I hired movers because I cannot lift heavy furniture, boxes of books and storage bins on my own. The movers that were provided could not lift any of those things with ease, were unprepared and lack essential loading skills. They were 1 late to arrive by 30-45 mins, 2 were not wearing gloves, proper clothing or proper footwear - wearing slipper sandals, ill-fitting sweat pants, and one cut his hand early on - 3 came with no tools to assist in moving furniture or heavy items 4 lacked physical strength and dragged, pushed or rolled boxes and bins down stairs (despite requests to not do that) and 5 loaded the truck in a way that would have caused significant damage to many items, and had to be rearranged by me prior to leaving. They were kind, friendly and wanted to do a good job - but lacked physical strength or tools to do so. Some items were damaged but it's not worth making a claim.
