When you text the client saying your equipment is ready for picking up, please keep you word. I was planned to pick up a 15 foot truck from Concord, CA. I got shocked when I was told later that “ we don’t have equipment available” nearest branch is 35 mins away !!!!

Just make sure the vehicle has gas in it before you rent it. Having to stop for gas when you have limited time, is not ideal.

The local rental center called twice to make sure it was not a mistake that I rented 2 15 foot moving trucks. Then the local center called a 3rd time, a day before pickup. They told me another customer called to extend their rental and the national center approved it. I did not have a 2nd truck I reserved. I had a lot of people depending on me. I was on a project to deliver 1,000 turkeys and dry goods boxes to lower income families. The 2 trucks were needed to deliver 180 meals each.

This experience was a total nightmare!! And it had nothing to do with the 3 locations we visited. It was all due to the reservations!! I live in Sacramento and had to pick up a few things in San Jose so I reserved a trailer for the Senter Rd. Location in San Jose. Then I was sent an email saying that my trailer was ready in Santa Clara, CA which would have added 2-3 hours more to my already 6 hour trip. Also no one called me to confirm, I’m just glad that I check my emails regularly. So I called back and was told that there where no available trailers anywhere in my route or close to it. After being on the phone for 35 mins I was told that they found one in Hayward, CA. At this point I accepted it and we confirmed the reservation and I received an email and a text telling me that it was confirmed and ready for me to pick it up. At this time I was already an hour and a half behind schedule. I decided to call the store directly and make sure they had the trailer. I confirmed with the man that was talking to me that I was speaking to someone in the store and was told that everything was set up for us. We get to the Hayward store and wait in line for another 30 minutes at which point we were told that they did not have the trailer there and never had it. At this point we had waisted 2 hours of our schedule and we had nothing, and we had driven 2 hours away from home. At this point I called the customer service number again and was put on hold by a rep for 20 mins and transferred without warning fortunately I finally got someone that could help. That person help us get into a 10 foot truck instead and reserved it for us in the Livermore CA location again we received an email and text with the confirmation. You would have thought that the nightmare ended there but nope. On our way there we received a call from the Dublin CA store telling us that we were late for our pick up. When we never had a reservation or confirmation with them. At the Livermore store we got our truck and we thought we were done but the truck’s mileage was incorrect. It was off by 4000 miles. Yes I did say FOUR THOUSAND MILES. Well the rep said she would just note it and and initial it on our receipt. At this point we were 3.5 hours behind schedule. We took the truck and ofcourse when we dropped it off what should have been an easy and fast transaction turned into a 30 min ordeal. I don’t think I will ever use U-haul again.

Tyler at the Livermore U-Haul was excellent. He helped me choose the right vehicle even though the one I was originally going to get was more expensive. He talked with me about what I needed the vehicle for, and helped me choose the right one. Great service and a very reasonable price. Thanks.

I had a reservation at First St for a larger trailer. Nobody was there at 3pm when I went to pick up my resveration - spoke to a UHaul agent the night prior to confirm and she sent a text confirming me at 3:45. The gas station attendant said the UHaul person never showed up that day. I could not retrieve my trailer or reservation and had to settle for a smaller version down the street which made my move that much more difficult.

There were no employees inside when I arrived. Took about 5 mins before someone came in. One employee kept cursing. I wish there was a discount when you have to drive long distances. I won’t use u-haul in the future as the price per mileage is unreasonable.

My only disappointment was that I had set my pick-up location as Concord, and was surprised when I was told to go to Vallejo. Maybe I didn't read something that told me the pick-up location could change, but I would have appreciated knowing that I would be traveling farther to get the truck...
