Renting a truck from Clare, MI was a great experience. The whole process took less than 10 minutes and I was in my truck. I did not use enough gas but I was charged extra fees because I went over my 5 mile limit by a half a mile.

TIMOTHY HI've never rented from a vendor who carried Uhaul; I've always gone to a Uhaul store location. This time, that option was just too far. The Clare Ace Hardware was great. They had the vehicle ready and clean. Pick up and drop off were super easy and fast. Highly recommend!
JACQUELINE ETruck needed front end maintenance and was difficult to drive due to constant wandering. It was an older model and should be replaced soon. Staff was very friendly and easy to work with, just have old equipment that needs updating

JUAN KThe truck/van I rented was ran into the ground. Suspension was absolutely SHOT, Brakes were soft, and it had absolutely no power left in the engine. I hauled approximately 800lbs in a 20' box van and had to floor it to hold speed on residential roads. The suspension causes dangerous "bumpsteering", where the steering wheel jerks, and pulls to one side or the other whenever you hit a bump. I couldn't tell what direction it was going to jerk to with each bump. And the soft brakes of course make this vehicle exceptionally dangerous in city traffic. Even at 30mph with a light load, the stopping distance required is unreasonable. Mind you this assessment is coming from someone with a class A CDL endorsement. I am very familiar with driving much larger vehicles than this.
MARK SThe staff was extremely helpful and friendly! The Uhaul truck itself however, wasn't a fantastic experience. I received it with the "E" gas light on. I immediately had to put gas in which is fine, but I returned it well above the gas i received it with. The truck drove very, very rough. At a few times during the drive the truck seemed to be getting stuck in gear and sounded like it was going to explode.

Patrick WThe store was great, however you overcharged me by far almost triple what I was told. There was $100 hold and it took almost 6 days to get back. Then I was told I was charged for being over miles. How can you tell the miles when all the indicators were flashing the hole time. Change oil service breaks, service abs, etc etc. I drove from Clare to mount pleasant and back no stops. It was actually less than what I anticipated. Apparently you just charge whatever you want. I was told $40 and charged $70 and it took almost a week to get back. I returned same day also. What a horrible experience I will never do business with U-Haul ever again. Furthermore I explained all this to a rep and he said is that all sir rushed me off the phone and never gave me an option to request a refund nothing. Jeromy 989-487-9272
JEROMY YNot tell me one price on the phone and on pick up day make me pay over a hundred extra “customer service”… Clare was great service but he couldn’t get the price down because it’s what you are calculating in the computers… I find that BS that happened.

debra cThere were several blankets left inside of the unit and there was several piles of sand and rocks on the floor. Shortly after getting the trailer to my house I noticed that the tire seemed low. Prior to leaving ichecked the tire in the morning and it was at 22 psi, the tire said max pressure 65 PSI. I checked the other 3 tires, all varied between 60-70 psi. Comparing the low tire to the other 3, it had different tread and the other 3 had green stem indicating nitrogen. I had to pulled the trailer to the closest gas station about 3 miles away because the closer ones that had a machine for air were inaccessible with a trailer. While putting air in the tire you could feel how warm the tire was. I check and was unable to see any nails in the tire. The $2 to put air in the tire was minor compared to the worry about having a flat tire on a 450 mile move at 330am. Due to the concerns with the tire, every hour I made a stop to check to ensure it wasn't loosing air. Luckily it wasn't. If I didn't check they was potential for major issues, I'm extremely disappointed in Uhaul.

ANOTHONY RI had to rent the trailer to pick up a piano that I inherited from my grandmother. It was a very difficult day and I have to say that Annie at Ace went above and beyond to make things run smoothly for me, and even had me laughing. The only glitch is the refund of my deposit, which would be no fault of anyone in particular, just technology. I will definitely be using this locations rentals if the need arises and I recommend it to anyone. I hope Ace realizes how lucky they are to have a ray of sunshine as a manager!
