Omaha’s Center Street Storage Follows Plan, Expands with U-Haul

To assist customers with their moving and storage needs, Center Street Storage also sells tape, shrink wrap, dust covers and boxes of every size.

Hours of operation are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday. After-hours drop-off is available for U-Haul equipment.

The Center Street Storage facility was built in 1982. In 2000, the previous owner expanded the number of storage lots by 50 percent and opened a climate-controlled building. Omaha native Mike Micek took ownership of Center Street Storage in 2014. The facility totals 56,000 square feet.

Micek is not alone in this business venture. Reliant Real Estate LLC manages the property.

“Reliant and I decided to sign on with U-Haul before I even bought the property,” Micek said. “U-Haul was always part of the plan.”

Reliant Real Estate is based out of Georgia and manages 30 facilities across the country. Reliant has been involved with U-Haul dealerships for years.

Adam Rush is the property manager at Center Street Storage through Reliant. Rush has raised the storage occupancy rate from 68 to 80 percent, so units are filling up fast.

U-Haul and Center Street Storage are striving to benefit the environment through sustainability initiatives. Truck sharing is a core U-Haul sustainability business practice that allows individuals to access a fleet of trucks that is larger than what they could access on an individual basis.
