I recently submitted a complaint about the wiring harness install on this order. This was resolved by Wayel. I remembered he was out for the week I was dealing with this and the person who installed it has since been let go. Wayel put new wiring in correctly within an hour of talking to him on the phone. He explained what was wrong and how he was going to fix it. I could tell he cares about the reputation of his location and showed concern over the job that was done prior.

I had an excellent experience with U-Haul having my hitch wiring installed. The technician did an outstanding job and went well above and beyond what I expected. He took the time to communicate clearly with me, explain the different options, and help me determine the best solution for my vehicle and needs. It was obvious that he genuinely cared about doing the job right and took pride in the quality of his work. That kind of care, professionalism, and attention to detail is refreshing to find these days. I really appreciate the time and effort he put into making sure everything was done properly. Excellent work and excellent service—I highly recommend him!

A representative at this facility did an outstanding job taking care of my needs. They had bad weather against him, but they did handle with an outstanding job, completing my hitch in the bad weather they had no complaints. They were very professional very knowledgeable the two personnel that they had working when I had my hitch put in if you can put people at all your hitch installing facility you will have made in the shade because these two personnel made it real comfortable for me. Any questions I had they had answers so I would like to thank those two personnel that worked on September 26, 2020 at 0900. thank you very much.

Install took more than twice as long as estimated and seemed to be done by junior installers without enough senior supervision.

Communication. Had to come back a second time because it was not communicated that the parts were not all in. Installer was wonderful!

Do not book an appointment in Iowa on a Sunday without verifying their mechanic is working. We drove 200 miles to our appointment to be told their mechanic was off. The manager got on the phone and started calling other locations she was great. She found a facility! The hitch was installed.

There is no place to really sit and wait and standing by the window to watch it was kind of weird so I would recommend dropping off your car and doing something else for two hours. otherwise the installer and the actual job is done excellently.

Unfortunately, I can’t remember the name of the young man that installed my hitch… It was 1.5 hours from arrival to departure with a new hitch… Unbelievable the whole operation there was clean, orderly and respectful! The manager of the facility, a young black man asked me how my experience was. I told him excellent… He thanked me and said that they try the best they can.

Dylan was courteous and had my hitch installation done in under 30 minutes! Would definitely recommend this location.

I had called in the day before with a quick question and the guy who helped me went ahead and set up my appointment and gave me piece of mind for timeframe. The woman who actually installed my hitch was absolutely wonderful! She was really friendly, knowledgeable, and answered all of my questions. She even got done my install early.

What an amazing experience at this Uhaul location. It was my first time at this location and the staff was superb. The kindness and customer service focus has no comparison. This staff is the best and the service schedule was done on time and exceded all expectations. I will return again at this specific location specially because the staff is the greatest even when I have other choices. They treated me like FAMILY

The location for supplies and cleanliness is great. Hitch install has been horrible. Installer got sick and installation of hitch had to be delayed. Not a problem- can’t control sickness. We rescheduled for following week. We had a 10 am appt but took the car in (New KIA Telluride Hybrid) the evening before so they could get to work on it. We never heard if it was done. Tried to call. No success getting answers. Went to pick up car at 4:30. It was not finished. They had put other cars ahead of ours. (4th trip to store). Manager did give us a discount and left receipt in car so pick up would be easy. When we got home and booked our trailer up we discovered that the electrical wiring had. It been completed. The cord was still inside the car- no way to connect to trailer unless smashed under door. Please have someone call us to schedule a finish to this install. Perhaps they could come to our house to finish so we don’t have to make another trip. This has been a very frustrating experience.

Fast service, nice guys. Cracked my tail light accidentally, barely can tell until they pointed out to me. Honestly not not a big deal but gave me a discount to make it right as well without me asking. Would recommend.

The owner of the location and the person who installed the trailer hitch, Kelly, were great. They were very detailed in showing me what they were going to buy, and how they were going to install it and they even helped getting me a trailer that I needed to tow my motorcycle over to North Carolina.

I took I’m my Subaru Crosstrek for installing a towing hitch. Tim is excellent!! He individualizes care to ensure the customer gets the best care suited for them. He explains in detail to ensure the customer is well informed. He is respectful.

Installation was great overall, the crew did a good job and worked hard especially on the wiring. Only thing was the trim that they removed was not put back in properly, but that's pretty minor. Overall I was very happy!

Nothing it was a great experience.

Easy to setup appointment online. Hitch install on RAV4 is fast. Tech had it done in about 30 mins and said car mfg had all the bolt in points to make it easy. Waiting area and store staff were great.

I received excellent care for this entire process. I made a couple of calls to ask some questions and received lots of helpful information. When I arrived for the installation, it went very quickly and the gentlemen helping me even installed my bike rack! So, incredibly helpful! 5 stars! The staff at this U-Haul are genuinely friendly and helpful. They made the whole process pleasant even when things weren’t perfect. If you show up without a reservation, expect a long wait. The place can get backed up. Booking ahead makes a big difference. Once you’re in, the crew is great! patient, friendly, and they actually care about getting you sorted. The gentleman who installed my hitch was working so hard. He checked in 3 people, received a truck and some accessories and had me out of there with a new hitch in an hour. I didn’t get his name but he was there 8/28 and he deserves double the pay he is making.

Hitch man was sick…he came in, did a bang up job on my hitch install! Great attitude, very professional, spent sometime with me going over the parts install. Uhaul does it again. Used them over the years for installments on Jeep, BMW, Mercedes, and now a Volkswagen! They have been outstanding….fast and extremely knowledgeable about the parts there, guarantee to support their products and installations! Also thanks to the facilities manager. Gave me a discount because the job took another day!

Ran into a bump because my car didn't have pre-installed wiring and they were able to complete the installation by tapping into the car's wiring which I appreciate it because we install these things because we need them and I could stay on schedule.

There is nothing to improve! Every part of the process was perfect and more, special requests were accommodated even when imconvenient, and communication was friendly and professional. Everyone I've ever interacted with at this location deserves a raise. The installation itself was excellently done in under an hour, and I have already sung my praises for UHaul of Columbia, CT to friends and family! The UHaul app could've been easier to work with, but in the end I'm actually glad I had to go to the location in person. Would give six stars if possible.

Highly recommend this U-Haul location for their excellent customer service and workmanship! I booked an appointment online Friday morning to have a trailer hitch installed later that day. They were closing early due to construction so they called to tell me they couldn’t do it that day and wouldn’t be able to get me in until Monday. When I explained I was leaving for my trip Sunday morning and needed the trailer hitch before then, Jeremy worked it out to come in that Saturday morning (normally his day off) to take care of the installation. Very professional on the phone and I couldn’t believe that someone actually went the extra mile for a customer. That’s a rare occurrence these days! A huge thank you to Jeremy for going above and beyond and for doing an excellent job on the installation. I truly appreciate it and recommend anyone needing a trailer hitch installed or anything from U-Haul to use this location.

Quick and easy install

It would be nice if U-Haul kept a full range of possible fuses that are required for trailer mode in automobiles after it installation. I had to go by the necessary fuses at AutoZone

Please make sure to let customers know that the drop off time is not necessarily the time they will work on the vehicle. I dropped off the vehicle at 9am and it was not ready until 3:30 pm. The technician was great. I was not made aware of this when I made the appointment.

Aquire more local staff to answer incoming phone calls. I attempted to call the store multiple times and was unsuccessful multiple times. I then contacted customer service and explained why I needed to speak with someone at the location. The customer advocate placed me on hold as she attempted to contact the store and was unsuccessful also. She returned to the line and said she left them a vm to call me back and needless to say no one ever did.

First of all, the staff is always great at this location. But I want point out the exceptional service I received from Ryan on 08/05/26. The hitch install job was excepted to take potentially 3 1/2 hours or more. Done in under an hour and a half. Once complete, he gave me a thorough rundown of the Bluetooth braking component and offered a complete breakdown of what was done. He did this all in a way I could understand. And with a genuine smile on his face. He even followed up with me later that same day to make sure all was good and I was completely satisfied. The job was completed for nearly $2000 less than the dealer quote. I cannot believe the dealer markup. Anyways, I cannot recommend U-Haul enough, specifically the Stickney Ave location. I even ordered 2 U-Boxes to move some items to a house I have in AZ. Much less expensive than competitors. Thanks guys and gals at U-Haul!!! You saved me money and I was more than happy to give you the business and this shout out .

The Manager Amanda, and the man who did the work, Dillion, were extremely helpful to me. My light bulbs were out for the brake light, and turn signal. Dillion went out of his way to replace them for me after I bought them. I appreciate that they helped me to get this work done that day because I’m moving soon . I highly recommend them.

I think the people that install the hitch should have a car lift not just ramps to drive up on. I feel like the gentleman who installed the hitch did very well. He stated the wiring was the most difficult and I definitely can see that I’m not impressed with the way it was wired and the looseness of the wires in the engine compartment and lack of attention to putting things back the way they were. I had to put several plastic coverings over bolts where they had taken them off and also missing a washer and a nut to hold one of the compartments down. i’m sure this job could be made a little bit easier on your staff with the proper equipment such as a lift. I did not know that the wiring would be left inside my spare tire. I was a little disappointed in that, and the disarray of my trunk area, however, as long as it works, that’s really all that matters to me and I would recommend U-Haul to others for a hitch installation.

I want to commend Mike who installed the hitch. He went beyond the call of duty to research how to do my vehicle, which ended up being tricky. He was so professional, cared so much about what he was doing, and had great patience. Thank you Mike! He deserves a bonus or raise!!!

My experience at UHaul Port Ave was excellent. Sometimes the best experiences happen when problems happen. I brought in my car to have a hitch installed. The hitch was installed but the trailer wiring could not be. The problem was not with UHaul or the Port Avenue facility. The problem was with my car. The technicians there spent some hours attempting to finish my installation. When they could not finish they fully explained the problem and gave me options to go forward. They also promptly credited my account for the work they could not accomplish. I am quite happy with the service I received at Port Avenue. I will always use this store for my moving and trailering needs.

Clearly the staff is dedicated to the business. Despite being understaffed and overwhelmed with work, the UHAUL staff was able to install my trailer hitch on a busy Saturday. While it was a little behind schedule, they did a great job. Kudos to these guys, they deserve a raise.

The very first interaction at the front desk is what stops me from giving an excellent rating. The reception from desk attendants is nothing. If by chance they see you They just look up at you like you’re an alien from outer space. One questions themselves as to whether they are at the right place. No greeting or information was provided. The trainee was an absolute zero who was too lazy to speak but would just leave you hanging. The technician, Mr. Columbia was outstanding. He provided instruction and information about my hitch. He is a very kind and thoughtful man.

I had a very frustrating experience where an install of a brake controller was performed by a U-haul in my home area but bc we were leaving the next morning we couldn’t get it fixed by the original shop. So while on this roadtrip we were setup with an appointment here to rectify the situation. After explains the situation to them, Lauren and Caleb dove into right away to diagnose the issue. They quickly found the issue and came up with a fix to make it right and mount the controller with a bracket instead of the prior double stick tape. Both Lauren and Caleb went above and beyond to fix this mess up by a previous branch and honestly restored my hope in U-haul. I can’t thank them enough for doing this so we could drive the rest of this roadtrip with confidence in having trailer brakes. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

The type of hitch we got has two metal rings that extend below box into which I insert my bike rack. Unfortunately, my driveway is on a slope and the rings scrape the ground when I back out. Can I have the rings removed or repositioned so they don’t scrape?

Representative Beckie was absolutely amazing, the best service I have ever received. She was amazing and encouraging about the use of trailer. I made some mistakes on the return. I didn’t see the message for return, I only used the trailer for an hour. Beckie was able to dock the trailer for us. Called the next day spoke with another great Rep. Brianna she was able to close the ticket. I will drive to this location and pass up the closest U-Haul places just to experience the great service! Thank you!

I started getting worried I wasn't hearing anything as 5pm and 6pm got closer, but then I looked up that they were open until 8pm and saw that "by end of the day" was later than I had thought. They finished avout 6:40pm, so it was fine. If that had mentioned "we'll call you before we close at 8..: would have helped me a.little. otherwise all.was great.

The hitch wiring was what was accomplished. The wiring inside the vehicle at the back doors was rerouted and connected to the outside in a manner more reasonable no wires cluttering inside the van. Excellent job done.

I had a two inch receiver hitch installed on our Toyota Rav 4 at approximately half the price of the OEM item! Fatima joked that I brought her lunch as I was eating a bagel when I showed up for the appointment. I was willing to share but she declined!

Michael, our installer, was amazing in helping me to get the hitch installed when I needed it to be. He went above and beyond and can be raided with a 5 plus plus plus plus. He communicated effectively, he even was amazingly fast in terms of installation I got out at least an hour ahead of what I expected and answered all of my questions no matter how simple they were. I would highly recommend this location for installations when you need a hitch.
