I have a 2023 Wilderness Subaru Outback that will be receiving the Reliance Braking System and the 7-Way Type & 4-Way Flat Connector. Will the mechanic need to run the brake wiring from the hitch area all the way to the front of the vehicle or is the 2023 Subaru Wilderness Outback 4-Pin equiped with the brake wire near the hitch that came with the vehicle. If the brake wiring needs to be run from the hitch area all the way to the front, where do they run the wiring? under or through the car panneling up to the front of the car? Is there an area on the front console of the Wilderness available to receive the Reliance Brake Contoller box? If not, will I be able to determine where they place it for cosmetics and easy access?

–Tom Zimmerman 9/1/2024 8:30:08 AM

I had been told in the past you could use a converter for a 7 to haul a flat 4 but not the other way around and that I’d have to get my truck re wired with a 7 prong?

Ground the 47185 white wire to a clean surface on the vehicles frame. These simple steps will power your trailer turn signals, brake lights and running lights.

You will then be left with 3 wires to attach if applicable:
Black wire - When properly installed the black wire charges the 12 volt trailer battery.
Blue wire - When properly installed the blue wire powers the trailers electric brakes.
Purple wire - The purple wire is typically attached to the vehicles reverse light for releasing a boat trailers lockout brakes.
