I requested a mobile pickup. Yet, still had to talk with the gas station attendant who had zero clue how to access the keys for the truck. He also was the sole worker there so after I asked for his help, he couldn’t do anything until he pumped gas for the next 6 cars that arrived. The whole process to just get the keys took over half an hour. The cargo of the U-Haul was filled with loose nails left by the previous renter , that I picked up by hand.

Absolutely unacceptable experience. This is not an energy company, it is a dirty gas station parking lot in the middle of nowhere. I was supposed to use the mobile pickup option, but absolutely nothing was prepared. There was no indication that this location had any association with U-Haul aside from the trucks poorly placed by the side of the building. I was stared at by a random man who eventually walked up and mumbled unintelligible commands at me. This person was apparently an employee of “Iconic Energy LLC”, which is just a fake company the guy was running via WhatsApp on his phone. Despite having gotten a call the night before by an official U-Haul representative to confirm my reservation, the person in this gas station parking lot I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about. He instead shoved a phone with a WhatsApp speaker call towards me, at which point I had to again explain that I was here to pick up a truck to yet another person who could not communicate with me in any intelligible manner. After 30 minutes in the phone with U-Haul customer support, I finally received the truck I had reserved, which had been sitting in front of us the entire time. There was also only a quarter tank of gas in the vehicle when I finally got it. The person on U-Haul support was very helpful and did his job well. The district manager who was supposed to call me to discuss their complete failure to maintain any level of quality control amongst their facilities (a call I am still yet to receive) was completely unhelpful and did their job poorly. I would never recommend the use of U-haul to any person. Terrible experience all around.
