  • Follow the steps listed below to help guide you through your tank exchange:
  • 1 - If you have a current tank ready for exchange, locate your nearest U-Haul retailer and place your exchange order online.
  • 3 - Upon arriving, locate the exchange cage and leave your tank beside it.
  • 4 - Go inside the store and show a U-Haul representative your receipt.
  • 7 - Connect your propane tank to your desired appliance!
  • 2 - After placing your order, head to your designated store to pick up your tank. Make sure to take a confirmation of purchase (i.e. receipt) along with your empty tank!
  • 5 - The U-Haul representative will then walk out to the exchange cage with you and you can give them your exchange tank.
  • 6 - The U-Haul representative will unlock the exchange cage, take your empty tank and give you a new, pre-filled tank.

If you won't fill a competitors tank then why don't you offer exchange tanks at all locations?

Hello, Steven! Actually, U-Haul Propane Centers will fill competitor cylinders. Our tank exchange is still a new program and not all of our locations are participating quite yet, but all propane centers will fill a competitor cylinder. I hope that is helpful!

If I leave a propane BBQ can and get one back will it be filled
