The items I reserved prior to picking up the vehicle (2 furniture dollies, 2 hand trucks, and 1 dozen blankets) were not provided. When asked, the person at A1 said there was nothing on my order/reservation despite my order clearly showing what I reserved and was charged (opposite what was shown on UHaul email). He then provided 1 dolly and 1 hand truck...when we went to use the dolly, we found it had a broken wheel. This disaster made moving much more difficult and a few hours longer than scheduled. Will not recommend U-Haul to anyone!

Make sure the van actually has the gas stated. Make sure all ramps are secure and won't fall out on the BQE. Also check power steering belt as well as alignment. Truck swerves and steering is hard. Poor maintenance of trucks.

The customer service needs a lot of improvement . The retrieving and drop off also needs some organization. Your rates and apps are not at all correct. I have tried to issue a complaint and possible correction. However your app doesn't always work I have screenshots of the errors. I was wrongly charged. You advertise for the day and you charge for 4 hours not even from the tine you pick up

I was overcharged, the online check in process was more difficult than expected and took long, there was no one in the area to help, and customer service changed my location and time reservation making my moving experience very rushed and inconvenient. The change of location was also a lot farther than anticipated. I hope to get a refund for the over charge. I was not expecting to have such a bad experience as previous rentals with uhaul have not been this disappointing.

The self check-in app was extremely slow and did not have good connection. The truck had cigarett butts in it and smelled horrible- like an ashtray. Also, I reserved a furniture dolly and utilities dolly and both were not in the back of the U-haul van, which I didn't see until I got to my destination. This was not a great experience for me.

The whole experience was pretty bad to be honest and I'm not someone that is hard to please. I had reserved a uhaul weeks in advanced and got to the pick up at 5 am with my girlfriend early just to make sure there wouldn't be any problems and come to find out the person didn't set things up properly to be able to use the uhaul. So I had to spend money to Uber her home and Uber myself across town to get to a vehicle that actually could be used. The verification process was archaic and forced me to have my brother wake up to speak to a rep to verify my identity. Finding the actual uhaul is like a puzzle and the locations are dangerous (under bridges with a ton of homeless people). Not a good experience at all and would be very unlikely for me to recommend.

Your online check in and check out is the worst I've ever seen. It takes an extremely long time and is not user friendly – it's confusing and difficult to use. The attendant wouldn't help me whatsoever, he was very rude.

I returned the van refueled on the same level at the time of pickup - I triple checked it, but I still got charged the fueling fee of $30. I am disappointed that somebody would do this, as I took the van to the gas station and returned it refueled. Truly despicable.

The pickup of the truck was difficult as the key was very difficult to get. The check in process had multiple flaws which prolonged the pickup by over half an hour. The 2 pieces of equipment we requested were not available upon pickup, so our moving took even longer.

My review has less to do with the specific location or equipment, but the overall rental experience. Originally I had rented a cargo van from a separate location that was not available when I arrived, nor was I able to speak to someone and find a new van at a different location for another hour. I was working under a separate time constraint with my storage's closing time, which made this experience less than ideal. Not one customer representative I talked to was even slightly empathetic to my circumstances, and I distinctly remember one of them saying that “it was not their problem” that I had to rush through my moving. I don't think I'll ever rent from uhaul again, and certainly would not recommend it to anyone.

Truck was completely covered with concrete dust. It als I had cigarettes and a water bottle. The truck did not run properly. Pick up love toon was terrible. Drop box for ke yes was torn from exterior wall. No one would assist whatsoever.

The van was dirty and had a putrid smell. I decided to suck it up and use the van anyway. During the self checkout process, I relayed this information and was subsequently charged a $25 cleaning fee.... I had the pleasure of paying to clean a vehicle that either someone else was responsible for, or a string of negligence created. I will be sure to check other rental companies nearby in the future.

We had to wait outside the Uhaul for 40 minutes in the heat whilst I was approved by your team. Very disappointing, especially considering that I have rented from you on various occasions before. Will not be using Uhaul again

I was over charged 20.00 for no reason at all, and 10.00 for a hand truck that was not available at all. Total over charged 30.00. I had rented from you guys before without a problem, this last experience was not a pleasant one.

Some of the worst customer service experience I've ever experienced. Vehicle in poor condition-- we had to clean it to ready it for use. The app is a serious pain. Ambiguous where I should drop off the vehicle. Then I was charged for a late fee? Basically you lost a customer.

First, this location is closed on Sundays. Besides, when there actually came a man to open the gas station, he was not able to assist with anything U-Haul related. Second, the self-pick-up process is a poor user experience. It was my first time using the service so I needed a verification, this should have been done ahead of the day of the rental to save time and stress. When I got to the pickup location, I found I had been converted to hand delivery but the location being closed, I had to call Customer Service, which ended up connecting me to a representative after some wait (unsurprisingly, on a Sunday). I was then able to do the self-verification and to pick up my rental, but this was stressful and a waste of time.

Went to pick up the truck at 3:30 and nobody was there at the office. Downloaded the abysmal app, and then called to speak with a representative. After finally getting help from the final and 5th representative on the phone, my order was transferred to a different truck on the lot. The truck was empty (no furniture dolly, no utility dolly, and not enough protective pads). Instead had to go to a local hardware store to buy rope, bunjee cords, and cynches. This delayed my move for over 2 hours. On top of getting charged for the equipment I didn't get to use, I was also hit with an "after hours" charge because nobody was at the office when I went to pick up the truck.

We had an extremely difficult time picking up and dropping off our uhaul. When we called to get help we had to wait 20 mins each time. We were transferred around to multiple people trying to figure out the issue and no one could really help us. We were waiting to pick up the uhaul for two hours. I'm very disappointed and will never be using your services again.

I used mobile pick up and wasn't able to begin the check-in process until I was close to the truck. By the time I got to the truck, it was pouring rain. Fortunately, I had a highway to keep my dry while waiting to get approved. It took me 30 minutes to get approved and that was only because I called someone. I was also charged an after hours fee as I returned the truck before my 4 hours was up. I was also charged for the 6 furniture pads which I never received. All in all, this was a terrible experience without any communication from the Uhaul team. I'd like to speak with someone.

Were useless on pick up but then showed enthusiasm on drop off, which wasted SIGNIFICANT time on both visits. And despite me telling his “you have my card on file, CHARGE IT.” It was clear asshole just didn't like me and wanted to waste my time. “Top 100” authorized dealer my ass. Will look into all other options first before considering Uhaul again

There were poor instructions on how to get and find the vehicle and when we got in it .. there was an old ice cream. Container on the dashboard and boxes in the back ... it's was meh clean I'd say ... defining not clean enough for me to be then charged a cleaniby fee!! ...

The location is like a junk yard. The key boxes are shoved in a corner where we had to shimmy past a van (18” clearance) stepping over garbage. It forced people into a small area. Then you have to walk across a busy street to find your van. Also the check in online was appalling. The “waiting approval” took almost 30 minutes of my time. Absolutely laborious and time consuming for what should be a simple process - like ZIPCAR - simple!!!!!

The outside of the van we rented was dirty. We had to wash the side mirrors, but luckily the windshield wipers took care of the front. The online check in takes a bit of time, but overall its pretty great.

My husband went to pick up his uhaul and the guy at the register was extremely rude and not helpful just because my husband didn't know much English. Once my husband told me I decided to call and I ask him why is he standing there if he's not there to help the clients and his answer was that my husband needs to use his head. I find that extremely disrespectful and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone despite having a fair experience with the vehicle.

Utter pile of shit. Horrible experience. The incompetence of uhal and the staffing is u real. And parking a truck under an elevated highway that I had to cross a busy street with no crosswalk nearby and surrounded by Piles of garbage and homeless people is just part of my experience.

The truck was very clean and seemed well maintained. However, the overall experience was extremely stressful. I made my reservation 20 days in advance and received confirmation the evening before I was supposed to pick up the rental. I arrived only to find that the place was closed. I phoned customer service and after a bit of a wait time a person explained that there had been a glitch in the system and my reservation was actually never actually made. I was given a new reservation number and another phone number to call for an office in NYC. Another customer service representative informed me I would have to travel to a different location but that a truck would be waiting for me there. I walked to the other location only to find that the truck that was assigned to me was also assigned to another person as well. I phoned customer service yet again and was assigned a new truck. While walking to that truck another person already has the keys and started it and drove off. I walked back to my original truck while refreshing the app on my phone. The original truck was now assigned to me again. The person was still searching for the keys. I located the lock box first, retrieved the keys, and left the woman who was also assigned the truck in tears. The app is extremely user UN-friendly. Each time a new truck was assigned it required me to take a photo of myself, and the front and back of my driver's license. This was made especially difficult as this location has terrible cellular reception and would often refresh the page before I was finished. My initial reservation was made for 10:30am. I was finally pulling out of the parking lot at 12pm. My real frustrations are with the app and how hard it is to use. It could definitely stand an update and become more user friendly. But I do have to applaud the three different customer service representatives who helped me during such a stressful time. Their calm and extremely polite attitudes really helped make this difficult process not seem so miserable in the end. I hope the poor woman I left in tears was able to get a truck that day.

Very frustrating set up - location owner was very reluctant to help out, even though the instructions asked me to ask the location owner for the key (rather than give the key box code). I eventually convinced him to help and he found my name in the system. He couldn't find the keys to the car and then I suggested he look in the return box, where we finally found them and could begin the journey. The set up also wouldn't work on my phone (kept having issues with location sharing even though it's a brand new iPhone phone and location sharing was set up for the browser) so I had to call a friend and ask him to come to the location so I could use his phone - fortunately his worked

I went to pick up the van at 10am during regular business hours. The workers said to treat it like it was after hours because of the covid pandemic. Wtf. Lazy and stupid. It's time consuming but I did it. The van itself was in poor condition, zero shocks and a million other little problems . Avoid

Terrible pickup experience, the code for the lock box was wrong, there was no customer service, your discriminatory automatic system blocked me from renting it using a UK drivers license (which is completely legal). The van was dusty, and didn't look like it had been properly cleaned in months. The drop off experience was equally shitty. Overall the whole experience was dreadful.

Staff were unhelpful, just kept repeating the same thing while making no effort to understand. Finally called U-Haul to have them explain that I had been switched to phone app, but because my reservation was not initially, it would not let me check in. The woman on the phone changed it to phone pick up instead of counter, but it still took over 20 min to get it to work.

We were unable to get the key for half an hour, delay in us. The key number and the vehicle didn't match. We told we would be given an extra hour due to the delay. However, we returned the vehicle within one hour and we been overcharged. We only drove for 1 mike!!!! Terrible service. Will not use again and now I have to spend my weekend getting this fixed.

The van was absolutely filthy with dog hair covering the seats and used tobacco chew bags in the cup holders. When we asked if the employees at 392 Leonard would mind cleaning they denied our request. They also failed to check that there was 3/4 of a tank of gas before we left. I noticed when we drove away it was only 1/4 full. Very dissatisfied service. I will not be renting from this location again Thank you Justin

I had specified furniture pads for my move. When I arrived, I was told there were none available. The closest location that did have pads was in Park Slope, which would have meant about a 90 minute detour for something I was confirmed would be there. There was grease on the loading floor and I needed to use my own towels as to not ruin my furniture and mattresses. Not pleased with now having to replace those.

The older man of the two there is very nasty. When I was unable to get the truck back and had to rent another day, he called me yelling and screaming. He is very unprofessional and should not be allow to deal with people.

The box truck I rented was full of bird poop i could hardly see out the windshield I had to basically wash the truck before doing what I had to do.

The service people were mean and they changed me for a cleaning fee for a dirty van. The van also had low air pressure in the tires. When I questioned the charge for the cleaning fee I was blamed for the mess someone else had left behind, then yelled at when I explained how the mess wasn't mine. Overall this location doesn't take care of their vehicles or their costumers.

location is difficult. the rental trucks are all parked in the wrong direction on a one way street so you have to reverse down almost an entire block very near to the highway. it was very scary for me driving.

My issues were possibly more to do with the U-Haul experience. It took 30 mins to get the car up and out despite doing everything prior. Both collecting and returning was a multi step process. Huge waste of time. Also nobody monitoring gas. It was way under when I first got in. Waste of time and energy.

I rented a 10 foot U-Haul truck from this location for a move the following day. Through the U-Haul website, I also purchased two movers to help me unload the truck once I got to my new address. I was moving from a first floor to a fourth floor (I didn't need the help loading but unloading was going to be a bit more challenging). When I arrived to pick up my U-Haul TRUCK, I was told there were no trucks available and that I would have to rent the van instead. The problem here was that I now needed to make two trips with the van instead of just one with the truck that I had actually rented. Normally, this would not have been a problem but because I hired the movers on the unload side for 2 hours, I was unable to actually use the services I purchased since it took longer than 2 hours to go back and reload the truck for the second time. I am extremely frustrated that U-Haul would offer a service (I understand that it's through a third party but still), which I elected to purchase and then I was unable to use the full service I paid for due to their mistake on the available equipment. This is not quality customer service in my mind. The movers were great. No complaint there, I just wish I had been able to use them for the two hours I paid for.

Awful experience. Wasn't allowed to return the vehicle at 2 locations, despite have confirmed with dispatch and my contract. So terrible. Delayed over an hour because of this. NOT A SINGLE PERSON WAS HELPFUL. HANDS DOWN WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. WILL NEVER USE UHAUL AGAIN!

The system was shut down nationwide so I did not get my truck into two hours after the scheduled time. On top of that, they didn't it even have the right equipment for me. I ordered a 10 ft truck but on the day of the rental was told I would have to take a 15 ft truck. I did not want this big of a truck as I did not need the space and driving and parking in New York is hard enough as it is. So a 2 hour delay plus the wrong equipment with zero notification. I will likely never use uhaul again.
