CHRISTINE AUpon arrival to pick up our "reserved" truck, we were informed that the manager was supposed to call and let us know that our truck was not available due to the previous customer not returning it. After several minutes, they were able to provide one from their lot that wasn't supposed to go out until the following day. Note that the truck is old and dirty inside (seat glued, etc.) and the transmission doesn't sound great. It was slow to accelerate on the highway so you may want to check that out. Finally, when proceeding with returning the truck (via phone app), it told me I was being charged for TWO days. I rented the truck for ONE day (Sat - 11/08) - picked it up at 10:30 a.m. and returned it around 11:00 p.m. to the Van Dyke location. So I am puzzled why U-Haul would charge me for TWO days! I expect a refund for the extra charge please!
HARVEY DThe customer service at this location was great. We were very pleased with the service we received, the cleanliness of the store and truck. We used this location back to back weekends since it was so convenient that they were open on Sunday. If we ever need a truck, we will definitely use this location again.

PAUL MBack area of truck was filthy with debris, told truck had a 1/2 tank of gas but only had just over a 1/4 tank, cab of truck had debris and wrappers on the floor and middle. I love this uhaul location otherwise.
KATHLEEN AMy only complaint would be that Uhauls should NEVER be given to customers with an empty fuel tank. Luckily I only needed the truck for a few miles, but that’s just not a good practice. I’ve never been to a location that doesn’t fill the tank at least half full for their customers to start off on.

Jay BThe equipment I rented with the truck was not ready when I got there to pick up the truck. The doors were locked and a note was on the door the someone would be back in 15 minutes. I tried to call and find someone to help. After 30 minutes, someone peaked their head out of the door. When I explained that I was waiting to get the 2 dollies and moving blankets I had paid for, she got rude with me. she finally located them after saying that they don't keep those items on hand. she made me get them and load them into the truck myself. I am a 50 year old woman and those are heavy. I was under the impression they would already be in the truck for me. I will never go back to that location again.

CINDY LI was not informed that the doors auto lock when the kids are in the ignition and car running. I stepped out of the car for all of 4 mins and the car locked!! My dog was in the car for 2.5 hours before someone finally was able to come help me. I went back to the store I rented the van from and they didn’t have a spare key! Instead I was given a card for the area manager. I did call road side assistance and they quoted it at 3 hours!!! The area manager came in 20 mins! That was the only good outcome. I didn’t receive anything for the inconvenience of the keys locking in the van! Which they should have disclosed when a customer is renting a vehicle!

Cindy AAugust, the staff member that helped me at the Compass Self Storage on Van Dyke in Shelby Township, was possibly the rudest staff person who has ever "helped" me. I've never had someone raise their voice at me and talk to me like I was stupid after asking questions to clarify the return policy for the vehicle's keys. Extremely unprofessional and I will not be going back.

TERRANCE AThe process of getting the vehicle with mobile checkout was brutal. I originally thought I would pick up the vehicle at 8am, and my schedule shifted so that 8:45am was what I needed. At that point your online app sucked. That is a mild description. After 30 minutes of fighting it and waiting for call back assistance, finally enough time had passed that the local workers started arriving.
John OAshley was absolutely incredible and deserves all the raises and bonuses she can get. I'm moving due to a break up and she was so very sweet and empathetic. It was like I was talking with a best friend when I got the uhaul. Incredible customer service. And I've worked in customer service for 10 years!
