Friendly staff, very courteous and professional. The renting process was relatively painless. The only complaint I have is that when I was quoted the price over the phone I wasn't told about the $10 "service fee" (insurance?) nor the penalty (minimum $100 charge) if paying with cash. These things need to be told to the consumer up-front. I ended up paying with a card and opting for the service fee but I didn't like being surprised when I went to pick up the van.

The windshield washer was directed to the front of the van - the exact opposite direction of the windshield. The van was very dirty on the outside. That said, it was clean on the inside of the cab and the inside of the cargo area.

This was by far the best UHaul experience I've ever had. I've had such bad ones in the past that I'm very reluctant to use UHaul, but I'm glad I did for this move. We arrived first thing in the morning. It was busy, but the line was attended to quickly. The attendant was quick, friendly, and explained the process well. When we returned the truck, we were attended to quickly and given our final balance (which was lower than what we expected since we didn't drive as far as we had thought) right there in the parking lot. Minimal waiting, minimal hassle. I will use UHaul again...but ONLY in this location! Thank you so much!!

After recently moving with Penske and driving a gas guzzler across the country, I had high hopes for Uhaul and thought we would probably go with them from now on for our moving needs. We had a storage unit in Alabama with Uhaul for about 10 months and paid over $1,000 dollars just before we left to have that there. I actually loved that Uhaul in Prattville, AL, but had a terrible experience with the Coast Hwy Oceanside Uhaul yesterday. When my husband and I rented a vehicle for our move yesterday morning, we were told when we picked it up at approximately 9am that we would have the option to do an after hours drop off. The gentleman who checked us in gave us instructions on how to do so with the app. We were doing a local move and needed to rent a smaller truck to move stuff from our storage unit to a 30' utility trailer. It was about an hour before closing time (5pm) and I called the coast highway Uhaul in Oceanside to let them know we were doing after-hours drop off (because I thought this was the right thing to do). The girl who I spoke with said she was the Supervisor and that the Manager was not allowing after-hours drop offs now. I went back and forth with her and told her that we were informed we could do this when we checked in and that was one reason we went with the truck that day. She would not budge even though this is what they told us just hours before. We live in deep San Diego and were not going to be able to return the truck in the morning because my husband has work. I actually asked to speak with the Manager and she told me that he had the day off. Up until my interactions with this Supervisor, everything seemed great here. My husband and I could not finish our move stuff and now have to make runs back and forth from Oceanside to San Diego during the week in our personal vehicles because one employee would not honor what they had promised. This is by far my worst experience with Uhaul. If an employee promises one thing, all employees need to be taught to honor what was communicated. That is what you learn in Customer Service and this location needs to learn to better service their customers.

I brought back the truck a day early and would recommend you ask for a refund for the days not used. I paid for three days but only needed it two. My fault initially for not asking. But, not was much provided, do your homework and ask the questions. Overall a very good experience.

Although part of the problem I had was my own fault (needed the truck longer than anticipated), when I went to return the truck, I was told point-blank that they couldn't take it at that location, and gave me very vague location details of where I could drop it off. The closer of the 2 options turned out to have moved locations (without the knowledge of the employee, which is annoying but not really his fault), and the new location closed at 4:00 and had no drop-box, drop-off instructions, or clear area of where to drop the truck.

Wiring guy couldnt figure out our problem. We got reimbursed for the labor but he totally butchered the wires of the part we bought from uhaul the day before, and told us that we needed to go to ford to have it fixed. Turned out that we could fix it in 15 mins, because the only problem was that the “brake” wire didn’t need an input due to the car’s combo brake and blinkers. Sounds ridiculous that a “wiring expert” can’t solve that.

I am a former Naval Officer and Annapolis graduate. At one point in my life I had a six figure salary and worked in the Intelligence community. Currently I’m on social security disability and have some chronic pain conditions which inhibit my ability to drive things like UHAUL trucks. I hope to return to the workforce in 2020 or sooner... I have a current limited income so my father volunteered to pay for the move, moving helpers, and truck. I am 41 years old and have moved over 35 times in my life journey and have never been treated by a customer service representative like I was treated yesterday in the “moving industry.” My contract states to return the vehicle to that location which I signed. It was a one-way contract. A little after 5:00pm I arrived and the customer service representative stated that they were not going to receive the truck and that I had to take it somewhere else and I told them my contract states that location. I then told this individual that I cannot drive because I’m on disability and also a combat disabled veteran. The employee then raised their voice and said oh well that they are disabled as well and that I still have my driver and I told the individual that my driver is off the clock now and I really didn’t have the financial means to continue paying the moving helpers. The employee then said oh well that they didn’t care and that if I left the truck there that they would charge me a fee for dumping the truck ad leaving it there. I wasn’t dumping the truck and leaving it there. I was following what the written contract which I signed stated. When I was inside complaining to the other employee this employee that was a former veteran as well came inside and told me they they were on social security disability as why are they working at UHAUL then? The employees actions and behaviors were psychotic and was not Post Trauma symptoms that the employee was claiming their justification for their actions and reactions. This is what causes the stigma in society regarding battle fatigue. This employees actions were psychotic and the employee needs to be helped. I contacted the company president and they said that their would be an investigation. While my initial reaction was that this employee needs to be terminated, the reality is this employee needs serious help. Is the employee using marijuana or did the employee change their medications? Mind altering medications can have very serious side effects and it’s not the individual but the medication. Marijuana is poison and causes a laundry list of mind altering problems. So after getting ahold of the company president and the stores general manager they said I could leave the truck there which was stated in my contract. But, it didn’t end there. As I was walking down the sidewalk in front of the Uhaul Building on Oceanside Blvd and got to the corner and was waiting to cross the street... The same employee now driving the Uhaul t

Rented an auto transport trailer to move across country due to military orders. Had to make changes to the the drop off location and the individual there couldn’t help us. They then proceeded to tell us to contact the drop off location to make the changes. Tried calling them with no one answering. Dropped off our trailer to the new location and now we can’t get a hold of anyone to get our money back! Spent $1300 for an auto trailer we only used for 4 days. Was told we would receive a phone call from the DM and that has yet to happen. Individuals that work here clearly don’t care and looks like we are out $700! Never again will we use this company nor this location.



Tracy was great. He was very professional. But, my truck I rented wasn't acting funny, & it had a maintenance light on and was worried of a breakdown as I was by myself. I was disappointed that they still charged Me full price on the truck I rented!

The crew was fine, it’s just that the lot only has one entrance and exit for all traffic. That combined with the number of parked and moving vehicles made it very challenging to hookup my car to the tow dolly and leave the lot when it was. A separate entrance and exit was help a great deal! Additionally, there is no customer parking on the lot. I was able to find street parking in front of the business next door, but I’m sure that’s not always the case. The layout of this location is the problem, not the staff.

Originally set up my uhaul truck order online and set this as the drop off locations for the truck, upon arrival the woman at the desk informed me that I needed to return the uhaul to its original location, something I had made clear in my original reservation that I was unable to do. I was subsequently charged extra for returning the uhaul to the location I originally had requested to return it to (because it was different from the location I had picked up the truck from)
