I made a reservation to pick up a truck in my city (Bayonne, New Jersey). However, when I arrived, I was told that no vehicle was available and was sent to another city, Lyndhurst, New Jersey, which already caused extra inconvenience and wasted time. When I picked up the truck in Lyndhurst, I was charged $200 upfront, supposedly covering 100 miles. In other words, after canceling my original reservation in Bayonne, I had to drive to another city and was also charged mileage that was a direct result of U-Haul’s mistake. I never received any refund. They simply released part of the initial charge, but the actual total I ended up paying was $138 USD. In summary, a rental that was advertised at around $30 ended up costing me $138. This does not feel fair or transparent. Poor coordination between locations directly affected my wallet. My experience was frustrating and disappointing, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend U-Haul’s service.
