Pickup location was changed from what I initially selected. This location was not open at 9am, as stated on Uhaul's website as well as on the door of the business. I left and went to my original reservation location to see if they had anything in stock and we were turned away. I went back to Compass Self Storage, and although they were now open, no one was at the front. We waited almost 10 minutes for someone to appear at the desk. There was no apology for opening late or not being available at the front. When I received my email after returning the truck to indicate that the reservation was complete, I learned that I was charged an additional $11.00 for mileage overage. For one, I feel this should be waived because we were hindered by almost an hour during the pickup. For two, Uhaul has a habit of only giving enough mileage to get from the start location to the end location...it does not account for the extra mileage it takes to drive the truck to it's dropoff location. If Uhaul truly wants to improve its service, it would include a buffer of miles on every rental as well as stress the importance of facilities to open on time when there is a rental scheduled first thing in the morning.
