So i initially booked at 2620 Garden St. original pick up time was 9 am on feb 16. At 8:42 am, I got a call from u haul saying that the 10 feet truck that i booked is not available. So i told them whats the point of making a reservation if u haul cant honour it. then i was told okay a truck has been arranged for me at this very location for 9 am (the original scheduled time). I was there at 9 sharp, only to be disappointed. there was no truck available for self pickup (I booked online self check in and pick up). I phoned u haul. The agent on the call helped me and transferred/changed my reservation to a nearby different location. But I lost an hour in all of this. very very disappointed at this RJ1 MOTORS location, and also at the agent who told me (basically lied to me) that everything was good to go and that a truck has been made available at the very location that i initially booked for (RJ1 MOTORS), only to be left disappointed.
SIMARJOT DThe clerk was very kind however he arrived 15 minutes after opening and everyone was standing outside the door wondering if anyone was going to show up and open for business. There are no markers or decals on the door to indicate this was actually a UHAUL location other than the trucks sitting on the lot. I walked around the building twice, walking into other businesses, and they told me that it was by APP ONLY and no one would be there to open up. The website indicated Saturday hours from 9:00am to 3:00pm. I wanted to arrive earlier but was told over the phone that my truck wouldn't be ready until 11:00am because they needed to get it ready. When I got the truck I had to back it out of a squeezed space. I only did some quick paperwork with the agent once he arrived and he pointed to the lot to where the truck was at. I also wanted 2 dozen furniture pads and a dolly. There was a pile of opened, used furniture pads on the floor behind a desk that I sorted out to what was dry, what was damp, and what was soaking wet. I managed to dig out 24 dryish furniture pads and get a yellow dolly. I loaded them into the truck and then went back to the agent to see if he needed to check things with me and he said "NO, YOU'RE GOOD TO GO". So I left. I photographed the odometer reading when I left that showed the mileage and the fuel level, and I photoed it on the return including the 24 nicely folded furniture pads and dolly that I left inside the truck.
STEVEN SAlthough I had provided my drivers licence at time of booking, there was a hassle at pickup because my licence is issued in a province other than the pickup location. Validation failed due to ‘out of state licence’. This is absurd in the context of Canada. And even if it is an issue for some strange reason, you should have flagged that the moment that I submitted my licence for validation at the time of reservation. For an otherwise advanced booking and vehicle pickup process this is a fundamental failing. Aside from the fact that seeing ‘out of state’ really annoys Canadians
Kim TFuel was empty on pick up. Had to show up an hour earlier than my booked time. Frustrating on a move day when the day has been scheduled. Was told to just put in however much fuel I wanted to get my move done since the fuel tank was empty.
