For those of us who chose not to use a major credit card, I was surprised when I got to the terminal and there was no reservation for me. I called head office in PG and was informed that a major credit card was not sufficient. Thank goodness my sister was able to help with that. However, I truly appreciated the Uhaul service. Then, the ferry was delayed due to weather, and the terminal was understanding. We caught the first available ferry and returned the vehicle clean and gas topped up. Thank you!Florence L.

There was a gas leak in the middle of my move. This location was no help at all. Then while I was moving and loading, they tried to take the uhaul without offering another one in return. Then because I was busy the tow truck left. It was horrible and cost me an extra $1500TRACY D.
My rental was not available and the location did not honour the rental guarantee. They put the contract into the drivers name not mine and then would not talk to me on the phone. They charged me in miles instead of kilometres. Total hassle.Benjamin B.

The staff at Coastal propane/u Haul have consistently been customer oriented throughout the years. What I'm not happy with is the mandatory insurance required to rent a trailer. Throughout the years I have purchase extended insurance in order to ensure that any accidents involving a rented trailer would be completely covered. So I've always been able to decline the abhorrent price of insurance that UHaul offers. No longer so it seems. From a long term customer of UHaul that you'll see your company at least once a year, I strongly recommend you change this policy. It reeks of a total cash grab.STEVE C.

First, I have to say that the employees were polite and helpful at this location but what happened with our rental was unacceptable in my opinion. We rented a dolly and furniture pads. When we picked up the truck, the staff said that these were already in the back of the truck. We had no walk through of the vehicle, which I found strange. When I got the truck home, these items were not in the truck. So, I called the location and they said to come back and get them. Then, I got home again and got in the back of the truck only to find that it STANK so bad, I could hardly stand in there. It smelled like rotten food and there were stains all around the truck like somebody was hauling leaking garbage. I called the location again and they said to brink the truck in and they would clean it out. So, I did this. They did a quick clean but the next morning when we opened up the truck to pack it, it still stunk to high heaven. It was the only truck available in this town so we had no other choice but to pack it. We were certainly worried that our belongings would smell like this truck. So, we had to go back to the Uhaul location several times to complete the rental. It is a good thing that we rented the truck for the day before we were supposed to move or we would not have been on time. Also, the truck was in rough condition. All banged up and very dirty in the cab. It had definitely been smoked in. As a female who had to drive this truck over 2000 kms, I was worried that it would not make the trip. I felt dirty after each days drive. I was not impressed!Dana B.

I start, i would like to say how i had originally ordered my uhaul from kermodei storage in Terrace, the man there gave away my reservation (i had booked weeks in advance) and told me to call uhaul and find a different place to rent from. So I had to then go to Hazelton, where they had 1 truck in the size i needed. The man there told me I would have to call that night (night before reservation) to ensure the truck was back. He never answered the phone calls and i ended up calling uhaul as i was set to pick up my truck at 8am the next morning. Uhaul informed me the truck was never returned and to pick up in prince rupert. Thankfully they had multiple trucks in the size i needed.. as for the prince rupert location, the gentleman who helped us was very kind. He didn't check any fluids on the truck, didn't have any indication of when the oils were last changed/checked. In my online order I requested a dolly and an dozen furniture pads, none of which were given to me. I drove the truck 1600kms, and it was very rough. The truck constantly shook and vibrated and it was impossible to drive it in the automatic setting.Sidney F.

They didn't have the snow cleaned off of the truck. I also couldn't open the back of the truck due to the snow and ice. The worker pretty much told me just to sit in the sun and let the sun defrost it. I expected to load up the uhaul right away. Then he went to go get the snow off of the other uhaul and get the back open for the customer renting that one. Then he came to help meâ€¦.Katrina L.
I would 100% recommend this location. However my overall rental experience was 100% awful. They changed my pick up location for my original booking to over 200km away. There was no phone call, no offering a different unit at the location I booked. Instead I had to follow up to let uhaul know how terrible their service was.Nicole G.

This location doesn't answer their phone. They have no voicemail and no way for anyone to know if they are open or closed and by closed I mean permanently closed. The person who we finally dealt with there was not very helpful. In fact he created a significant amount of stress for several members of the family. I guess that's what happens when there's no competition so maybe someone else should open a U-Haul dealership in Prince Rupert so that service is significantly better. After lodging a formal complaint a numerous emails and phone Calls to head office, our complaints were mostly resolved. However it should not take that much work to complete a basic rental and get a response from a business.Paul E.

I went to the location gave all my information 3 weeks before only to be told that I didn't have a reservation the truck that would be available would be less than half the size requested and double the cost. Both coastal propane and the terrace BC drop off were rude and unaccommodating we had hired movers for a certain date taken time off work snd were told ohh well that's how it works, this was not explained when the reservation was made, I strongly suggest uhaul takes a look at how their contractors look after their customers. More attention to detail when customer picks up vehicle. A walk around to identify previous marks. Verification of fuel level. Inside cab visualization by staff, verification that cargo area is empty and ready for customer. Better customer service attitude. Getting bookings and reservations right. I have been charged an 'equipment cleaning' fee from my deposit even though, when I 1st received the truck, the cab was full of the last customers garbage and the back was full of dirt. Instead of complaining, I spent an hour and a half of my own time cleaning the truck prior to loading my own belongings. I also spent an hour or so re-cleaning the vehicle prior to drop off so I am not sure why Im being charged for doing what they probably charged the last customer for to begin with and then leaving the truck in stellar shape when I was finished. Not only am I disappointed, I will certainly not be recommending uhaul in the future. If I need uhaul myself in the future, you better believe I will be making sure that I receive a spotless piece of equipment prior to renting. Not impressed.kristen J.

Overcharged and overpriced. Will not use U-haul again. EVER. Not Coastal Propane's fault ... they are just doing U-Haul's predatory pricing. Same vehicle in Manitoba for two days, same mileage was $156.34 ... here... Visa charged more than $100 than the final bill of $455. Will be following this up with VISA and others. Was told unit would be moved out for easier access. Was not done. Went to hook up and electrical cable was about 4 inches long. Had to buy extension from alternate place as unsullied was open much later. So do as you say and ensure electrical cables are adequate.ANDRE M.

Fix the app to speed up the pick up process. I tried for 20 minutes to use the app but I was not able to proceed past step 1, upload picture of myself. I spoke with 2 online agents while my wife spoke with 1 agent over the phone. In the end I had to use the uhaul web page. The app was nothing but problems. And I did allow the location service to be active.reginald S.
