If there was an option for zero stars, this would be the time for that. My advice for improvements: Don’t be so rude to the customers and make sure they get the add ons that they ask for. After filling out the forms and taking all the photos, a man (I’m assuming the manager or owner at that location, but he didn’t give me a name) pulled in with a burger in his hand and asked me to verify my name. After telling him that he was correct about my name, he told me that I couldn’t take the truck because I wasn’t compliant. I actually thought that he was joking with me, but he persisted. He said that he had already spoken to the manager at another location and I could go there to get a truck. I’m assuming it was in response to me getting there at 11:40 am, since I reserved the truck for mobile check in at 11 am. The check-in instructions said to arrive within an hour of the reservation. I was about to head to this other location until my daughter-in-law reminded me that we had chosen mobile check in and that a charge had already been placed on my bank account. He apparently didn’t know that I’d chosen mobile check In and was then willing to let me take the truck. He asked if I would be bringing it back to that location, telling me that if I was dropping it off at another location, I’d have to get a different truck because, “Only certain trucks can be dropped off at other locations and U-Haul is strict on that.” The moving blankets that I had requested were nowhere to be found and the furniture dolly that I had paid extra for wasn’t in the truck. Because of how rude the man was, I really didn’t want to disturb him further by telling them that they’d neglected to provide the extra items. This was already a difficult day for me because I was getting my belongings from my estranged husband’s house. That being said, it’s been an act of congress to get my abusive, soon to be ex husband to agree to a time to get my belongings. This morning was no different. He had refused to let me get them earlier in the morning after agreeing the night before, which is when I reserved the rental. As much as I hate to admit that I was having an emotional breakdown, the rudeness at this rental location made it even worse. The man said that someone couldn’t be there all the time, so I assume I had disrupted his lunch with my patronage of his establishment. If my daughter-in-law had not been there, I would’ve probably just went home and not gotten my things. I cried when I left. I felt very uncomfortable returning to the location to bring the truck back, but thankfully, my adult son was with me and the rude man was distracted working on a car, so he didn’t acknowledge that we’d brought the truck back. My advice to improve for other customers is: hire someone different. If you don’t know what’s going on, don’t pretend to, and definitely don’t be a jerk to your customers. I would not recommend renting from that location to anyone!! If this is the standard for U-Haul, I’ll choose a different company for any of my future moving needs.
