Prior to my reservation at a different location, I was contacted by U-Haul to request a change in location (that was further away) in exchange for a reduction in rate. I agreed to this and chose the mobile pick up option because it touted convenience and the lender's location was closed on Sundays. When I arrived to pick up the truck, the U-Haul mobile pick up was telling me I was in the wrong location, no matter how many times I refreshed my location and the GPS, even though I was at the correct address and could even see the U-Haul trucks. When I called the hotline, I was told to wander around hoping wherever their GPS satellite is would pick me up... It was 19 degrees outside and I was just wandering around the property of this empty building waiting for the representative to tell me on the phone I was in the right location. She then directed me to my phone settings to make sure location services were on (they were) and to change a setting for precise location. After this, there were numerous other steps involved in the check out process (operating against the easy, quick, convenience advertised for mobile pickup), that ended up taking approximately 25 minutes in the cold just to check out this truck. I also had to incorporate a third party whose name wasn't on the reservation just to verify I guess my identity because me and my brother who was with me weren't enough, even though his name wasn't on the reservation and he was just listed as a potential other driver. Finally, when we were ready to leave, we opened the cab of our truck and saw that the appliance dolly that I had pre-paid for was not in the truck and no one was in the lender's building to ask about it. Pretty frustrated at this time, we thankfully checked another U-Haul truck that was next to our reserved one and the dolly we rented was placed in the wrong/other truck instead of in our own. I am annoyed that this was another complication and that I had to go looking for the equipment I had ordered. Later in the day, when navigating through the app, I wanted to see what it would cost to extend our rental 30-60 minutes so when I clicked the button that indicated so (assuming it would take me to another page to approve before finalizing this decision, it went ahead and added an hour without confirmation. I then had to call U-Haul back to be sure I wouldn't incur a charge I didn't approve of. The truck operated great, was clean, and served its purpose for me this day, but the customer experience was not at all positive and I was very displeased with that side of things.
