I just sent the following email to u-Haul. I can't upload the supporting photos here. http://uhaul.com/s/4E03732428 To Whom It May Concern: I booked a U-Haul for April 26th at 392 Leonard. Online it seemed as I had to return it by 4:30pm. At time of pickup it was explained to me that the location closes at 4:30pm but I could return the truck whenever I wanted. I estimated 9pm. The man I spoke with said the return time did not matter, as long as I processed the return via the App, which is posted on a sheet of paper next to the drop box. If I did not, I would be charged $20. When I picked up the truck the fuel was at 25 miles, so I went back to the location office to complaint the fuel was so low. At 4am, after a whole day of moving, my husband and I went to the location to return the truck and put gas (the location is also a small gas station). The pumps were not operating. So I drove to a gas station nearby and put gas (receipt in attachment). I filled the gas tank to 40 miles as shown in photo. Then we went back to the location, and the same man who I talked to at pick-up was opening the location and the gas station (4:30am). We asked where he wanted us to park and he said to leave it where we were. He took the key of the truck. He said I had to do the return process via the App. I had to ask for the key back because the photos I took could not be uploaded, I had to take them while the App was open. I uploaded the photos of the odometer and the fuel (both in attachment) in the App. Not sure it was done correctly, I asked the man to help me, but he refused. We were exhausted so we left, thinking everything was fine. Now I see the bill with charges that I think should not be charged to me. Link to the bill attached. After hours Service Fee $20 â€“ Why? We did all by ourselves. $30 Fuel Service Charge â€“ I put gas $31.50 6GL â€“ I put the gas, more than I should have Please review my supporting documents and adjust my charges / refund me accordingly.Patrizia B.

The owner/operator was efficient and clear at the pick up. All good marks there. The problem is U-haul's new App. It's completely unusable. It takes forever, it's hard to read, it makes missed assumptions, requires using the location of your phone, and generally makes a total mess of what used to be a strait forward rental transaction. Truly hard to believe anyone at Uhaul thought this would make the customer happy.MICHAEL B.

The people are rude and unhelpful. The truck was dirty, like grimy dirty. The trucks brakes were bad. A couple times I almost hit vehicles in front of me because the brakes didn't work properly. Also the truck made a loud whirring sound which I think is related to the brakes.ANDREW G.

Overall app/login experience as a first time user was pretty rough. Setting up the account was so complicated-I kept getting sent authentication codes that would not work, location services I don't use on my phone had to be turned on. It took us a half hour just to confirm we were at the location. I'm not a grandma, and understand tech, so this was a lot!Megan J.
I did not enjoy the online experience. There was an attendant there who could have done all of it, but I had to waste my time doing the check in /check out procedures on my phone instead. Also, two of the tires had low air and the guy didn't have the equipment to fill the tires.Alexander K.

Absolutely terrible!!!! First I signed up for a location near my house and then received a call saying there wasn't a van there so had to go to another. At that location there was no one there (I signed up to check out from a person) and the mobile procedure is straight up fucked!!! The buttons don't work on an iphone. It was a nightmare. Then there were no furniture blankets in the van and I was picking up furniture! Perhaps worst of all, when I returned the van the guys working there couldn't be bothered with my complaints--even though it was their fault there were no furniture blankets. They were rude. This place is the worst van rental place in history. I'm going to leave the worst review possible on yelp and any other site I can come across. GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER FOLKS!!!Graham M.

The employees at that location are horrible they were not helpful in anyway and rude. I was also charged $20 for some type of convenience fee In which no one came out to inspect our return or collect the key I was directed by the employee to drop off the key in some hole in the wall. The truck was not swept inside the back. The engine light and maintenance light was on the entire time. The engine revved in 1st gear way too high the entire time, I drove back to the location and told the person there and they said it was fine and to drive it anyways. It was not a good experience at all.David B.

In this day and age, with rideshare and the likes of revel and Zipcar I feel (as grateful as I am for uhaul when I need a truck in the city) I should be able to book on an app that already has my details and get straight into the van and drive off. This location is like a garage from the Wild West. The staff are always busy and dismissive (3 years in a row so it won't change) and even though you fill in the express check in stuff they just do it ALL again. And then you have to take pics of your driving license when picking the vehicle up. At the very least I would put the license photo part on the booking end so you don't have to be clumsily taking a picture of your license when trying to pick up the truck. Uhaul is amazing other than its pick up and drop off protocols. It would be incredible if you could have an account with your license and details already set so the only thing you have to do is report damage and fuel through a FAST app and hop in and go. Man at this location was extremely rude and not helpful at all. He insisted on me checking in online even after literally showing him that the website was not letting me. Instead of helping me he just started yelling at me when I literally could not do anything on my end. He also claimed that my key would be in a lockbox and I would receive a code. I never received a code and he literally had the key with him. The truck was also extremely dirty when I picked it up. There was half eaten food and at least 7 opened water bottles all over the floor. I would not recommend this location to my worst enemy and if I could give them 0 stars I would.Ciera K.
the location is absolutely awful. they say they are open for uhaul rentals on sunday but nobody there that can help is there. there was one person who would not help at all. there were 2 other people at the location also having trouble getting their rental. will never be getting a rental there againRomy M.
Improve experience for international renters. Appalling service, unable to rent my car until the 3rd time, and presenting my work visa (that means getting to the car, being told this, then having to go 30 minutes back home to get my visa, and then coming back). No warning telling me this was the case. Customer service killed my chat conversation with "Unable to confirm rental due to lack of documentation", no option to upload a photo. Just all round bad experience. The van itself was fine, in the end. So if you can get the van, go for it. But international renters beware.Ralph M.

The Location was closed on arrival and I had already booked the Uhaul. I then proceeded to to wait on the phone with multiple different U-Haul representatives for 45minute to resolve the situation. There is no in-person office, only online checkouts. There isn't always someone available to help if there are issues. The online app also doesn't workCLAIRE ADELE H.
There is no actual uhaul representation and no service experience at all. If there is, there is a service fee charge of $20.00?? Convenience fee? All of the work is left up to the customer to do on their phones, without a proper indoor area for customers. The store is dirty and messy and doesn't feel sanitary to be inside. This is a gas station and repair shop, not ideal for customers.Mario R.

The Uhaul did not have the equipment I requested. Also, the battery died twice and we wasted hours waiting for Uhaul to send someone to help. The first time we got help from a kind samaritan. The second time I had to get the Uhaul towed.Alison C.

Obtaining the keys was an absolute nightmare. It took one hours to unlock the lockbox, and when we did, there were no keys inside of it. On hold with customer service for epic wait times, locked out of my UHaul account for no discernable reason.THEODORA M.
The truck was dirty, falling apart, and I couldn't go over 50 mph. It didn't have a gas cap, smelled like pure gasoline in the cab the entire time, shook profusely, and was a terrible ride that added so much time to my trip. The back by the ramp was so bent it got stuck every time I pulled it out, snd the lock mechanism stuck. I can't believe that I actually paid for this rental, as a company you should be ashamed for how bad the state of this truck in your fleet.John S.

We waited over an hour to get approval through the app. There is no internet service at the location and the online coordinators were very slow with answering and were not helpful when we were having issues with the lock. Broken passenger mirror which was obviously not repaired in between rentals. Very dangerous when driving a large van. Also, human shit ground into the door handles which apparently Uhaul proudly boasts as part of its outstanding service. the 24/7 truck-share set up is pathetic, slow and in no way efficient. It took me almost an hour to get the truck which was an additional hour i had to pay my movers because it in turned made me an hour late to meet them. I specifically chose "in person" pick up when i booked the truck to avoid any delay issues like this. So disappointing and frustrating to be changed to this inefficient automated system without first even asking meTom R.
