Despite reservation well in advance, the equipment was not ready, and the lights on the tow dolly were non functioning. Alas, the single worker on staff seemed to know very little about maintenance, yet my fiancé, who has been an over the road truck driver for 30 years, suggested a check of the fuse. The response from the staffer was “naw” instead choosing to check several different alternative plug in cords. Alas, in the meantime, he was attempting to service other parties, making us wait, despite being the first parties to arrive in the morning. Finally after checking and concluding it was indeed a blown fuse, the facility did not have any spare fuses. After we had wasted more than an hour, the staffer started talking about a refund, when in reality was not an acceptable alternative. I insisted that I was moving states and needed a truck, not my money back. Eventually, my fiancé and I drove to the nearest auto parts store, paid for fuses ourselves went back to the facility, where the tow dolly had been unhooked (why, who knows, to keep us there even longer) and the extras I had paid for were not yet loaded even though the employee knew we were going to buy fuses and would be right back. As the employee was still the only employee and he was servicing someone else, my fiancé immediately just re-hooked the trailer and inserted the new fuse, which of course fixed the issue. At this point it was going on a two hour ordeal and it was very important for us to be the first people serviced so we could load the entire household and be done before the heat of the day. The employee was gracious the entire time, however, ill equipped to handle the situation appropriately. He had to call the main number multiple times for assistance and then for some reason, kept us there for another 20 minutes, trying to get a discount approved for our wait. This was in poor judgment as anyone could tell our sense of urgency was primary. I finally asked what the discount would be and when told $45, I immediately insisted we just sign and leave. If I can afford a $700 charge for my needs, a $45 discount is not motivation enough to continue to waste my precious time. I have no hard feelings for the gentleman who attempted to help us, and he was kind during the whole ordeal, despite our frustrations. However, preparing the equipment in advance would’ve highlighted the fuse issue and provided an opportunity for repair before our arrival. It is for this reason alone and wasting two hours of my day because of this oversight, I can only give one star.
