Customer Reviews Carpod Carrier

Heidi B.

It looks of good quality. It is very sturdy and spacious. The only thing I did not like so much were the securing pins on each corner. They look a little flimsy.

Anonymous customer

Purchased a class 3 hitch from u-haul and ordered the basket at the same time. Basket arm would not go into receiver until I ground the receiver down. Spent about 1/2 hour on this.

Anonymous customer

Car pod carrier is great but a bit too expensive for something like this.

I am looking to have a class 2 hitch installed o my 2004 Toyota Avalon, would this Carpod be compatible with the hitch (Part number: 36291 or Part number: 36293)?

–Brandon 2/19/2015 7:27:57 AM

The Carpod Carrier (product number M2200) is not recommended for class 2 receiver hitches. For more information on 1-1/4" cargo carriers that fit your application, please visit your local U-Haul hitch center.

I have a 2009 vw tiguan. Is it possible to open the back hatch when the carpod is loaded? Will it clear the exhaust and rear lights?

–ralph 3/7/2015 5:33:14 AM

Ralph, our hitch pro writes "The Carpod Carrier will sit approximately 1 inch beyond the Volkswagen Tiguan rear bumper. The 22" sidewall height will not allow the rear hatch door to open when fully loaded."

Thanks for asking.

–Joseph 3/10/2015 7:54:24 AM

once assembled and installed into the hitch is it easy to remove and re-attach as necessary while on a road trip?

–ralph 3/7/2015 5:36:56 AM

Securing, removal and storing of the Carpod Carrier works best when unloaded and in the folded position.

Thanks for asking Ralph.

Do you need lights on the carpod

–Brent 6/3/2017 6:28:48 AM

Hi, Brent! An accessory taillight kit must be used if the cargo carrier covers vehicle taillights. I hope that is helpful!
