Full of insects ,mice,spiders and leaking roof

Terrible business, charged my credit card for the rent without a signed contract even though I did not move in. Never gave me a receipt for the deposit. Told me they had to contact “head office” when it’s a family owned business. Super shady operations. Avoid at all costs.

The storage container we rented was not clean when we moved in and I borrowed a broom from them to sweep it out. It was in very good condition inside though. The containers were not set on level well prepared ground and the yard needs some bobcat work and additional gravel to fill substantial holes etc. the staff were very accommodating and friendly with our infrequent off-hours visits. The yard appears well fenced and secure, but I recommend that some yard work and prep would enhance a customers opinion of the facility. I had no significant issues and no issue with offering a positive opinion of the facility. I do have an opinion however of what could be done to turn it into a very nice facility.

I booked the unit well in advance and paid a $20 fee to hold the reservation. The day I arrived the office was unaware I had a booking until they looked me up in their computer. The promptly issued me a unit and then had to leave to run some personal errands. (just one lady in the office). I opened the unit door to find three pieces of large furniture, a huge oil stain/puddle in one corner and the unit coated in saw dust. I went to report this to the office but no one was there. I did not have a broom so I scrounged for some cardboard in the yard to cover the oil and I moved the furniture into the driving lane outside the unit. I did my best, using my foot, to sweep as much saw dust out of the unit. I stored my items and immediately reported this issue via email with no response to date. A few weeks later I came to the unit to retrieve some items and found rodents had chewed through about half my boxes. I took pictures and emailed the office again telling them they never told me their facility was infested with rodents. Again, no response to date. I cancelled my unit and moved my belongings to a cleaner more sanitary facility. I am in the process of going through each box and itemizing all the damage from rodents. I intend on presenting the damaged items to East Side Storage for replacement/compensation. East Side Storage's storage agreement says they are not responsible for damage, however, they never informed me of their rodent problem. I can understand something out of their control, such as flood or fire, but rodents are definitely controllable. I'll update this post once I receive comments from East Side Storage. At this point in time I cannot recommend them at all. The main reason I booked a unit there was because of Uhaul's endorsement. Uhaul needs to visit the facility and complete a review/inspection to determine if East Side Storage is meeting Uhaul's standards. In my opinion, they aren't at the moment.

I used Airdrie East Side for 4.5 years and I had no trouble at all, in fact, Airdrie bent over backwards to accommodate me. I will use this storage facility in the future without doubt. I am perfectly satisfied.

I rented the container for several years and often when I arrived often the gate was lock and would have to wait to be let into my space.The hrs. Of operation varied upon the schedule of the people running the office.very frustrating!! My unit created mold on all of my boxes which in turn created a huge problem for me.There response was that containers don’t leak and it was my problem.I could hardly wait to get out of there and would not recommend this business to anyone.

This is the most awful and disgusting experience ever! The manager of the store called and messaged me multiple times to ask me to pay everything first before we go to the place to check it without disclosing any terms and conditions. Because I TRUSTED UHUAL SO I DECIDED TO GIVE MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION BEFORE WE WENT TO SEE THE PLACE. When we arrived the storage at 9 am as the same on my reservation and the manager told us as the operation time. there is nobody and the gate is locked. So we had to call the manager and she told us that the operation time is 9:30 am - 5 pm which is different with 9 - 6 as we were informed before. And then, we waited extra 40 mins just in front of the gate but still no one came. We were no longer want to have business with this merchant cuz there is no record for the guy who came later than at least 9.40 to check our appointment. WE REQUEST A REFUND AND THE MANAGER REFUSED IT AND HUNG US UP WITHOUT ANY EXPLANATION MULTIPLE TIMES AND INPOLITE. I don't want to book any storage service with you anymore since your system is not trustworthy.

This was the worst experience of my life with uhaul. I have never been treated so badly in my life. And when uhaul took a deposit and this facility didn’t honour that and uhaul didn’t even have the decency to return my calls to refund my money. I’m beyond unimpressed with this situation and I will never recommend this facility to anyone in my life.

I was absolutely disgusted with the service at this facility if my back wasn’t against the wall I would have moved my stuff. Uhaul owes me not only an apology but a refund for what I paid them and the facility refused to take into account. I am a long time customer I spend a lot of money and today has made me want to find a new option for all my needs.

I felt like I was in school had to call on weekend that you needed access and it was only till four pm and during week only till 6 pm don’t even get home from work in time to go to storage and holidays were always closed. If you use storage and forget about it it would be fine. Lighting have no clue closed before dark

The walls of the units should be cleaned with a shop vacuum between tenants. It would have been nice to have access to units after 5pm, since most people work unit then. The staff are very friendly and easy to work with and the price was the best I found in the entire Calgary area. I will recommend this place to others.

Had the worst, most disgusting experience with the owner Mark. This business should be shut down!! As I was moving my stuff out I was approached by him stating that I hadn't given my notice. I said yes I did when we spoke over the phone to take my last payment from my credit card. He fought back and forth with me. Only to jump out his vehicle and slander me, kick my stuff around and slammed the storage door closed and put a lock on. Told me I need to go pay another month is which I states nicely that no iam not paying another month because I gave my notice. He proceeded to leave to the office and attempted to charge my credit card.( without consent) my card was declined as I dont have funds on it. 10 minutes later he came back and said he had a change of heart to allow me to get my stuff but it had to be out that day. And slandered me once again calling me a liar upon other things. I will add that I was calm and respectful through this whole blowout. Which is why I was so shocked at how he treated me. And wouldn't allow me to speak by cutting me off and yelling. As he was unlocking the lock he asked if I was leaving garbage behind i said no that I had someone coming with a truck to clean uo and place would be left clean. He said he couldn't trust that and needed a $50 junk removal deposit. That it would be etransferred back upon vacating and leaving unit clean. He even signed a letter in agreement to that. The unit was spotless when I left and I took pictures. 4 days have passed, I have not received the money back. I have attempted to contact them multiple times on both their phones and it seems iam blocked. I tried calling from a secondary phone and as soon as I stated who it was, he hung up and blocked that number. I have reached out over email also. No response. So iam looking into legal options now as this is fraud. I could not believe how badly I was treated!!! I rented there for 2 years and I was nothing but pleasant and paid my rent on time. To be treated that way, lock my storage.. clearly due to a small misunderstabding on his part.Then attempt to charge my credit card without consent. Then take $50 and not return it only to block and avoid all contact following. Absolutely disgusting human!! What gives people the right to treat others that way. Or operate a business in that way. They need to be shut down!!!

The guy who runs the place was super accommodating to get me into the unit initially. However, after that was a nightmare. They have one set of hours posted on the fence, and online there are several other hours listed. When you show up even though there is someone on site, he won't let you in until you call mark and he hears him say ok. That's all fine if Mark answers. The people are unfriendly and even rude when not called for. Very disappointing/. Better prices elsewhere with 24 hour access. This place is overpriced and not worth the hassle.

When explained what I needed< I was rushed through the process. When contacted by the individual stating the situation, he obviously didn't know what I asked for. Even though it was a miscommunication, I felt upset with his response. There were words exchanged between him and my husband. This man kept texting my husband with threats and called at one time stating he was going to use my credit card to take money!!! What a horrible experience! All I recommend is that the process is explained more clearer to new clients who know nothing of this type of transaction.
