Terrible U-Haul Experience – Reservation #80907900 U-Haul needs to do a better job making sure customers receive all necessary access codes and instructions before or at the time of pickup. Customers should not have to stand outside in 101-degree heat, repeatedly contact customer service, and wait for multiple representatives just to get access to the equipment they already rented. Very disappointing experience. I would seriously reconsider using U-Haul again unless they address this issue. I am extremely disappointed with my recent U-Haul rental experience. What should have been a simple 19-hour truck rental turned into a stressful and frustrating situation that wasted valuable time. The biggest issue was the lock on the back of the 10' truck. We were not provided with the code needed to open the back of the truck, and the code was not included anywhere in the paperwork or information provided to us. We contacted U-Haul customer service for assistance. Instead of getting a quick solution, we were transferred between customer service representatives and spent a significant amount of time trying to get someone to locate a code that actually worked. One representative initially told us she would transfer us to the appropriate department. We eventually had to speak with two different customer service representatives before a working code was finally located. This was especially frustrating because it was approximately 101°F outside. We were standing outside trying to access the back of the truck in extreme heat, wasting time on something that should have been handled before the rental began. The fact that the correct code was apparently available to U-Haul but wasn't provided to us with the rental information is unacceptable. We rented the truck expecting to be able to use it immediately, not spend a significant portion of our rental time troubleshooting a lock. The customer service representatives eventually helped, but the process was unnecessarily difficult and caused lost time, frustration, stress, and a very poor rental experience.
