You should not reserve a 4 X 8 trailer for me and then tell me at pick-up that I have a 5 X 8 because the smaller trailers are reserved only for one-way rentals. I wanted the smallest covered trailer available for this particular job.

I agreed to rent the trailer over the phone from corporate. We wanted to get it about 4 pm, take some furniture to our cottage and return it the next afternoon (within 24 hrs). When I went to get the trailer I was informed that I needed a wiring adapter (the round type) so i had call my wife and wait for her to bring the adapter. I should have have been told that your equipment only has the straight "4 prong" type of wiring harness. Also the night we were going to drive the trailer to northern Michigan the weather got bad so we decided to get the insurance that we declined earlier. I called "U haul" to get it and was told I couldn't get it over the phone because they had to inspect it beforehand. I was told on the phone to just go in the next morning (since they were closed) and I could get the insurance. OK, that made sense to me in case in case someone had already damaged the trailer. But we had to wait to the next morning when the distributor was open. There I was informed that I couldn't get insurance unless I signed a new contract and paid for another day. I didn't want to waste an extra 30 dollars so we went without insurance. It was a little annoyed because it put us behind for no reason. We didn't have any problems on our trip and returned barely returned in time. The people that I dealt with at the distributor (Waverly Road in Lansing, Mi) we're friendly and professional. But there was definitely some miscommunication between the phone (corporate) and the distributor.

Your reservation system is very confusing! Your website lists each location separately but when you finish with your reservation they tell you they will contact you with you reservation location details the day before your rental?!! Seriously??/!!! I reserve at a particular location because it's the closest (less mileage) to where I want to go! Fortunately, our reservation pick-up ended up being at the location we had reserved - we would have been very upset if we would have had to pay more for mileage because you didn't have your act together!

1. Make sure the trailer is clean inside. The floor in the one I rented was covered in dried mud and leaves. 2. Make sure all lights are working on the trailer. Upper left taillight and upper left rear marker lights were out.

Clean the windshield and fix the ignition key. I had difficulty pushing the key into the ignition far enough to start the truck. It would be nice to start with a full tank of gas like renting a car and ask the customer to return the truck with a full tank.

I was very impressed with the professionalism of the staff at this location.

After driving for about 50 miles, the car straps of my dolly hookup, which was done by the personal at this site, came loose and the car I was towing almost fell off the dolly. Luckily we noticed and stopped in time. After looking more closely at the equipment, we realized that one of the car wheels had not been properly strapped down, per the "Attention" sticker on the equipment. We fixed the straps and didn't have a problem for the remaining 200 miles.
