The employees at the location were exemplary. I have literally no critique; they were quick, courteous, cool, and completely professional. I DO, however, have a critique of the online checkout program which I tried to use before needing to go into the office. It was a complete and total failure. I presume that "Ron" (the name given for the person trying to verify my headshot and my i.d., didn't think they matched. That's only a guess. All the info I was given was that the checkout was in process and then I was given a slightly misspelled, form-letter-esque denial of my ability to use the online checkout. So the physical uhaul facility and employees get a ten out of ten and the online system and employees get a zero out of ten.

I had originally reserved a van and was given a truck instead. The measurements original given to me for the van were incorrect and the wheel wells were less than 5 feet wide which was a spec I had specked as important. The truck worked our better in the long run but such last minute switches are frustrating. The people who come in and spend 45 minutes to simply rent a truck drive me crazy. I made a reservation and there should be a "reservations only" line, just like the DMV. The rest of the experience went smoothly and I continue to use this location because it is close and generally, a smooth process. The yard guys can be zombies. A hard job so sure, but important if you want to make the customers experience excellent. A friendly yard guy can soften the blow of an endless wait in line. General Grade for this location: B+. Absolutely horrible experience! I picked Uhaul over much cheaper options because I thought I was going to get a smooth and easy experience. I really feel I should get a partial refund because of how bad it was. Spent almost $1,000 and had my hitch instalation appointment bummped back so many times that they made us get the installation the day of my actual MOVE, without guaranteeing that the parts would be there OR the trailer itself. Spent hours the week of the move on the phone with people who where unable to help at all. Finally, two days before my move, and several forwarded calls later, someone was able to at least guarantee that the trailer would be where I reserved it... oh yeah because they tried to get me to drive across LA to pick up the trailer when they postponed my hitch installation more then a week... how am I supposed to get a trailer when I don't have a hitch??? I spent the week of my move stressed by these calls and wondering if on the day of my move if I would how to leave my belongings behind since they wouldn't all fit in my car, I was moving six hours away, and it was the last day of my lease. WHY DID I SPEND SO MUCH MONEY?????????? Oh and when my hitch was instaled and trailor attached no one explained how to safely operate the car with a trailor and when I ask for them to send me info on it they sent me a video on attaching a trailer... we eventually found the video ourselves. We didn't get the trailer until about 1 on our move out day so we couldn't hit the road out of town until almost 8pm... meaning we had to get a hotel that night and make a one day move into two.

I was charged $900 because someone at this store led me astray and gave me the wrong insurance to cover my truck and then charged me like a thief in the night. It has been nearly impossible to get in contact with the store manager or anyone who works at the location without visiting the location and I just moved.

My comment stems not so much from the location but rather the service. I don't usually leave comments/reviews unless the service was pretty bad. In this case, it's not the customer service that was bad but operations altogether. Having placed a reservation with Uhaul on Friday, 8/31 for a 4-hour move from 10am-2pm on Saturday, 9/1, I checked in normally (not online the day before) and went to 3573 Overland (from my old apartment - a distance of 1.2 miles); the store manager indicated that the truck was not there. I then had to call Customer Service, which told me that I had to go to 4550 Hollywood Blvd (12 miles from my old apartment) to pick up the truck. These extra miles should not have been charged to my account, and I should have a refund since the fact that the original truck was not available was out of my control, and I received no advance notice. Upon getting the new reservation at Hollywood, I was told that I'd have a $50 reservation credit. I asked if this money would be transferred to my banking account twice (both in person at the 4550 Hollywood location and then on the phone on Tuesday, 9/4 with a customer service representative. Both answered that my banking account would be credited. And then speaking on the phone today 9/12 with Monica, she answered promptly and gave me a credit. But this credit was for future use with Uhaul. I will not be using Uhaul anytime soon, mostly because I'm not going to be moving and also because of the way this process was handled. While I see that refunding this money is not an option from the credit Terms & Conditions, please reconsider and make that option available. Why bother having a reservation function if the trucks will not be available?

Everything was great. The customer rep who checked me was very nice and helpful. When I needed extra take to return my equipment they were very understanding. Once I got there and had a few boxes to unload and the service was nice enough to help me out. Great guys! Great service!

The app promised skipping the line to pick up keys directly - I pre-ordered the truck but still had to wait in line for half an hour. The truck was padlocked and I wasn't told - almost left without realizing, which would've added several miles to the trip. The staff was confused and yelled at me to move my car, nobody helped me find my truck in the confusing lot, and it was a hassle to get the dolly I ordered (and overpaid for) as well.

We only needed at Cargo Van (due to height clearance issues), but we where told all the cargo vans where reserved. We only used the van for five hours locally, and returned it to the same location. When I returned the 10' foot truck, which was to high to clear the two different locations. I noticed the majority of the cargo vans where still parked in the same exact spots. I was rather disappointed, as we had the personally make extra trips to and from the truck over long distances. So was rather unhappy, and exhausted by the end of the day.

I put in the reservation for a U-box over a month ago to get ready for my move across the country, and when I get there the box is damaged. The first thing we noticed when we opened the door was that it looked like a fork truck drove through the side of it, which I guess is ok since the box was still useable; but my initial concern was that we would be charged extra for the damage. The person at the Hollywood location took pictures of it, and said that he would link them to my contract. So we then began to pack the box. After we finished, we went to close the door, and noticed that the latch was broken as well. There was no place to actually put a lock. I spoke to the same person that took the pictures of the inside, and he assured me that they would take the box to the storage warehouse to get the latch fixed because they don’t have U-Box parts there on site. Which, does make sense. I do understand that it’s not a common thing to have a latch break. The problem I have is that he told me that they HAVE to take it the same day, and that also is what I was told by multiple people when I reserved the box in the first place. He told me they can’t have packed boxes on site. Again, this made sense to me. Especially since that location is not a very good location because there are homeless people living on the sidewalk right across the street, and I have seen people go through the trucks after hours to look for blankets. It happened the last time I moved. This is really where my problem begins. When I called the next morning, they told me that the box is still in the Hollywood location, and it won’t be moved until they’re able to get to it; it was still sitting there next to the side walk, unlocked. The person I spoke with said they are busy, and won’t be able to get to it right away. He didn’t understand why I was concerned that they should move my box ASAP, even after telling him they told me it was going to be moved yesterday, and that it doesn’t have a lock on it because uhaul gave me a defective box. How am I supposed to know if someone lopened that box overnight? I have to worry about the contents of my box now for the next month before I’m able to open it when I arrive.

This place was brilliant, HOWEVER I HAVE MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING MY RETURN. Before this, I went to the location Safety Cycle at 1018 N Western Ave and they complained that they NEVER accepted returns and told U Haul couple times they don’t accept returns. My sister went over to U Haul at Western Ave and they persisted that their location for returns are ‘appointment only’ and asked to call the central u haul. Finally 4550 Hollywood Blvd accepted our returns with open hearts. This system is a mess and I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED that this happened. I am never renting a U Haul ever again. Fix this. Also, your customer service is also VERY BAD.

How can you charge $25 for blankets not being folded? Your technician saw the truck while we were standing there and didn't say anything about the blankets not being folded correctly!! He said 'everything looks fine' 'we didn't need anything else'. Only to let us walk away so you can charge us $25!! Great customer service.

This was NOT our desired location. We were rerouted 15 miles out of our way. The online reservation system does not allow you to request another location. You must begin a new reservation all over again. And then if that one is rerouted and you're trying to get back to the previous reservation, the Customer Service somehow is unable to refer you back to your original reservation - which was still there but after no less than five phone calls, still unresolved.

The most incompetent and careless crew costing me several hundred dollars in moving costs. The crew and manager had no regard for my complaint and wasted my entire Saturday for the mistake they made.I have utilized Uhaul many times over the past month or so. LOOK IT UP. I have never been treated so poorly by such incompetent crew and manager. I demand a full refund of the charges for this rental.
