U-Haul comes to Shipshe Rental near Amish, Mennonite Communities

SHIPSHEWANA, IND. (Jan. 21, 2015) – Shipshe Rental Center is celebrating 10 years of business by giving the quaint, agricultural town of Shipshewana its only U-Haul neighborhood dealer.

Second-generation owner Jeremy Hershberger recently partnered with U-Haul to complement his primary business at Shipshe Rental Center, which carries everything from machinery to furniture to accommodate a variety of needs. The store’s rental items range from air compressors and power tools to tractors and tables.

“I was interested because I already do rental,” Hershberger said. “I thought U-Haul would be a good idea.”

Shipshe Rental Center at 900 N. State Road 5 is open 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 7 a.m.-noon Saturday. For now, Hershberger stocks U-Haul® trucks, trailers and moving supplies but hopes to expand his product line in the future.

Shipshe Rental Center is close to town and has witnessed a good bit of development in the surrounding area, which only stands to grow its customer base.

Shipshewana is defined by its Mennonite and Amish communities and attracts many visitors. The town is named for a Potawatomi chief whose Native American tribe first settled the land in northern Indiana.
