Our local helpers have been helping people move since 2002.
Moving Helpers are individuals or small businesses who offer their labor services on our Marketplace, many of which specialize in loading and unloading U-Haul truck rentals and U-Box® containers.
This job should have been declined the moment this text messages sent, 'The TV unit must be disassembled (3 sections) and the L-shaped desk must be disassembled.' (They didn’t have tools.) The contact person and helper were NOT able-bodied men (one had a limp and the other had bad knees). The job was NOT completed in the allotted time. They wasted time trying to get the desk out of the house, when I informed them, it needed to be disassembled. They did NOT drive their vehicle to the moving site, instead they asked to ride in my car and UHAUL truck. I had to pay for 3 extra hours because of their turtle-pace. (The only truck available was 10 feet, which created loading challenges. However, a younger team would’ve been able to efficiently do the job.) They did NOT restack the storage bins to account for space limitations or put the bed frame back together! (The 2nd man began slapping his head when I disputed paying for 4 extra hours instead of 3.) HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!
It was a husband and wife. They seemed like nice people. But I definitely would not recommend the service I received yesterday. Brand new washer dropped and now rocks like it’s missing a leg - not sure if it even still washes yet, dings and holes in walls. The husband did most of the moving by himself. Wife walked around, grunted in pain and even cried in a bedroom at one point. So, it isn’t two movers. It’s more like 1.25 movers.
