1. UHAUL redirected me to this pu location which was 50 min out of my way 2. could not easily find the location on google maps becusase of the way it was sent to me, ie 2025 CR 44 Spencerville, ON K0E1X0 3. I am constantly frustrated with uhaul and reservations only to find out that it means that i cannot rely on it

I was told that this address was not recorded on my agreement so an additional charge was to be assessed. But it would also be corrected at this location so I should not worry! My final bill shows the extra charge but NO correction. And I cannot get a response from the two dudes on site! Disgusting and totally unacceptable!!

JOSEPH CI originally booked for the Kemptville location but my reservation got changed to the location closer to Johnstown which is an additional 50 minutes of driving round trip. When I arrived and waited more than 5 minutes, I was told that the previous renter had not returned the trailer and that they had nothing for me. Absolutely no offer of any assistance in finding a solution, they just stared at me dumbly. I left and tried calling U-Haul. I waited 25 minutes before anyone answered - well, someone who manages rentals in Nova Scotia answered and then dumped me back in the queue for Ontario. I eventually got ahold of someone and they said that the previous renter would be returning the trailer in about 5 minutes. I had already left and was going to try another approach so I had to drive back and get the trailer. The trailer itself was fine, but the time and gas wasted was really annoying and made a long day even longer. The delay meant that I could not use the landfill site that I had planned to and had to use another one further away and more expensive. I do not understand why I was not advised that the trailer was not available in advance. No one really seemed to care about the inconvenience and cost that this added to my day. I have never had a bad experience with U-Haul, but this one was very poor.

RONALD PWas half hour late returning auto transport due to traffic and was charged an additional full day. When I called Uhaul had to lodge a complaint and wait for results. Really?

JANICE MThe only disappointing thing was that the trailer didn't have a roll up door. The two doors that open outward just changed how close i could park to the door to unload. I wasn't aware that was how the trailer would be equiped.
Adam MThe rental , we did online which was fine. However, Why don’t your trailers come with a lift or a stand so you can easily attach our vehicles to the trailer? Do you expect us to lift thousands of pounds by hand? When we went back in to ask if they have a lift like some U-Haul stores carry , they said no and wanted to charge us for man power to come help lift it onto our vehicle. Really!!! That’s Rotten customer service! :( They did finally help without us lining their pockets. When we returned back, they finally had man power to assist and came out with a 2x4 which looked to be what they were using for helping other customers! Hmm wonder if they asked for payment with them too? Shame on them! What would happen if one of your customers tried lifting it by themselves and severely injured their back or dropped it on their foot and broke it?? Are you covering the medical bills too? after all , we did get the insurance!! I think you should at least provide free assistance or better yet go the extra distance to provide the lifting apparatus to all U-Haul stores and what better way to stand out from your competitors then providing one with each rental so if we need to remove the trailer from our vehicles while out on rentals, it’s done safely which in turn would reduce the risk of damage to your rentals and our vehicles as well as injuries and especially in case of an emergency. Come on U-Haul, you can do better! You have been around long enough that you should know that SAFETY comes first! That’s how you should be lining your pockets! With repeat customers!
JAMES BThings may change in a year. But I had to hook up the trailer myself in the pouring rain. The chains had no rubber and seemed a little sketchy. Every other Uhaul rental I had, connected the initial setup.

sherrie mIt’s 2024 guys, are you have made renting more difficult than it was 30 years ago. Supply scanners for the drivers licence at every location. Data collection and confirmation should take less than a second today instead of 10 -20 minutes. With this busy location it took over a half an hour.
Wayne YWe rented a utility trailer and dolly for 2 days. Trailer was not returned until 3pm and no dolly was available. Worse service ever!

Ken MI had taken a picture of the KM’s and gas gauge before I left the parking lot When I went in to return the truck and the guy told me how many km used I told him there is a discrepancy I showed him my pic and he refused to correct it and told me I had to wait for my email receipt and take it up with U-Haul as that’s what he received from them their website so when I got my receipt I noticed he entered MY used KM’s wrong 😑 so I think he deliberately “stole” km’s used this is dishonest and I would tell everyone if u use them make sure u know your KM’s and gas (no issue with gas) (YET)
LINDA SThe trailer had no jack on the tounge. It was impossible to put it on my truck alone I have never seen that before were you can't hook up a small trailer on your own .They had a yard guy help me put it on and had to have a milk crate and price of wood to pry it off on return .

Michael TThere was no one to provide assistance to hook up the trailer and stated that it was safe for traveling. A truck driver from the restaurant assisted with helping to hook it up. A women behind the gas bar came out and took a pic. Spoke with a Steve and he said just hook it up. No indication that the trailer had been inspected before travelling.
Heather DSecond time you moved the pick up location. This time it was 40 min away. Pic up the trailer was covered in snow, staff was useless… when I got to my house the tire pressures were way off… went to drop it off and was told to take it to another location! Sure it’s only my gas and time… this is the second time you moved my pick up location. I reserved another trailer drove tot the site and was told it was not there… called for the 50 credit and got nothing…. U haul wins a great company… won’t be back…. I know Luke you care….

John HUhaul changed my pick up location. Had to drive an extra hour to pick up and return to my starting point vs the original 20 minutes. Filled in the application online but still ha to answer identical questions on site.
Douglas HThe location didn’t record the day and time I returned the equipment, then proceeded to charge me for extra time with the equipment. It was a fight to get them to refund me.? Had to tell them to check their cameras to see when it was returned. I don’t need this type of stress. When a customer requests a receipt that proves when the equipment is returned, they should give it, and not say “no, we don’t do that”.
Andre LThis location was fine but our total experience was very frustrating. We first booked a moving truck in Brockville only to have them tell us the day before they did not have a truck. They re-booked a truck further away from the direction we would ultimately be going. I showed up early at the second location on the day of the move. After we paid for the truck and got the keys we discovered there was a problem with the transmission and the truck would not stay in “park”. Not safe. So they cancelled our order and suggested we try calling Spencerville. That was even further east away from Kingston where we were moving the furniture. Fortunately Spencerville had a truck but we had to take a bigger one. This all delayed when we could begin the move and meant we were very late getting to our destination. A very frustrating experience!
BARBARA LThis location was fine, first location I went to didn't have the trailer I reserved and had to travel 30 min in a different direction to pick up a substitute. Trailer was also filled with ice that had to be removed. That happens in winter I suppose. But the location in Kemptville was unacceptable as they didn't have the equipment I needed.

Jessikka MAt the initial contact at the Spencerville location, I was told that I didn't have to reserve that far in advance. When I went back to reserve on the day I was told to reserve... that is when all the crap started. The didn't have the vehicle now it was already recovered. I would have to take a bigger vehicle at a higher price. Also at the initial contact I was told one mileage price, then later the same mileage price, and then a mileage price that was $0.20 twenty cents more a kilometer. In the end, I had to drive an hour out of my way in the opposite direction just to pick up the vehicle. The whole experience from start to finish was extremely bad. I for certain will not be renting from that location again, and probably not from U-Haul. I am sure that there are less aggravating options out there. I don't care that they think they gave me some kind of break on the truck that I ended up with, it was a 2 hour round trip to pick it up... I will rent from someone else in the future.

Uwe GNot much. I opted for 4* (not 5*) because the U-Haul franchise is obviously very much secondary to their business model (as a gas/petrol station) and the location was quite a bit out of my way (1/2 hr drive). But the staff were friendly and efficient, the pick-up and drop-off both went without a hitch, and the trailer performed very well.

Pierre Abetter plowing of the snow. the front safety chain needs to be located on the outside of the front, instead of inside, hard to see to unscrew the coupling. Need to oil those couplings on a regular bases. I had to lay down under the trailer with a wrench to unscrew coupling, in the snow freezing temperatures, I was not happy.

Steven OI would say that the experience was great the guys at the location where I picked it up were excellent to deal with and returning the equipment was quick and easy I would definitely say to anyone to use the online ordering system to make things go faster as what I did literally walked in showed my identification hitched on to my order they took a quick picture and I left. So a big thank you to the guys at 17 acres travel center and restaurant and the U-Haul company

Glen MI don't believe the locations were responsible for my horrible U Haul experience. After setting everything up online to pick up a 20 ft truck in Brockville I got a call a few days later explaining how they would only have a 26 ft truck available for the same price. I was alright with that and went to pick the truck up from the location I requested online. After getting there and being told there was no truck there for me the Brockville location owner then tried to figure out how to help me. While that was happening I got a call about 15 to 20 minutes after my pickup time telling me that they had to change the location because Brockville didn't have the truck. A lot of help that was. Not only did I get notified of the change the day of my move but also past my pick up time. I was then forced to drive to Spencerville back and forth to pick up and drop off the truck. No compensation, hardly an apology and for way more than I should have payed. My own personal gas included in the drives there and back. Truck had next to no gas in it as well as an empty water bottle. So not only did I have to pay much much more in gas and kms for this, I also was well over an hour late starting my move when I had to be out at a certain time and the people helping had to wait as well. I do expect some kind of compensation for the most horrible experience I have ever had with U Haul.
