I had a great experience. Elena helped me out, was professional, personable, and patient. I would recommend this U-Haul Neighborhood Dealer, the Easy Stop convenience store in St Pete. My only issue is the lack of transparency on the U-Haul website for pricing. Frankly, it feels deceitful to advertise pricing at $95 + $1.39/mile because it feels like you might be able to rent it for around $60. But then you need to add on insurance (because who is going to take the chance) and end up spending $100 when all is said and done. Extra fees tacked on, the fuel cost, it all really adds up. This is not to do with the dealer I rented from, but rather, U-Haul itself. I think it would be better practice to show the customer more transparent pricing. It’s like a gut punch when you get the final bill. Additionally, it looks like U-Haul is starting to do away with the pickup truck rentals, which is clearly a monetary choice to force customers to rent more costly moving trucks that are far more than a customer may need. Truthfully, I just needed a pickup truck. After scouring the U-Haul website for 20+ minutes looking for any location within the county that may have had a pickup truck available, I had to just go with a moving truck. I will likely use Turo the next time I need a pickup truck as they have transparent pricing. that beats U-Haul’s price.
