Very casual. â€œWe're not U-haul, they just give us their trucks.â€ Was not told about the $20 convenience fee. Also, why was I being charged a base rate of $99 when the truck is advertised as 19.99/day local? Why does it matter if I drive 100+ locally, or if I drive to oick something up at IKEA in New Jersey? I find you definition of â€œlocalâ€ arbitrary and not based on any empirical evidence. Because I was in a crisis, U-haul took advantage of me through misrepresentation!James B.
The location and the truck rental went fine. Unfortunately the person in Florida that made my reservation told me their would be some packing supplies on the truck. When I arrived at the house where I was picking up furniture we couldn't find any supplies or a dolly to pack my furniture or transport. They also sent two young movers. One was a female that could hardly handle the weight of the furniture. During loading and unloading the furniture sustained damages. I would not recommend renting movers from Uhaul unless you know what you're getting. They contract out movers from different people. The movers didn't come prepared with packing materials either. It was a very bad experience. The UPS store where we went to rent the truck however was very good with the rental. The staff there is always friendly and helpful. Thank you.Steve C.
This is the 2nd time in about 2 years that I have used this store for renting a UHAUL truck and this time to attempting to ship a box with UPS. I had ordered a dolly and was billed for it and was not in the truck when I got there on 6/19/22 to pickup the truck after store closure. It took me over 1hr of call waiting to get the customer support Kirianna to pickup and then escalated to Rebeca who helped me complete truck pickup from store after closure. They were both VERY helpful and pleasant. When I inspected the truck per UHAUL pick-up process, the pad-lock key was not working with the pad lock assigned to the truck resulting in lack of security overnight when I had to park the truck loaded as the destination I used the truck for. During my return I mentioned that to employee Nick who gave me no reasonable explanation why this defect. I arrived for the return at 6:28 pm est as can be proven by the pictures of the millage and gas-fuel meters of the tuck and started the truck return process with employees Nick first and and Lynn when Nick could not figure out to do it. It took both 40 mins to make corrections to the reservation so that I can be billed properly and were constantly disrupting the process of my return, to accommodate other customers that came after me and did not wait for their turn. Also tried unsuccessfully to use the same store for UPS shipment of a box to Texas. In preparation of this shipment, 3 days earlier when I stopped by to reserve the truck, I had asked employees Joe and Nick, for details and availability of supply of materials to ship one box to Texas via UPS from this location. They both assured me that large plastic bugs, boxes, protective corners and peanuts are available in large quantities in the store for this shipment. Both Nick and Lynn again started and stopped the preparation of the box shipment and were again disrupted several times even after 7:00 pm by others while working on my box shipment. They measured and checked he weight of the box and bagged it with my help on 2 plastic bugs. I politely requested that they please pack the box while I was there and although they started they were telling me to lave it there and they will have it done tomorrow and shipped. Given the problems I've had per above, I politely request to please complete the packing while I was there and shipping can be done tomorrow. Lynn agreed and told Nick to proceed with billing my credit card that was charged $123.61 and assigned UPS shipping #1Z28787V0395709461. Lyn proceeded to add corner foam protectors to the box I brought and used a 16 inc box and placed one layer peanuts on the bottom and then placed the box I brought on top of them and then more peanuts on the sides and top, resulting in the package exceeding the top of the 16in. containing box. When it became obvious to Lynn that this box would not close she proceed to try to add an other 18 in box around the existing 16in one but was not able to do it. Lynn further mentioned they do not have any more 18in boxes to possibly try to use for this shipment and very rudely told me that she is not going to ship the box and with Nick's help dumped all the peanuts back in their original contained through away the protective corners and with a box-cutting knife removed all packaging material and plastic bugs they had provided and told me to take my box back, while telling Nick to give me my money back in cash, which he did and asked to me take my box away and never come to this store again for any reason. What a disaster this place is and sorry to say I do not fault Lynn and Nick but those above then that unfortunately have not trained them properly how to use the software tools of UHAUL reservation system and also how to properly pack and prepare a simple box from NY to Texas via UPS. Sorry to see all above problems over the last 2 years I've dealt with the store. Make sure when a customer is renting equipment, like appliance dolly, that you have one. Was going crazy trying to find one to move a refrigerator. Was expecting it to be in truck! Pre ordered it.Kristi P.

My only issue was that I requested a dozen furniture pads and when I arrived to pick up truck I was told they didn't have any. As a result, several pieces of my furniture were scratched and damaged. I should have been forewarned so I could try to use something else but by the time I was picking up truck I didn't have time to waste looking for alternativesSam M.

In the past few weeks, I rented from both the Poughkeepsie U-Haul location and the Wappingers falls one. I would definitely prefer to go to the Wappingers falls location again. They were polite and helpful, compared to the rude and hurried people at Poughkeepsie. The Poughkeepsie place gave me a truck that was on empty with the warning light on! The lady helping was beyond nice. But the van was absolutely filthy!!!! Filled with mud and disgusting. Then there was no other van to replace. It was supposed to be a mobile pick up the key wasn't even left In the van. Thank goodness someone was there before opening hours. Overall really dissatisfied upset I paid more here then at any other location for same miles which is weird. Like I said sweetest lady on earth but everything else was a bad experience.Ashley M.

We had our pick up scheduled for 7:00 pm and when we showed up, our pick up wasn't set up for mobile pick up and the keys were left inside the building. I was on hold in the parking lot with uhual for an hour figuring this out. When we went the next morning to finally get our truck, the hand truck, blankets and dolly were not there. It was an overall horrible experience and I would not recommend uhual to anyone.Mark S.

The truck had not been cleaned and had an obvious, almost flat, tire when we picked it up. The person working at the facility said, "Don't worry about it if the tire pressure warning light isn't on". When we got home to start loading, my wife checked the tire pressure and it was 28 psi! (supposed to be at 80 psi) And this led to the later flat tire, to go along with the battery/starting issue. The truck also had a smell of gasoline near the gas tank, so there may even be a leak there. The person at the rental facility when we brought the truck back was really nice, so we feel a little bad about ranking this place poor, because other than the bad truck, it is a nice place.STEPHENCURTIS K.

Customers want to be able to call the location to speak to a live person on the phone to help them set up their rentals instead of dealing with a website that delays the process by listing phone numbers that put you on hold or hang up on you. I will only use this service again if I can by pass the web site entirely because it sucks!RANDOLPH H.
