We showed up at ten minutes to five the person said they would not check us in and delayed us till after five the. Became helpful so they could charge us an after hours fee … bad service shady location.

As usual with U-Haul a bad experience. I honestly don’t think we’ve ever had a good customer experience with this company, and honestly I don’t think U-Haul care. This experience was extra “ Special “ . Despite booking our truck for 2 days and returning it earlier we were still charged a late return fee. They always find a way to charge you extra for something. This particular U-Haul location leaves the gas station attendant in charge of returns. When we questioned the late return fee we were charged he proceeded to rant and hurl abuse at us. We were unable to have a civilized conversation with him. We had to hang up the phone, and he was still ranting. What company actually lets people like this be the face of their business ??? Honestly, you have to ask that question. My advice is just to really look around for another truck rental company. Better to pay more than deal with this business.

Richard WPretty smooth transaction dropping the vehicle off. All went well except I left my phone in the truck. Went back about a half hour later and they also asked if the gloves and toque they found were mine ... they were not. So, their cleaning and checking of vehicles was quite a bit better than the place I picked it up from as they found items left by persons who rented the vehicle before me.

The computer system was down so it took a while to get sorted and then the truck did not start 3 times once we had it and we had to jump it to get it going. It was cold but it did add hours to our day and lucky we had our own jumper cables and access to another vehicle..

joel fHorrible experience overall. Booked a trailer to be picked up near Canmore, AB. Less than 24hrs before my pickup time I got an email saying my pickup location had been moved to Golden, BC. This is completely unrealistic, especially with winter highway conditions. Phoned U-Haul to ask what was going on. The woman on the phone was quite rude and said that I “wasn’t gonna like her answer”. Finally negotiated a truck rental “for the same price” as the trailer. This of course does not include the extra $50 damage insurance fee and $150 I had to spend in gas for the truck. I then called the U-Haul pickup location to confirm the pricing. They hung up on me twice so I was forced to wait and confirm the pricing upon pickup. The woman at the desk was again very rude (I believe she was the owner or the owners wife). She was angry about the questions because I was “getting the truck for a steal” by getting it at the same price as the trailer, as if I’m not having to spend an extra $200 now because they screwed up my reservation. I was disgusted by every interaction I had with these people. Do better
Desiree MThis whole experience was hopefully my last, ordered a 10 foot truck to be picked up in deadman’s flats originally. 24 hours prior they called to say they don’t have it, but we upgraded you to a 15 foot truck. Oh also you have to travel an extra 1.5 hours each way to come pick this upgrade up. With no way to go get this “upgrade” along with not being able to use the “upgrade” because it would force me to drive the long way for where I was suppose to be going. ** I ordered the 10 foot truck because it was allowed on the highway that I was going to be using** the 15 foot truck was considered to big for the highway and would have forced me to drive 8 hours instead of 3 along with 500 extra KM each way. Overall disappointing experience and anyone I spoke with didn’t seem to care. The most used line was well sir this is just how it is we can’t guarantee what truck you ordered at the site you ordered it from.

Edward MI booked for a loop handle utility trolley and paid for 2 day for 14.00 total but they gave me a floor trolley that doesn’t have any handles which was useless for us and didn’t even use it. Its disappointing as the site booking online isn’t accurate when you pick it up.
Louise RWe were billing for missing supplies we never got to use for our move. $200 in missing dolly charges and no response to my email about the error. Customer service person at this location was not very friendly on the phone during previous encounters. Really hoping I can have these charges reversed as moving is expensive enough as it is without paying for services you never got to utilize.

James GUnreliable pick up times and vehicle availability. I ordered my rental 4 weeks before pickup date, only to get a call the day before saying they don't have they only have a smaller option available, 8 hours later than originally requested. This caused a lot of stress and delays in my move and forced me to scramble to find how to move items that didn't fit in the smaller option you provided. I think it's very poor service to allow bookings in advance when you can't guarantee the inventory you are allowing us to book online. To notify changes within 24 hours is shameful and causes an extreme amount of stress for your customers. the staff at the Dead mans flats, AB location were excellent, despite the rest of the experience from u-haul being horrible.

Edward NI paid for a dolly, and when I went to pick up the truck the guy said should be there in the truck and I didn’t check before leaving as it was already late for pick up. When I dropped off the truck , I did mention the guy that there was no dolly in it and he said that we’ll do the final invoice the next day so we’ll see. When I receive the invoice, I got charged $120 for missing dolly and I called the location they said that it was my mistake that I didn’t check before leaving. And also they charged me $20 for after hours drop off. However, I dropped it off at 5:30pm and handed the keys to guy working there. I booked the uhaul until 8pm and left it at 5:30pm , which is before my booking time. how is it after hours drop off. When I called the location, the lady was just blaming me for everything. I won’t recommend this location at all.

Lorelea GThe employees name Gerald , Was really rude , after I mentioned to him 2-3 time that he was not entering The good information coming from my drivers license , in the computer to complete my contract , he need some corrective glass , so he told me to mind my own business and to shut my mouth , that he know how to do his job ,and that I was not the main character of that place … and he finally told me to go rent somewhere ..and pretty close to punch me ..but since I was really in need to have that trailer from previous commitments that I took , I told him to calm down ..but that was a really really bad customer service , and there was also an others employee who witness all that drama and verbal abuse that happen Saturday am august 17/2024 his name was steeve , and the branch manager or owner his Laura /Lee . So if that his the customer service that Uhaul service Center want to provide , no thanks for me anymore . Thanks

Chantelle NLocation was fine. Nothing to do with the locations at all....but...Not having the size trailer was an issue. Then being told that size is never ever available for our trip in our starting area. Then our only option to drop off trailers was 2 hours away from our ending location... We had to get two smaller trailers. As the size we needed wasn't available. We weren't told of the lack of trailer option until the y day before pickup...I have to say. U-Haul is really the only option and they know it and don't really care to make the user experience better. The locations aren't the issue it's the company policy and logistics that are the issue. I honestly dislike U-Haul very very much. But I have no other options...there lack of options cost us twice as much to make the trip. Not happy at all. Had to spend almost 200 dollars extra in gas to return the trailers... I would totally discourage anyone from using them but I do know there are limited options.

Innocent TI made an in person reservation for a truck, a month and a half before the day I needed it, and on the morning of my move out, they claimed there was not a reservation under my name or the drivers name, and they didn’t have any truck’s available!! Even though they contacted the driver 3 days prior to ask if he would be willing to tow a small loaded trailer from Kelowna to Vancouver!! 😒 They clearly still had a reservation for me that day! It set the move out back a whole day 😠 Thank God I was able to spend one more night in that house! What the F… would one do if they absolutely had to be out…today!?

NORMA MThe trailer appeared to leak as stuff got wet in several areas of the trailer on top of items and underneath of boxes. Wasn’t cleaned had dirt and leaves inside
Sandra BMy issue was we were not informed a furniture trolley was not available for us to use even though we had reserved it. If equipment is not available the customer should not be able to book it online. This caused a major inconvenience for us as we were moving large pieces of furniture. It was such a headache as we had to lift the large pieces by hand. I figured ok shit happens but at least provide a discount for the mistake that was not our fault. We were told by the agent that they hadn't had a furniture trolley in months. Then please do not offer it online! Moving is stressful enough, I expect if I book something it is available when I show up. Otherwise what is the point of making a reservation. The vehicle we had was also on its last legs, we had about an hour drive to and from our move. I would not want to use it any longer than that.

We had to drive to Airdrie with our truck to pick it up, which is about 230 kilometres. Can we be reimbursed for the gas the 15 ft truck used? Thank you.
