Meredith Ford and U-Haul Cater to Students, Plymouth Community

PLYMOUTH, N.H. (May 8, 2015) – Meredith Ford, a family-owned dealership that opened in 1957, has expanded its reach by adding another location and partnering with the leader in do-it-yourself moving and self-storage.

Meredith Ford at 500 Tenney Mountain Hwy. recently became a U-Haul® neighborhood dealer and has enjoyed the spike in business as a result.

Meredith Ford is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and offers U-Haul trucks, trailers, towing equipment, support rental items, boxes and much more. After-hours drop-off is available for U-Haul renters.

Tina Spence, granddaughter to Meredith Ford founder Marshall French, noted the business is an all-inclusive Ford® dealership and service center that saw an opportunity to continue expanding its business and customer care by joining the U-Haul dealer network.

Spence, who has worked at Meredith Ford since age 14, said the business has gone through many changes like the new facility on Tenney Mountain Highway that houses the U-Haul equipment.

“The town has been really good and they have welcomed us here,” Spence said. “A lot of our customer base (at the second location) is still the same people.”

Spence described Plymouth as a very small community that is centralized around Plymouth State University. “That takes up a big part of the town. It’s kind of like the epicenter,” Spence said.

Since Meredith Ford is less than two miles from campus, Spence said students come in looking to get their car serviced and then realize U-Haul moving supplies are available. They return when it is time to move their valuables in or out of university housing.

“We seem to have a lot of business,” Spence said.

U-Haul and Meredith Ford are striving to benefit the environment through sustainability initiatives. Truck sharing is a core U-Haul sustainability business practice that allows individuals to access a fleet of trucks that is larger than what they could access on an individual basis.

Every U-Haul truck placed in a community helps keep 19 personally owned large-capacity vehicles, pickups, SUVs and vans off the road. Fewer vehicles means less traffic congestion, less pollution, less fuel burned and cleaner air.

Meredith Ford is a great place to become U-Haul Famous. Take your picture in front of a U-Haul product, send it in and your face could land on the side of a U-Haul truck. Upload your photo through Instagram using #uhaulfamous, or go to www.uhaulfamous.com to submit photos and learn more.
