Thank you so much to everyone at U-Haul. You were all good to us on the California side and the Arizona side. We are settled and we could not do it without you people every time we need to move or have a truck for some kind of experience that we have having in life, we always come to you Kudos to U-Haul
Rosemary OTreasures R Us was a fallback pickup location. Originally I requested a pickup on 8/22 at 8:00 AM in my home city of Banning, CA. Unfortunately the earliest a pickup could be scheduled was 10:00 AM. I had help coming to help pack and load at that time, so on 8/19 arrangements were made through Hector in The Riverside Scheduling Office to get a truck and dolly at a towing company in San Jacinto, CA about 30-40 minutes away, at 9:00 AM, which he explained at the time was the best he could do.. When I arrived at the Complete Recovery & Towing, Anthony knew of my order, but could not fill it completely because he didn't have a tow dolly available. Apparently the one he had hoped to have had been damaged and he was not provided with a replacement. He contacted Scheduling, suggesting I be sent to Treasures R Us, further away from my home and costing me more time and aggravation, where I was set up with a larger truck than requested, bigger than I needed, but with the required tow dolly. Treasures R Us had only six blankets when I had requested two dozen. They did not charge me for them, but not having the requested blankets made my packing more difficult. Treasures R Us understood my predicament and really worked hard to get me on the road quickly with the limited support they receive from U-Haul, for that I am grateful. They even set me up with their newest truck, only +/- 7,000 miles on it, to keep the risk of breakdown to the absolute minimum, because with the luck I was having with this rental, that would have been a given. Hector also told me that U-Haul was having a tough time keeping a supply of trucks in California, and if I returned the truck early, there would be consideration for doing so, but would not tell me how much. When I turned in the truck and tow dolly in Maricopa, AZ this morning, a day early, The gentleman at the counter knew nothing of what I spoke and suggested I call Customer Service, and April patched me through to someone else, only to learn that no, there is no consideration for returning trucks and equipment early. I further spoke with DeeDee in the Riverside Scheduling Office who said the same thing. I asked if Hector lied to me and DeeDee waffled, suggesting that he's new in his job. I asked again if he had lied and she continued to prevaricate, saying he may not have been completely truthful. U-Haul seriously needs to clean up its scheduling and supply act. Stop hiring children and start hiring adults. Getting equipment to the places where customers need it should be paramount. Everything possible should be done to meet customer's needs and that is not happening. Unfortunately renting from U-Haul was an experience filled with anxiety. There's no good reason to bounce a customer through different outlets to get equipment, like Clint Eastwood running between phone booths half the night across San Francisco in the movie, "Dirty Harry." Renting equipment shouldn't be a ransom run, and don't lie about discounts to get customers to turn in equipment early. Hector should consider another line of work. Maybe it can be suggested to him.
Greg VI needed a truck in Banning and had to drive to Hemet to get it. People there were professional but waisted almost 2 hours.
JAMES Athis was the worst experience we have ever experienced. the truck AC didn't work and we broke down in the middle of the AZ Desert with extreme beat warnings waited 4 hours to get tire repaired. We were only 60 miles from Phoenix which you would think big city we could get someone within an hour. We leave at 5am trying to beat the heat and didn’t realize there was no AC until around 845am, by this time we were over 3 hours into our drive. When we picked the truck up there was not a systems check by the lady that checked us in. Our assumption was the truck was working properly and ready to go!
