I have a 2015 Toyota Highlander. Want to buy boat trailer hitch and ball mount. How do I measure the rise and the drop for my vehicle?

–Carl S Markowitz 7/6/2018 11:41:04 AM

Hi, Carl! We recommend checking out this article: How to Select the Correct Ball Mount for your Hitch. This article includes a video and instructions on how to determine what drop/rise is needed for your vehicle. I hope that is helpful!

Can I use this 2’ hitch ball mount on a 2017 Cadillac Sedan to tow a trailer with 1 Zero Turn mower?

–Zachary Bodenhausen 6/19/2018 11:46:24 PM

Hello, Zachary! The towstart kits fit 2" receiver hitches. Measuring your receiver tube will give the correct shank size measurement. Then, measure from ground to top of the receiver hitch, also measure from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler while the trailer is level. The difference between the two measurements will be the rise or drop needed. I hope that is helpful!

Hello, we have a 2017 Ford Escape 2.0L AWD and are wondering which drop we need for the hitch? Thank you.

–CF 6/15/2018 12:05:24 PM

Hello! Please measure from the ground to the top of the receiver hitch, then measure from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler while the trailer is level. The difference between those two measurements will be the proper rise or drop needed. I hope that is helpful!

I have a 05 kia do I need to get starter kit to tow a small freezer

–LI 11/26/2016 3:40:49 PM

If your Kia does not already have a hitch receiver then you will need to have one installed before you will be able to tow anything. The best way to find a hitch for your vehicle is through our easy-to-use system found here. Simply enter your vehicle’s information and it will tell you exactly which hitch products you need.

I have a 2004 Nissan Titan SE. I was wondering do I need the 2 in drop or the 3 1/2 in drop

–Jesse 7/29/2016 4:53:33 AM

Hello, please level your trailer then measure from the ground to the trailer coupler, also measure from the ground to the top of the vehicles receiver hitch. The difference in the two measurements will determine drop or rise needed.

2014 acura mdx all wheel drive which drop do I need and does the ball come with the receiver?

–Bud 5/20/2015 10:26:11 AM

The receiver hitch, ball mount and ball are sold separately.

When towing a U-Haul trailer with the 2014 Acura MDX, please use ball mount part 13115 (in the rise position) and 2" ball part 4944.

–Joseph 5/26/2015 4:14:16 PM

I have a 2011 ford ranger and am renting a 4x8 enclosed trailer What would be the drop for the ball mount. The distance from ground to top of hitch is 20" Do I need a 2 or 3 1/2" drop or more?

–Rob Wangan 12/5/2014 5:34:48 PM

"When level a U-Haul trailer will measure approximately 18 inches from the ground to the top of the ball coupler. U-Haul ball mount 13115 and ball 4944 is ideal for your vehicle and trailer combination."

–Ronald 12/8/2014 1:35:01 PM

How much is this too be installed?

–Debra 11/4/2014 8:55:23 PM

If you are talking about this particular product (TOWSTART2), Uhaul would not charge anything to slide this into the hitch receiver currently on your vehicle and insert the pin. If you are actually asking how much it would cost to install an actual hitch, please contact the UHaul center closest to you for that pricing. Thanks. http://www.uhaul.com/Locations/
