I am not certain what internal and/or personal issues the gentleman had, but when he came in around 9:30 am he was complete with a bad attitude. I was under the impression that I could just walk in and get a U-Haul trailer and not go through your website. I don't believe he is adept at or appreciative of taking walk-ins. I asked several questions and every time I had a question he would let loose a big sigh and pause as if to not wanting to go on with our transaction. One time he threw down his pen and stormed into the other room. I still do not know what I did to set him off. His computer was archaic and slow and when I changed my mind about wanting insurance, he gave a huge sigh and said, "Oh great! Now I have to start all over!". As this was an unexpected rental, I did not have my ball hitch and decided to buy one from him. He scoffed at me wanting to use my credit card to pay for the ball hitch even though it was labeled with U-Haul on the hitch. It was a business expense and I didn't have any petty cash, so I had to use the credit card. When at last the extremely painful (for both of us for sure!) paperwork was completed I asked him if he would possibly be able to install the ball hitch and connect the trailer. I was afraid at this point not knowing what would set him off and his possible reactions. He reluctantly went out and installed it as requested. When he finished with the installation, I asked him what I could have possibly done to make him treat me so terribly. He told me that I had taken more than my allotted 15 minutes. Really?!?! I was nothing but polite to this man from the start. I even initially attempted to analyze his behavior and pitied him, thinking perhaps he was just having a bad day. I don't think his bad days started just that day; they had been a freight train of bad days. We own our own business and customer service is paramount. He is not what I consider "normal" for a U-Haul representative. I have never had anything but excellent service until that day.
