We were sent to this location because the Bayshore location in Port St Lucie dropped the ball and didn't have our truck ready for after hours pickup, which I had confirmed multiple times, including in person the day before. We were using the mobile app early in the morning before daylight, so we could load and get under way. The Fort Pierce location did not have any lights on at all. This made it very difficult to locate the truck, access the keys, and inspect the truck, and there were people sleeping on the ground around the location. The mobile app did not provide the code to access the keys for the truck, so we called the 800 number, who also confirmed that the app did not provide the code. The manager of the location called us within a few minutes and gave us the code. We were ultimately able to open the code lock in the dark between the multiple trucks parked there and access the key. It felt very unsafe. Since it was still dark outside, it was nearly impossible to assess the condition of the truck. Later, when it became light outside, were able to see that the truck had not been cleaned. It had parts of something from the previous user still in the cargo area, as well as several pink, broken off press on nails. The fold down armrest had spilled cola in and around the drink holders, and on the armrest. We were now way behind schedule, and our loading help had been arranged to start early. This was only the beginning of our nightmare U-haul experience that included headlights so dim that we weren't sure they were even on, multiple check engine lights, replacement of all 6 tires on the truck - one of them twice, while we waited, resulting in a lost day, and a shaking truck that pulled to the right for 2100 miles and ultimately leaked when it rained during our trip and ruined several expensive pieces of wood furniture, and soaked other items.
