This is a criticism of U-Haul central offices. BEWARE EVEN IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE MADE A BOOKING, UHAUL CAN AND DOES CHANGE IT AT WILL. This is not the fault of franchisees or the U-Haul stores it is poor and deceptive business practice on the part of Uhaul. Their confirmation email says in bold letters: "Your Order is Confirmed." Then below in smaller letters: "A U-Haul representative will contact you to schedule you at the most convenient agreed upon location with available equipment." What is the point of making a booking for a specific location and specific equipment if they won't commit to either? Last year I booked a truck and trailer together and they assigned equipment to me that was 50 miles apart and were unwilling to make a concession on time or cost of the extra driving and gas. So Uhaul's equipment is fine and the staff are friendly and capable. But if you are counting on a reservation for a specific day/time and specific equipment. Go elsewhere, Uhaul cannot be counted on.

Actually I felt that the service I had was great. The gentleman answered all my questions and was very friendly. I needed a few things and he was very accommodating. The only thing I would suggest is for a restroom be available. I didn't need one, this time, but I read the sign that said no public restroom. I would use this location again without thinking twice and I would suggest it to anyone I know.

when you return truck make sure to take picture of mileage and gas gauge, they charged me $8.00 extra claiming I didn't return the truck with a full tank, when I told them I did and I had the proof in pictures they immediately credited my account.....they credited $3.00 instead of the $8.00 but I left it at that to not deal with them anymore.....I'll just take the $5.00 lost......I take pictures all the time so make sure you do the same.

I was upset when my pickup location was changed from what I originally scheduled. It does not seem fair that U-Haul should place the burden of its scheduling mishaps and shortcomings on its customers (asking me to find a way to transport myself 15 miles away from my original location). But, irrespective of U-Haul's frustrating way of organizing truck pickups (why doesn't the company take care of transporting trucks to locations of scheduled pick-up?) the location of pickup was well-managed and well-organized.

I made my original reservation over the phone. It was supposed to be made for 8 am on July 31st for a 17' truck. I later looked at the reservation to learn it had been made for 8 pm. Okay, fine. While not ideal, we could work around that. I got a call on July 24th saying that the truck we had reserved had broken down and the very best they could do for us was a 15' truck picked up at a farther away location at 9 am on August 1st. This was far less than ideal, however we were committed to Uhaul at this point and couldn't change so we made it work. We got a call the evening of the 31st saying that they had actually booked the truck we were supposed to get until noon and we couldn't pick it up until then. Fortunately we were able to make this work, but it wasn't at all what we wanted and we won't be using Uhaul again for this reason. All the people we talked to were nice enough and as helpful as they could be but overall our experience with Uhaul as a company was very poor. Furthermore, the FAQ states that $50 will be given when your reservation has been guaranteed. I have emails with proof that my reservation was guaranteed at both points and am only being issued $50 when it should be $100 total "because there was an error made on the first reservation on the companies end and there is nothing they can do about it".
