Galena’s Growth Makes U-Haul a Must for Keg & Cask Liquor
GALENA, ILL. (May 8, 2015) – Keg & Cask Liquor Store opened 30 years ago as a single-purpose business. Today, it features a gas station, a convenience store and serves as the lone U-Haul neighborhood dealer in growing town of Galena.
To keep up with his community’s expanding needs, owner Perry Mackey recently added U-Haul services to Keg & Cask Liquor Store.
Located at 11358 Industrial Drive, Keg & Cask Liquor Store is open 6 a.m.-10 p.m. every day.
Keg & Cask Liquor Store offers U-Haul® trucks, trailers, support rental items like utility dollies, in-store pick-up for boxes and after-hours drop-off for equipment. Mackey said that when he bought Keg & Cask Liquor Store from the previous owners 15 years ago, he wasn’t sure why he purchased the property.
“It was just crazy,” Mackey said. “I had interest in something like this.”
Keg & Cask Liquor Store’s one-acre lot is in a prime location right off Highway 20 near The Galena Territory, a private residential and recreational property. Retirees are attracted to The Galena Territory’s 225-acre manmade lake and Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa’s 63 holes of golf.
Mackey said that since the community is attracting new residents and new home purchases, Keg & Cask Liquor Store is in a position to help them thanks to its U-Haul dealership.
“It’s convenient,” Mackey said. “I’m glad we (partnered with U-Haul). It’s worked out well.”
Mackey noted there are several storage facilities around Keg & Cask Liquor Store, so residents come for U-Haul trucks to move their valuables in and out of storage units.
Keg & Cask Liquor Store also is eight miles away from Chestnut Mountain Resort, a tourist ski destination that brings in customers looking for equipment and accessories. Stationed near the Mississippi River, Galena is a historic town with many old buildings and museums that give it a pleasant, quaint feel, according to Mackey.
U-Haul and Keg & Cask Liquor Store are striving to benefit the environment through sustainability initiatives. Truck sharing is a core U-Haul sustainability business practice that allows individuals to access a fleet of trucks that is larger than what they could access on an individual basis.
Every U-Haul truck placed in a community helps keep 19 personally owned large-capacity vehicles, pickups, SUVs and vans off the road. Fewer vehicles means less traffic congestion, less pollution, less fuel burned and cleaner air.
Keg & Cask Liquor Store is a great place to become U-Haul Famous. Take your picture in front of a U-Haul product, send it in and your face could land on the side of a U-Haul truck. Upload your photo through Instagram using #uhaulfamous, or go to www.uhaulfamous.com to submit photos and learn more.
