The drop off was easy, but it wasn’t put in the system we had dropped it off until after I had to call and let them know it had been there for a week. But once that happened they took care of it. Thank you U-Haul
Gary BThe location is very remote, approximately 10-miles from the closest town and 7-miles from the closest, functioning gas station. There's absolutely no Verizon cell phone service within this facility and barely any service within a 10-ft radius of the parking lot. There's no functioning gas pump at this U-Haul location. This location has no blankets or furniture dolly's (even though the U-Haul App allows customers to add these items to their on-line order). This affects customers in that I had to drive an additional 14-miles to fill-up with gas. Every mile costs $1.09, which cost me an additional $15 just to fuel-up before turning-in the moving truck. I also had to drive 6-miles RT to pick-up blankets at another location, which is an additional $7 in mileage. The affects of having no cell phone service required me to run back-and-forth in the parking lot, for 30-minutes, on a cold day, to complete the vehicle check-in. All of that being stated, the people at the U-Haul offices were super friendly. They also got me a credit for the blankets, so I think there was a wash on the additional mileage costs. I really don't like being double-charged for the daily rental and mileage fee, as well as the cost of fuel. The government mileage fee is $0.70/mile, which includes oil, gas, and maintenance. Moving trucks get about 7-miles/gallon. So for a 2-day, 200-mile trip, the cost is as follows: RENTAL: $120 x 2-days = $240 MILEAGE: $1.09 x 200 = $218 SAFE MOVE: $45 FEES: $6 TOTAL INCL. TAXES (12%): $570 FUEL: 200-mi @ 7-mi/GAL x $2.75/GAL = $79 GRAND TOTAL: $649 Using an accurate mileage fee that excludes the cost of fuel should look like this: RENTAL: $120 x 2-days = $240 MILEAGE: [$0.70 - $0.39] x 200 = $62 SAFE MOVE: $45 FEES: $6 TOTAL INCL. TAXES (12%): $395 FUEL: 200-mi @ 7-mi/GAL x $2.75/GAL = $79 GRAND TOTAL: $474 By my calculations, the compounded tax on the double charge is costing customers an additional $175. If you want to change additional fees for rentals, then be transparent. Increase your rates to $198/day and reduce the fuel charge to to $0.31/mile.
