Customer feedback is extremely important to us. We use these reviews to guide our efforts and improve our service. Everything that follows is direct from our customers, without any filtering or editing on our part.
We had reserved our return location at 7:30 AM and by 2 PM. We were told that we could not return it at that location. You should have it first reserved first come and do not take away reserved locations away from customers.
SNEHA MFast efficient service. Good truck
Christopher VWe searched the property for the key Dropbox but was not able to locate it. Jose the security guard at the dropoff location said there is not a key Dropbox at the location, and that he takes the keys and gives them to uhaul in the morning. Keys were left with Jose as instructed
DANIEL BThe service rep Ashley was very polite, friendly and efficient.
Timothy DThe women I spoke to was very friendly and communicative, she made my experience the best , thank you again
Smail bCustomer Service was excellent
Cheryl SHorrible service ! No one was even there to help me! She was only texting me and never told me any of the rules or went through the contract
Caleb MIt’s being remodeled to something. But it would have nice to have been notified. A bit confusing dropping off the truck.
MAJID ACentinela Gas U-Haul showed a 20 foot truck, a moving dolly, and 12 moving blankets available so I made a reservation for these items and booked my movers shortly after the pickup time. When I arrived, there was only a 15 footer, no dolly, no moving blankets. Someone who was parked nearby approached us with the truck keys and said I could take it or leave it. Since I had scheduled my movers already, had to take it. Truck was clean, but there was a weed pen in the footwell. Movers could only do one trip, so I had to extend my truck reservation and handle the rest alone the next day. When I returned the truck, instructions were to leave the keys in the key box. There was no key box. I found an old man with a broom walking out of a closed building and I asked where people leave keys for U-Haul trucks. He pointed across the intersection to a parking lot and mentioned that sometimes the attendant holds keys for people. I tried calling U-Haul’s customer service to confirm, but their line was down. Anyways, the keys are with the parking lot attendant now, so I’m leaving this nice review: Old man with broom: 10/10 Parking lot attendant: 10/10 U-Haul Cleanliness: 9/10 U-Haul Order: 5/10 U-Haul Communication: 2/10
DIEGO PThe U-haul was cleaned and it only had 1/4 of a tank of gas when I picked it up. Also, the truck shook quite a bit when you drove it over 60 mph. Not sure if there's alignment or tire balancing issue but I raised this to the U-Haul Associate when I dropped it off in San Jose.
Edward AAttendant was especially helpful. Thank you.
ROSE DI wasn't notified that the dolly I reserved would not be provided until I picked up the vehicle. If I had been notified at the time of booking I could have secured another dolly. This lack of consideration and communication from u-haul significantly impacted my move.
Ashley MUnprofessional, did not take the key when i first dropped the uhaul off bc noone was there. Did not reply until early next morning and threatened to charge extra
Michael IHelen was super helpful, truck was there waiting, everything went smooth and trouble free.
James EHelen was helpful and polite
James TThe truck had debris from the prior renter.
Robert WRequested dolly but wasn't provided. Had to drive extra miles to obtain a dolly. Had to wait 1 hour for personal to be present to return the vehicle.
Sohrab IHave available dollies to rent
Reinhard MThis was a terrible experience. Your associate could not care less about customer service and was lazy. During pickup, she wouldn’t get off the phone while Face Timing with a friend. I told her about 2 separate issue (low gas and a horrendous smell) and she could not care less. Didn’t even offer another vehicle. Then she wouldn’t even get off her seat to move the cones. This morning, I noticed the main belt was failing which I called in. I tried to tell her when I dropped it off but she was rude and did not care. The belt was so loose the AC would stop all the time and the power steering is about to fail. You let me leave in an unsafe vehicle and have done nothing to rectify the situation.
Todd KReally terrible experience. This site had incorrect reservation information, gave me a truck on empty, and when I came to return it after hours there was no lock box. Very bad experience
David DHere's your text translated into English: This is my first time using this company's services, and I am very disappointed with the quality of the service. The TV I bought didn't fit in my car, and I urgently needed a truck. I found the nearest U-Haul location online and drove there. It was a closed gas station with several trucks parked and no one around. I spent over 20 minutes walking among the vehicles, trying to figure out how to pick up my reserved truck. Finally, a girl approached me; it turned out she was sitting in a nearby parked car and was the one handing out keys. The pickup process was quick. When I returned the vehicle, the return process was also very fast—I just handed over the keys, and that was it. The next day, I received an additional bill with a $25 cleaning fee. This surprised me greatly since the vehicle I rented was incredibly dirty, with streaks on the windows that the wipers couldn't handle, and there was trash inside. This vehicle probably hadn't been cleaned for over a year. It turns out the company charges for a service they do not perform. I consider this fraud. Additionally, the vehicle was of terrible quality; everything rattled while driving, the engine roared, and it seemed like it was about to fall apart.
Ildar KI love this location, plenty of room to navigate the truck and that is great
Colette SI refilled the fuel I used for the truck and U-Haul still charged me a fuel use charge anyway. Very slimy, will not use again!
Saxony NStaff is so helpful and accommodating, minor issues abt cleaning, thanks
Maria NStation was closed for repair- which can happen but was confusing upon getting there.
Eric MUnprofessional. Location closed. Employee sitting in personal car taking keys. Did not receive additional mileage for loading and unloading.
Cassondra CTruck was completely empty gas tank upon pick up. No one available for return despite returning during open hours. Called customer service and they had no idea who to contact or what to do so just waited half an hour until somebody turned up to complete the return.
kim hjust make sure that the trucks or vans have the maintance is pulled on them the only thing wrong was the engine light was on and it needed a tune- up other then that everything was great.
Joe HFound it difficult to find someone on the property to help me. Truck had less than 1/4 tank of gas and was dirty inside and out. The back of the truck hadn't been cleaned out, so there were several moving blankets and a furniture dolly that were still in the truck from the last rental. The woman that I finally found to do the rental was nice.
Ben PI was first offered a 10% discount when I called the customer service number and spoke to Solomon. When I tried signing into the app on arrival day to check in, there were network issues that would not allow me to check-in. The direction link to the Centinela Gas was almost a mile from where it was located (we circled and U-turned at least half a dozen times). We had to stop at 5975 Centinela (where the directions led us) to ask where 6900 Centinela was located (the OTHER Chevron). When we arrived, it looked closed until a woman (Helen) in a car stepped out and said she was U-Haul. When I told her I was having network issues checking in, she canceled my reservation and set it up again, this time for the 15-footer (since Solomon upsold me the 20-footer), which took away my 10% discount. When she gave me the keys, the truck's fuel gauge was nearly empty, it was dirty and smelled, and the back had to be swept of broken glass. The dashboard also said it needed an oil change, which Helen stated was fine, it just was not reset She told me to save my gas receipts so she could credit the amount back to me for giving me a near-empty truck. The truck did not feel safe driving (and I've driven quite a few of your trucks). We intended to bring it back by 5 pm, but Helen stated we could bring it back by 7 (the time she would be there til) or by 8 am the following day and not be charged. I brought it back at 6 pm and let her know immediately that there was an issue with the brakes. When I asked her about the 10% discount, she gave me the number to call and told me to call that evening before she submitted her paperwork to finalize things the following day. When I called, I spoke to eStephanie who grilled me, was unsympathetic and a bit rude, before telling me it wasn't her department. She transferred me to Lola who was extremely helpful, sympathetic, understanding, and patient, and filed the complaint for me to review with her higher-ups. The next morning, when I saw my card was charged again ($61.91) on top of the authorization I had for $121.56 earlier, I called the customer service number and spoke to Tee, who began helpful, then seemed like she was giving me the brush off. I got an email showing a measly $12 credit from the area manager, with no apology or explanation whatsoever. I am waiting for the authorization to post before making my next call, but at this point, this entire experience has sullied my overall experience with U-Haul who has been my go-to in all my moves for the past 30 years. I will never be using U-Haul again.
Anael EA U-Haul representative was supposed to give me a call 24 hour prior to the start of my rental for instructions. This call never happened. Therefore, I called the number indicated on my reservation order for a truck pick-up on the morning of. That 1st person told me that I could go ahead and pick it up at the location indicated on my reservation order (#location 1). When I arrived there, I was told the truck could not be picked up here, and was advised to call U-Haul. A very unpleasant customer support representative (2nd person) told me to go to 6900 S Centinela Ave (#location 2) before hanging up on me. Upon arrival, I discovered a disused parking lot/gas station with nothing but a bunch of U-Haul trucks parked. No representative on site. I called customer support again and was told by a 3rd person to follow pick-up instructions on a video link just sent by text to me. The remote pick-up was unfortunately not possible, so useless support. I called another time and was told by a 4th person to look for a representative inside a U-Haul truck who was supposed to meet me. I had to look for that person, circling on the parking lot until I found that 5th person waiting in a car, not paying attention to me. Eventually, we did partial check-in together before I had to finalize the pick-up check-in myself on the internet. In a nutshell, a true lack of communication upfront from U-Haul. Terrible customer support, and barely no apologies from any of the 5 people I was forced to interact with along the way. I lost 1.5 hours in a timed move out schedule. Never again.
Victor WThe 20' truck need some work on the transmission because it was slipping and the cab area need cleaning. The amount of money I pay to rent the 20' truck should have a full tank of gas.
Thomas JThe woman working at the U-haul was EXTREMELY rude and unhelpful. Couldn’t believe the poor service. She ignored us and had attitude with my me, my dad, and another customer waiting.
Seaira GThe track was dirty And they charge me for the damage that I didn't do, and they don't answer the phone
Barak CMy Uhaul experience was very unfortunate and I would not reccomend to anyone. I booked a 15 foot truck and received a 10 foot and trailer to pick up at different locations. The 10 foot was in between two uhauls so it aaa difficult to drive away. They had a 15 foot that was heading to Lancaster and we could have used it going from California to Vegas. Unfortunately it was already “booked”. For the Trailer, there was no representative that understood how to put it on the truck, and we would Have been charged if someone walked us through. Additionally there was NO jack to lift the trailer to put it on the truck. Very unhelpful and unfortunate experience with UHaul. Dissatisfied with the lack of knowledge and assistance.
Lorna HLocation was a closed gas station that had been tapped off and coned off. We had to physically move cones to be able to enter the lot. It took us 10 minutes to find an attendant and they were in their car in the lot. The UHAUL truck had a tapped on mirror that was shaking during the whole ride and made it an extremely unsafe experience. Interior was extremely filthy (almost like someone was living in there) with latex gloves spread around, personal care equipments dumped inside, and generally just fiolt. One latex glove was stuffed into the lighter compartment. The floors were sticky as well. Extremely unpleasant and unsafe experience all around - do not recommend. Would rather recommend the home depot trucks that were much cleaner on our second trip.
Cameron MGreat location and close to storage facility.
Steve ALocation was coned off, my husband had to move cones to gain access. Then the person who was there said that we’d be charged for something we never had in the truck. She was very nice and immediately let us know that she would be contacting her boss to inform them we never recieved the items. When we arrived home I noticed an email stating we had not been charged. Thank you to her, but over all experience with U-Haul wasn’t the greatest.
Steven KI suppose the U-Haul business is supposed to be based in the gas station but it was closed. The U-Haul rep was sitting in her car with the windows closed and doors shut parked along side a black truck in front of the closed gas station. Unknowingly, I rode up on my bicycle and saw two U-Haul trucks on the side of the building. I rode up past both trucks to look for someone but no one was around. There is a side door to the building between the trucks and I found was locked with a sign stating that they are temporarily closed. I rode around to the back to the second building (the auto shop) that was also locked and vacant. I called U-Haul, and after getting transferred to a second person, was told that the U-Haul representative might be sitting in the truck. I returned to the trucks but no one was there. Then I approached the parked vehicles near the front entrance and found a woman sitting in her car with doors and windows shut. She apologized and checked my information but had difficulty clearing my registration. She had me call U-Haul again to see if it could be cleared. I had initially made the U-Haul reservation online. Later on, I received a text stating that I could speed up the rental process if I did it early through the app so I downloaded it and completed the registration. Apparently, there was a problem with that procedure because she or the man on the phone couldn’t figure it out. She finally decided to delete my reservation and enter my case as a walk up rental. This entire process delayed me an hour. Due to the delay, I did not have time to refill the gas tank. I had seen that it would cost $6 plus change per gallon for gas if unfilled but I did not see nor was I told that there is a $32 credit fee for not filling the truck to 1/4 tank. I also received the truck with 1/4 tank. I am very disappointed with this experience. The only upside was the truck functioning well to finish the job
Miki KI recommend dealing with a u-haul center rather than dealer who usually don’t carry dolly, blankets, etc.
Hooshang MDidn’t have any accessories. Didn’t know till picked up truck.
Leiman CI would go to a real U-haul place
Jason MA few suggestions. The app is still a little glitchy. The forward and back buttons aren't always visible. Also, A reminder e-mail the day before you pick up the truck outlining what information you need, either a passport or multiple people confirming. The e-mail should also include what are the broad steps to get the keys. It took a lot longer than expected to pick up the truck and get moving. Also, the trucks are very tightly parked next to each other so maneuvering them at this location can be a little tight.
Camilo CI rated average because there was no signage that it was a U-Haul return site
Gregory LAlthough the attendant was helpful, I wasn’t able to drive away with my UHaul until almost 45 minutes after my reservation. When I got into the vehicle there was a lot of trash and it smelled almost unbearably bad. The car also had no gas in it. During a stressful move these details can make things even harder. I won’t be renting again and believe I was vastly overcharged for the experience I received.
Sarah MTHE LADY WAS EXTREMELY FRIENDLY HELPED ME IN EVERY WAY AND VERY RESPECTABLE I WILL RETURN TO THAT LOCATION IF I NEED A TRUCK
Sterlin Sshockingly unclear with this drop off location. There was no drop box for the key. I was expected to hand my key over to the chevron employee which felt totally wrong. When I called U-Haul directly they couldn’t even confirm how to hand over the keys. They didn’t have clear knowledge of the process. It was stressful and unintuitive. Will reconsider using U-Haul in the future.
Christie HThe vehicle is not safe to use
Jason HThe person who was supposed to rent the truck to me left early on Sunday forcing me to get the truck on a Monday and try to move while working full time. That’s why I ended up keeping the truck for 4 days.
Dashayne WThe truck was pretty dirty and had a check engine light on, half way through another light went on to check the tires. I pulled into a gas station and they all seemed ok. I got overcharged for gas and mileage.
Ferrin RWhen I arrived to pick up my U-Haul, the gas tank was left on empty. I found this to be ironic since the pick up location is a Chevron gas station. I had to drive my rental to another gas station to add gas at a reasonable price. The gas at the chevron was almost double to cost. When I returned to drop off my equipment, the representative was unfamiliar with the check out procedure. He did not know about the app or that I was required to complete the drop off online. Prior to me informing him of the process, he had proceeded to take the keys and let me know I would get an email. This was bizarre to me. Thankfully I have rented from I-Haul quite a few times this year and have grown familiar with the processes and procedures. I enjoy renting from U-Haul, but I think this location could use some assistance with training, quality of service, and compliance.
Corinna PI returned the car 3 hours and 46 minutes overtime and was charged an extra day's rent.
Sky WPicked up the tool over a half hour to pick up the vehicle didn’t leave the parking lot until 12:50, after arriving early for my 12:30 appointment, they didn’t have a dolly or more than one person to expídete service. I was also charged for gas an extra &10+ dollars for some reason. I picked up the vehicle on almost empty had to get gas right away and returned it almost a quarter tank.
Joshua RHard to return the truck because parking is so limited. Didn’t have the furniture pads I reserved.
Kyle SFirst they kept me there for a long time and then they didnt had any supplies which I asked for in advance and reserved. Once I left, O see that the truck is totaly out of gas. When I returned the truck, they charged me $30.00 extra and for several days they keep on sending me from one office to another and all the time they are saying someone getting back to me and no one did that so far. This is the matter of principle. I am asking for money back.
Moris NCharged gas fuel when gas gauge was returned on same level
Garold CThe agent was professional and kind. The truck was clean and ready when I arrived. I can’t suggest any improvement. Thank you.
Tee CCar was not filled to half tank of gas upon receiving which I noted with photo. I filled to half tank when returned and I was not compensated. Roughly $15 should be given back to me.
Taylor LTelephone number for address was out of order and the truck windshield was filthy with no windshield wiper fluid.
Roger BYou guys need better customer service and a better organizational system in general. The truck was fine, it was everything else we had to deal with to get the truck that absolutely sucked.
Dan GConvenient location for drop off but there were so many trucks there already I didn't know where I was supposed to leave the truck. No instructions or drop off box for keys. I finally realized the gas station attendant takes keys.
Tam PThis is one of the best uhual rental placed
rogelio HIt was a great moving experience
Irene TPut a sign up indicating that this location is in fact a U-haul drop off location.
Ashley SThe items like furniture dollies that I reserved from app was not there when I picked up the truck! They told me to go some other uhaul location to pick them up and I went there with putting additional mileage then there was no any dollies available at this location as well. in the end I had to pay extra 12 miles for nothing and I had to pay 4 wheeler furniture dollies $65 in total from my pocket to purchase dollies! Just because of this issue I had to pay almost 1 and half hour additional for movers that have been waiting for me during that time. So $170/hour movers + $65 for dollies + 12 extra miles + $23 extra gas fee charged. = $270 paid on top of $120 truck rent. Total $380!
Huseyin OThey charged me for an extra day for half hour extra
Andrea FThe rented us a floor dolly. They did not inspect it before we took it and when we returned it, they did not inspect it. Know one went over it with us. We just got a $100 bill a day later. We did not damage it. We hope they remove the charge.
Jim KThis person and location were fine but I'm never using Uhaul again and I will be telling every other person I meet to never use Uhaul. It's absolutely worth it to spend a little more for better service and reliability for something as big as a move.
Dennis TThey played me on the gas
Robert D
