This place was fine but the U-haul system is broken. I reserved a trailer on Monday, and received confirmation for Sunday P/U. As of Sat. evening I did not get any instructions on where to get my trailer. I called your national number and they said there was no trailer available, so why did I not get an e-mail noting this? Sunday AM I called again and after a long hold time, they said that there would be one that PM in Newark, N J. This is about 30 miles from my home, and too far away IMO. If there is no equipment available, your system should tell me that in advance instead of telling me nothing the day before

The location and equipment is very good, but I waited for 45 minutes since I get there till leave the facility with the truck. 15 minutes, inside the office and nobody show up, Than another 20 minutes spending with the paperwork.(20 minutes. Is too much) Another 10 minutes to receive the truck. I rented it for 24 hours and started 8:50 AM. I said that would be back aroun 6:00PM Around 11:00 AM,(the same day), i started receiving text messages from Uhall, saying that is supposed return the truck 11:30AM (3 messages). Obviously I ignored. To drop off, was much better, The employee that receiving the trucks, was very polite and fast, giving me instructions how to drop off. Only 1 person in the counter to rent the truck to me. The employee is very busy, using the device of U-hall to proceed the rent, + computer + smart watch (taking his attention) and his cell phone. Place more employees in the morning and ending the day, because, it's too busy for only 1 person. To be honest, I will thinking twice before go back there to rent another truck, because I wasted too much time.

Una honrada manager, empleados atentos con el cliente, ya que no fueron amables de entregarme el truck indicandome todas las fallas y ventajas. Porque todo el servicio fue falso y me hecho la culpa de un choque que no fue ocasionado por mi persona, este caso voy a llevarle a las autoridades, porque no tiene porque cobrarme $480,00 dls abusando de que tiene mi informacion, ella no fue capas de enseñarme el video de las camaras.

I rented a trailer to take another one of my cars to Maryland and back for the weekend. I thought there was a problem with the wiring on my truck that wouldnt allow the left blinker/brake light operate. Turns out that the trailer lights on the left side were not operating correctly. Maybe a bad bulb or something. Lights would turn on as drl’s at night but brake/blinker lights were inoperable. UHAUL definitely needs to regularly check their equipment and repair before sending it out again for someone else to use. I spent almost $250 for a trailer and it wasn’t properly maintained. I’m not very satisfied..

I initially booked my UHAUL truck over two weeks prior to my move date for a 10:30am pick up. I receive a call the day before my pick up notifying me that my truck will be ready at 12:30pm on the same day. When I arrive at this location for my new pick-up time, I am not treated well by the two employees behind the counter. One seemed to be working intentionally slowly and the other skipped over me to help other customers in line after me. When I finally got help, I was told the truck wasn’t there. The previous renters needed it until 3:30, despite my guarantee that I would have it at 12:30. Before I left, I heard one of the two employees look at the office phone and say, “Who’s been waiting on hold for 40 minutes?” Before finally answering that person’s call. Later, when I showed up at 3:30, the truck was still not there. They then told me 4:30. It was then that I met one of the employees, Alfredo, who offered to call me when the truck arrived. At this point, I’m 6 hours behind schedule with six friends waiting around my home getting ever-more annoyed. Alfredo gives me a call at 4:30 - the truck is finally there. I race over, only to find the previous renters unloading the truck for the next hour and a half. I don’t get the truck in my handS until 6pm. This was a humiliating experience for me and I will use Penske or Budget going forward. I spoke with the regional president who offered me half my money back - it is certainly a nice gesture but honestly, being 8 hours behind schedule due to poor customer management (and even worse previous renters), I would’ve liked to see a full refund. I still had to cover my gas usage. It was so late that I had to park the truck at a friends house and pick up moving the next morning - so I had to pay for additional miles as well. That’s an additional $50 I had to spend, so really I only got $50 back from this entire experience. There’s even more to this story involving UHAUL corporate, but that’s not pertinent to the Newark branch directly. I have worked many customer facing jobs in my life and it takes a lot for me to write a review like this. But I was so poorly treated and my time was so blatantly abused I feel compelled to share this story. Please do not put any of your other customers through this kind of mess and humiliation again. I would like to make mention of Alfredo though. He was fantastic. He was the only employee who understood fully how completely fucked this entire situation was - and did everything he could to help remedy it. Even going so far as to help the previous renters unpack their truck to speed up the process. He deserves recognition for his assistance in this mess - certainly manager material. UHAUL’s Newark Branch and UHAUL corporate could learn a thing or two from Alfredo.

what I do agree that the place is clean, the staff failed to provide with everything requested. I paid for a dolly and did not get it. Wont even bother to claim 10 dollars. Good thing I am never moving again so I wont need these service anymore.
