have known that in Kirkland because the truck was very dirty, inside and out.
STARLA HManager was major grumpy. Clerk was late. Got no instructions for truck, just 'it's all yours'. Otherwise, all was as expected.
KENNETH CThe larger locations in Davis or Vacaville would have been much easier to get to on the U-Haul redirect from my preferred pick-up location. The drive was an additional 18-20 miles, one-way, and added almost an hour to the process of picking up the trailer. Between the extra gas and loss of time, it was a miserable experience. This was no fault of any of the staff at either location--the people I dealt with on site were friendly and helpful. The blame for this lies fully on whatever system is in place to determine the best place to redirect a customer for needed equipment. Additionally, U-Haul did not contact me by email, as requested, to confirm pick-up location, I had to go to my requested location first only to be sent an additional 40 miles out of my way. Very upsetting.

LARA PI would recommend this location if the other person lived in Winters, but the man was weird when I dropped the trailer off! It was after hours, but he came out and didn't want me to leave the trailer where I left it, outside the gate, because the gate was closed (24 hour drop off). Then he wanted me to come back the next day to move it, but my friend with the trailer hitch drove out of town to her home that night. I was sick the next day, so didn't go back. He just doesn't have the "people skills" that most of your employees have!
