The rental process was quite spectacular, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The equipment was very good. HOWEVER, the return and subsequent effort to communicate with and resolve the issue with U-HAUL was absolutely HORRIBLE. The truck was rented until noon the following day. The truck was returned by 11:30 that same evening, by someone else that failed to return the gas tank to 1/4 full as I had directed them to do. I personally stopped at the location by noon in order to ensure everything had been done, including refilling the tank. I learned then that the truck had been returned with 1/8 tank. I stated that I would take it over (across the road to the gas station) and fill it up. I was told the truck was gone already, that the person who had reserved it that day had shown up early and taken it. I was told that they filled it back to 1/4 tank, that it took 5-1/2 gallons and that I was charged not only for the gas but also a $30 service fee. I was told by the company that it was not their problem, that once they put in into the computer that it was a U-HAUL issue. I called the customer service number and spoke with a female. The phone connection was horrible. I could hardly hear what she was saying. I had to ask at least 3 times what her name was because of the poor connection, which was not my phone. She ultimately passed along the complaint to the "Area Field Manager" and said she would have him return a call in 2 business days. She was not sure of his name, but after looking it up for a couple of minutes she learned it was someone called Billy Ray. Billy Ray called me back shortly thereafter and said he would not return any money. He offered a gift certificate toward my next U Haul rental. I told him to forget it, that I would not be using U Haul again. There is no excuse for this in my opinion. I went above and beyond to ensure things were done right by the noon return time that I had contracted for. The excuse provided by U-Haul, that the contract is for "up to 24 hours but ends upon return of the vehicle". I get that part, but to refuse to return the $30 "service fee" for driving the vehicle across the street for 1/8 tank of gas is absurd. Please feel free to share this review with any and all potential U-Haul customers so they are at the very least made aware of the return policy, let alone of the unwillingness of U-Haul to work with it's customers. The parking lot was covered in two inches of ice all over. We slipped many times trying to walk around. My husband actually fell while trying to attach the trailer to our truck and the tongue of the trailer landed on his legs. We knew the UHaul we were picking up from was closed on Sundays but it was clear that the parking lot had been coated in ice for days and no one had made any attempt to salt it or put sand down. Totally unacceptable.

Patrick and Michael Barrett have done an excellent job over the years of going out of their way to provide us with top quality, very reliable trucks from U-Haul for our delivery needs. These guys are far better than any other personnel at any other dealer we have ever worked with!

Can't say enough about them. Very helpful.More comfortable than previous trucks. We have driven several. We have to be on top as to how much we have used U-Hall in the past 6 years. Alert other customers!!!!! We got a call when we were on our way. Person said that the charge did not go through and wanted our credit card number to charge us. My wife handled it superbly and they never called back. When we delivered it to the location we did indeed have it paid for. This was a scam.

The Uhaul trailer was not clean. It had previously been used to haul a gas grill and had grease and char coaled drippings all over it. I had to pressure wash it with soap prior to use. My 26' moving which had been confirmed was not available. They just said "sorry". I was not notified in advance that the pick up location had been changed. Barrett's Auction said that UHaul is a pain in the butt and if they had a chance, would drop UHaul altogether. Awful!

My equipment was not at the location. I had to take a bigger trailer that I did not need. Ended up costing me more money in fuel. Very disappointed.

The folks at Barrett's were great and in fact they saved U-Haul's bacon from the fire. I had reserved a 4x7 open trailer AND was told to go to Barrett's to get it by an email from U-Haul right after I reserved it. I then received an email from U-Haul saying I had Van reserved at a different location. The folks at Barrett's didn't have an open trailer and he called uhaul to see where there was one available and he told me Stevens Point. That wouldn't work. So the guy stepped up and brought my reservation to his store, put me in an enclosed trailer that was good for my needs and honored the original rental contract. The folks at Barrett's were great!! U-Haul crapped the bed as far as I am concerned.

The truck was very old, the person filling to contract was not ready when we arrived to pick up our truck. And he did not have the appropriate number of furniture pads, then didn't update the contract, and we ended up getting charged for not returning all of them. The truck had a brake warning light come on shortly after loading the truck, and shook badly at any speed more than 35 mph.

well I had to drive 45 minutes to pick up this truck to begin with and when I got there it wasn't even there so I waited for like 45 min and was then told to go down the road another mile to pickup my truck. Which wasn't the size I requested in the first place. I was on a time limit with moving especially because I had to drive 45 min to get back and then load up the truck and drive another hour and a half...so I was not happy at all and no one did anything for me...

We had a problem getting the system to take our credit card. Barretts swiped my card three times and it did not work. I ended up paying in cash. Hope my card is not charged.

Have a form to mark where damages were on the truck before we take it. I realize there are star stickers to let us know that the company saw certain damages but the stickers were not always there. The guy said they were there and are not there now. He could tell that it was an old accident because there was corrosion in the area. I would have felt better knowing there was a sticker there or a paper showing the diagram of the truck where damages were marked and I could put other circles on also.
