The man I recieved the U-Haul from was difficult to deal with, not helpful, and co-sistently made errors with my order that required me to have to call in and have someone fix these complications over the phone. Having to deal with this S-Mart has honestly made me not want to use U-Haul ever again, nor will I recommend U-Haul to my friends or family as I can not be sure of these problems I have had are because of the S-Mart location screwing up or U-Haul.

The self serve website did not function as expected on an Google android Pixel 2, tried taking photos but the webite would constantly ask for another photo. tried to get the staff to take the photo of me and same thing no matter how much of a close up we did. the staff appeared to have ZERO knowledge of hoe the site functioned. in the end it took nearly 2 hours to get from walking in the door to getting the keys in my hand. needless to say more training in customer service is required at this location as they did not even want to hand out a number of a uhaul support person we could contact in regards to speeding up the process. after this experience of your so called self checkout I would be more willing to go directly to a location and fill out papers vs ever wanting to use the website again due to the lack luster customer experience. I will not suggest friends / family to use uhauls self service option let alone go to this location so anything. Half way through I was tempted to start recording a video to post to youtube but was not able to due to lack of free space on my device at the time. Due to the lack of available data usage availability on my phone (we dont have a lot of data usage per month in canada on mobile devices) the clerk at the store agreed to let me use their ipad but neglected to let me know its unlock password. so I got to the car opened up the case and it had a lock screen. so I had to walk back to the store in the pouring rain to get the password, then walk back to the car in the pouring rain to take the photos then back to the store to finish up then back to the car. Worst experience ever from a uhaul rental. would have been better if the car was closer to the location or you know if the location offered to let me borrow an umbrella so I didnt get soaking wet. I could go on and on about this horrible experience and I am still very tempted to make a youtube video about it.

Terrible experience. Between the phone calls, the rep and the app, wasted 3 hours of my time before I got the keys. Your app and booking website is not functioning the way it should be. Speak to your self pickup reps and ask them how many of these self pickup and self check in truck end up needing extensive rep support and end up bwing processed manually! The whole self-pickup thing seems like a joke as it wastes a lot more time for both the customer and your employees than a normal pickup. Very disapponted in the service! The worst part was when your phone rep was trying to blame the issues on me and the local rep, and she only stopped talking rubbish when the local rep said this is the 10th time he's having the same issue in a week! You've got a lot of work to do to make this work! I won't be a uhaul customer anymore, but good luck!

Your app is horrible and does not work. It took an extra hour to get the uhaul and the app did not work at all during self check out. Your workers are useless and don't know how to properly identify people.

The truck was left at the wrong address; it took me almost 20min to unlock the car due to the verification process; the dolly required at the reservation was not in the car, and with no alternative solution, making me spend much more time with my move than expected; the system didn't work well when I took the car back and it took another 25min just to register the devolution in the store. I've been using car sharing systems for years and my impression is that this partnership with neighborhood dealers is not ready. Maybe you should chack with companies like Modo to understand the meaning of a good self-service. I definitely will never recommend it to anyone, and if I had to use U-Haul again, I would go to a U-Haul store.

The location was fine BUT U-Haul's system was down the first time we tried to rent so we had to make changes to our move - VERY inconvenient. Secondly - when we returned the vehicle and tried to close, we kept getting a message saying the cards - all three - were denied. This is absolutely ridiculous. We turned in the keys and left. I will not recommend or use U-Haul's automatic services app again.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The only issue I had with my rental experience is your main system went down and therefore the pos was not working. So staff told me they could not rent to me until system came back up, or I had to rebook. How can somebody rebook on the day they plan to move? Luckily the staff member at location Jenny was amazing and called me back right away as soon as system cam back up so I did jot rent last second from someplace else. Something smaller and something I did not want to use. Truck was everything I expected and more. Although the moving took longer than I hoped the 10 ft truck really made the difference over a smaller cargo van.

The picture shown in the self pick up app doesn’t exactly match with the truck. The reference number shown in the app was not written on the truck to identify. I was just trying the key given for multiple vans parked at same location.

Awful system to “self pick up” Lost 30 mins of my booking due to the ridiculous process. Have to wait for someone to “live” approve your headshot & drivers license. The first two people denied the booking without explanation and the third time i was asked for two “friends or family” phone numbers and then was approved. When returning there was no option when logging into my account to return the truck! I had to go into the pick up location and the poor convenience store girl had to figure out how to self return through the shops login. SO SO BAD and such a waste of time and data. I will never use U Haul again and will not recommend to anyone.

Easy to get to via skytrain. Would recommend providing a bit more information for people to know which roads and streets the truck can be dropped off at. Greatly appreciated the staff at the store calling in advance to make sure we understood the self check in process.

Reserving the truck online was easy however picking it up was a horrible experience. We booked the truck for 0800 and I received a confirmation email to pick the truck up at 0800 and the location provided. When I arrived, the truck was NOT reserved for me and I did not get the truck until 0915. I spent a hour and fifteen minutes trying to figure things out. I had the elevator booked for move out at 0800-1100. I did not get back to the condo until 1000, leaving me with only an hour to move out. It was a horrible experience and I would not recommend it to anymore. Would rather book a moving company

I had a problem with the bill. Despite the reservation was $19.95 plus $0.59 per kilometer plus taxes you tried to charge me $89.00 per day. I took this Van with 115 km on the odometer and I returned back with 199 km. So, it should be $69.51 plus taxes. I am still waiting for this confirmation

Overall a positive experience other than the van pictured that I went to look for did not look anything like the van when I finally found it. I had to go back to Smart to ensure it was the van I was to pick up. Kindly ensure that the vehicles customers are to pick up are described accurately in your online contract pictures. The van for me said "Truck Share 24/7" No indication that it was U-Haul . Also, there were no numbers on the vehicle.

Better scheduling system... Never been so stuffed around and frustrated while trying to book and access a rental vehicle. Justin at the S mart Burnaby location was an incredible help while Uhaul scheduling kept getting messy!

The app did not work on samsung. It took me an hour to pick up the truck. And when I returned an hour than what I have put in as a return time at the time of reservation, they charged me double. They did not communicated with me ahead of time "if I return later than the return time specified" I would be charged double. My understanding of the rental period was for the whole day. I just put in the return time as an estimate and thought it is just a formality entry in the form. Did not think it was something I would be held against it. When objected to the extra charge, they told me there was nothing they can do about it. So I high jacked the key. They gave a customer service number to call. I called the number couple of times and each time waited for a ridiculous amount of time to speak someone. When finally got to a person, the first one just hang up on me after I barely could say my name. The second time was a very bad connection, we could not hear each other and she just hang up on me too. So I just told the S Mart people that I would be hanging on to the keys until we sorted out. Finally they had someone call me from Uhaul the next day and the person aggreed to wave the extra charges if I returned the keys. The extra charges are waived and I returned the keys. Very bad service both the Uhaul and S Mart. The app only works on iphone. And the customer service over the phone is nothing but a joke. Save yoursef time and do not call them.

Location had a very young inexperienced employee working with no knowledge of the uhaul service. Had to wait almost an hour for our vehicle putting me behind schedule for my move. Then the online check in did not work so it took a long time to sort it out. There were three employees at this time and it still took about half an hour to get it sorted with very poor customer service offered. When we asked how long it would take none of them offered a reply. One of them did eventually sort it out. May have been smoother if uhaul online service was working properly. Will not book through this location again.

As a first time user, it was a terrible experience. it was stressful, took a full hour to get approved before i could take off. The online service + live approval had trouble getting my DL info. I entered it twice on the computer, gave it verbally to the rep and typed my DL which they still had trouble with. I had to retake photos 3 times. The truck was parked at the opposite end of the block far away from key pickup, i was running back and forth just to get everything sorted out. When i returned the truck, unaware of the returning procedure, i was running back and forth trying to complete the return procedure. I was incredibly frustrated at this point. The cashier who gave me the keys were not knowledgeable on the procedure, they only gave me a piece of paper with instructuons on it. Nothing was clear. I will never do this again.

The location and the people working there are great. In fact they're the ones who made my experience pleasant and helping me thriugh some technical issues. The online self check in/ check out from U Haul is what ABSOLUTELY SUCKED. Since this is a self service centre, you gotta do everything online..and BOY! Did I have a horrible experience. When you check in, you provide a picture of your driver licence and yourself. Post this... I was waiting for OVER 40 minutes ..and eventually it was the lady at the storr that bypassed the process and made sure I got what I needed. After this, when I was late returning the truck, by 20 minutes, U Haul had the audacitu to overcharge me. Again, the same lady i the store was able to rectify this. I recomend this metrotown location, but boy, do I wish it was not U haul. Unfortunately, they do have an unofficial monopoly on truck rentals, so we're stuck with it
