When I arrived no one was at the location at all despite it stating that I was able to come and pick up the truck for 9:30 am through mobile pickup. So I arrived there shortly after 9:50 and ran into what appeared an empty junkyard with a single lonesome U-Haul truck on the curbside. After banging on the door of the house?/office?, not sure what to call it really.. I called U-Haul dispatch to find out what the deal was.... It turned out that the owner/employee never showed up as they were supposed to, to set up the truck for us after the previous night drop off of it during the night because he didn't think the money from it is worth his time (his exact words). This left myself and my child standing outside in the frigid temperatures of the cold morning air trying to troubleshoot with customer service different lock locations for the keys and trying to get into contact with the owner of the property. This then resulted in a friend of the owner initially coming by I explained the issue to him and said this isn't how you treat customers or other humans who are waiting for you guys out in the cold and are paying for a service in full prior. He looked at me while on with customer relations and said "we don't give a crap about your business, go elsewhere then" and started walking away quickly. Following that I was still on with customer service/dispatch when the manager showed up well over an hour after the booked pick up time for the equipment and his response was he didn't give a crap because because he didn't make enough money doing it. This has honestly really soured my perception of the company and whether or not I will use U-Haul for truck rentals moving forward.

When booking the truck, I selected the in person check-in option because the pickup was during business hours. When I showed up, the doors were locked and nobody was on the premise. From that point on, it took more than half an hour of multiple phone calls with people from Interstate Motors and U-Haul dispatch to finally access the truck because online check-in no longer worked to open the coded lock containing the truck key.
Domagoj SI wanted to arrange for counter pick-up and deal with a person. I could not get to the point on the app or online to be able to register properly because something had to be overwritten on the end of customer service. We reserved the moving vehicle for 9:30am which was the opening time on the Uhaul dealer information. We arrive and the business is completely locked up and no one was present. We left and came back half an hour later which is when Google said they were open and still no one there. Called Uhaul for customer service support and they were very helpful and got us the vehicle keys by walking us through the reservation a second time. The vehicle was cold, the windows encased in frost and ice. This also slowed us down and set us back far enough that we were unable to make the window we had booked with someone to give us help to remove a 3 seater couch from a very tight basement suite. Any time I have ever rented a vehicle in the past it is clean, warmed up and frost/snow free and fully gassed up. Thankfully we were not moving a long distance because it was only half full. All in all a disappointing experience except for the lady who helped us over the phone from Uhaul customer service. So we had zero interaction whatsoever with the building owner or their staff. Basically just a rented parking spot from this business.
