Donovan EI rented a van and picked it up the day before. When we left on our trip 40 minutes into a 4 hour trip upstate with a filled packed van the check oil/ low oil light displayed. We need d to drive half an hour back to find a location that had oil and called U-Haul to check the type of oil needed. It is listed on the cap. The oil tank was completely empty. The oil cap was stuck on and could not be opened. We had a time to arrive and were stuck and then we got someone to help us get the cap off after we were told road service would take three hours and this was in the evening w could not stay on the side of the road in ten dark at night. We were scared and nervous. We put two containers of oil in and it was still not high so I added a third. We saw the cap was missing from the coolant. There was also no window shield washer and while we were driving birds messed up the windshield and we put wipers on which created a big smudge and there was no washer fluid in the reserve. So many safety concerns. To me when someone requests a vehicle it would be understood that the vehicle would be in safe working order. I have used U-Haul in the past and never had this type of experience. I have always been satisfied. My biggest complaint is this individual had no consideration for our safety and she. Someone rents a vehicle it is with the understanding that we expect we can trust and feel secure that our vehicle works and works well and is safe. To send a family ( me and my daughter) into a vehicle with no oil is criminal we could have died. The engine could have seized and could have gone on fire in an area where there is no available help. Upstate New York has no open gas stations at night and we could have been stuck in the darkness and rain with no way to go home. I can’t even imagine the train this would have given my daughter, it would have taken hours. It so shaken up from this event that neither of us can truly relax it was so upsetting and frightening to think of what could have happened. I continued to check the oil and I am requesting a refund. This was completely unacceptable. Vehicles should be checked and serviced before being sent out for use. Tires, oil, brakes should all be in good working order along with all car fluids after each drive. Please see that this never happens for anyone. It was terrifying to imagine what we would have had to do to get on the road again and how many hours it would have taken in tenders with all our things. I’m so angry about the carelessness that was involved in this.

Jason MInside of truck smelled like trash and a machine shop - oil and gasoline. I tried to air it out and went back to the truck four hours later and almost knocked off my feet by the gas smell. Undrivable. Unpackable unless carting trash around.

Rich WThe only issue I had was an inability to connect to the internet at this location. I had to drive we a block away to complete drop off forms. But everything else, including having someone there at pickup was great
James OWhen I came to pick up the rental, I had to wait a half hour even though I was the only customer for a rental and the van was ready, because the worker had to call the boss offsite and wait for a response. When I returned the van, I was told to “just leave the keys“ which I did, and later received an email to check the van out asking for my location. I was already home so I couldn’t do that. I had to call back and make sure I wasn’t overcharged. Later that evening when I got my bill I was overcharged just $10 for the mileage (I took pictures of the odometer before I left and when I returned). I didn’t even bother trying to get the $10 because the whole experience was so aggravating beginning to end.

william lI dropped the truck off after hours and the app did not work for 20 mins. They need better Internet. Also, there was no U-Haul drop off box for the key as pictured on the app, so i left the keys in their own early bird/night owl drop off box. Which might have been ok except that the box was actually unlocked, so anyone could have retrieved the keys and stolen the truck!! Very very bad.

Scott CMy experience was hindered by the Uhaul self check in check out application that would not allow me to complete transactions. I followed instructions and turned on my location as advised on website but app still could not locate me. This delayed my check in and check out by 30-45 minutes
Nicolaos SCar Salon lies. The contract indicated more gas and less miles that was in the truck. they said they would fix it and did not. I called Uhaul, you can see lots of notes on my file. Uhaul did nothing, I got charged for the extra miles. Telephone wait times are unacceptable.

Avi MThe owner overcharged me for mileage even though I noted it before driving. Didn’t have time to argue. Also he didn’t put correct gas estimate, in contract it was 1/2 full but in reality it was 3/8. Again didn’t have time to argue but this owner does not have any integrity.

Edward WUnorganized. When I arrived they told me I didn’t have a reservation. After a closer look at the reservations, they realized they I overlooked and changed my reservation to accommodate the other booking without my knowledge making it 22 hour rental. I, however, needed all 24 hours and once I realized what they had done, had to call dispatch to make the changes. The van had obviously not been cleaned prior to my pickup and had a putrid odor. I had to bring Lysol spray with me during my trip and once I got home had to take a shower just to get the smell off me/my clothes.

Car Salon was given to me after a man at my original dropoff location - Gold Coast Mailroom- came out of the store to tell me to go away because they could not handle a 10 foot truck- unacceptable- amateur.

Brian Slocation where I dropped off the truck did not have anyone available to check me in. So I had to drop off the truck and hope they were honest. They refused to give me any kind of receipt or even sign my paperwork that I had returned the truck
