Roethel and U-Haul Help Both Sides of the Border in Ogdensburg
OGDENSBURG, N.Y. (Aug. 21, 2015) – Roethel Mailing Center at 1801 Ford St. has the lone FedEx Shipping Center in Saint Lawrence County, a convenient option for mailing and picking up packages for customers on both sides of the U.S.-Canadian border.
Getting those large packages home recently got considerably easier.
“The opportunity to become a U-Haul center was perfect,” said Laurel Roethel, owner of Roethel Group LLC. “We were already renting trailers to Canadian customers for their larger packages.”
As a new U-Haul® neighborhood dealer, Roethel Group can assist do-it-yourself movers and those in need of transporting packages with truck and trailer rentals, towing equipment, support rental items and after-hours drop-off.

The Roethel Mailing Center offers U-Haul rentals and ground, air and international shipping during business hours 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.
“A half-hour after the district manager put the U-Haul sign up, I received a call for rentals,” said Roethel. “Not everybody has a truck because they don’t need it all the time. But with U-Haul, we are able to have something available for their short-term use.”
Roethel has been in the Ford Street building since 1984. Laurel’s parents, Thomas and Laurel, bought it as an auto parts store before turning it into a mailing center. Parent company Roethel Group LLC maintains the mailing center, a storage facility and River Rat Design, a graphics and screen-printing business.
Roethel is an active promoter of tourism and community support in Ogdensburg, working with the International Seaway Festival Committee, the Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce, Toys for Tots and the Light up the Night Parade.
U-Haul Company of New York and Vermont, Inc. and Roethel Group are striving to benefit the environment through sustainability initiatives. Truck sharing is a core U-Haul sustainability business practice that allows individuals to access a fleet of trucks that is larger than what they could access on an individual basis.
Every U-Haul truck placed in a community helps keep 19 personally owned large-capacity vehicles, pickups, SUVs and vans off the road. Fewer vehicles means less traffic congestion, less pollution, less fuel burned and cleaner air.
The Roethel Mailing Center is a great place to become U-Haul Famous. Take your picture in front of a U-Haul product, send it in and your face could land on the side of a U-Haul truck.
