Where to start? I made a reservation for a van, and my emailed receipt stated a specific location near me. That location was chosen for its proximity to me. When I arrived there at the specified rental time, I was informed that there was no van there, nor did they have any records of my reservation. Based on my reservation number, they were able to determine that U-Haul UNILATERALLY moved my reservation to the location on 23rd St. in Richmond. U-Haul never bothered to contact me about this change of venue. In picking up the van, the one and only clerk on duty felt harassed because she was left alone by her supervisor to attend to customers. She was ill-trained, and felt compelled to speak openly and critically about her situation. Not very professional. The van, while clean on the exterior, had some kind of aerosolized liquid which had been sprayed onto the driver's side step well. This liquid was slick and made it very difficult to keep my foot on the brake in stopping or slowing situations. And then there were the hidden, undisclosed charges. Undisclosed until time of final payment. Will I use U-Haul again in the future? Unlikely. This was a terrible, highly unprofessional, and wholly incompetent transaction. There are other vendors who can do a much better job.

My experience started out good at the Concord, California U-Haul and went bad after the car tow did not show up @ the arranged time of 1pm. We had to drive to the Richmond, Ca location to retrieve the car Tow, we had to pay a toll of $20.00. Outside of that, we were on our way after picking up the Tow bar a little delayed.

No problems what-so-ever, it was ready early, pick up and drop off were smooth and easy. My only negative comment is (as always with U-haul), the ad on the side of the truck says $20, yet I never have rented one and had it cost much less than $100. Lots of fine print additional charges.

The online ordering system charged me for items that were not found, nor accessible at either location. I will call on Tuesday to cancel the accessories order that was not found on either computer. I received none of the accessories that I paid for...

Floor of the van was covered in some brown oil substance which ended up all over the items I was moving. Also disorganization in the office; I dropped van off at 6:48am and since the office was closed, I dropped the key in the slot. Yet I was still called 11:53am inquiring about the van.

I was at first frustrated because getting ahold of assistance before pick up is a pain.. customer service is very limited in what they can do and they are often rude. I was hoping to pick up at a location closer to my town and on my side of a toll bridge but they could not make that happen. I was unable to connect with the Richmond location via the phone, which was very frustrating. Luckily, one of the guys helped me out the day of pick up at the location.

My only real complaint was that there was one person trying to take care of the multiple people in line when I picked up the truck on Friday. Other than that, the truck was clean, the employees were pleasant, and the instructions were easy to follow. Whenever I have to rent a truck, I prefer the Uhaul on 23rd.

There was a lock on the door to the storage area on the truck but no key with the ignition key. When I called the local number, I got someone who simply referred me to road service with a list of menu options. So I had to return to the office and get the key and was still charged for miles wasted with no compensation for my time lost.

This is by far the worst moving experience I have ever had. I reserved my 26 ft 2 weeks in advance, and @ 4:47 pm on the night before my scheduled pickup, the emailed read " We are unable to provide you with a 26 ft truck would a 20 ft be OK! I said no and then had to find a 26 ft truck, then go and pick it up. Lousy service, lousy people in the fact NO one @ U-Haul gives a Damn about customer service. Just pay the charges and See Ya! I have and will continue to down grade your company to anyone thinking of using U-Haul for their next move.
